At least there is no LaRussa. I am bracing myself for the first few images of Camelback this spring seeing Tony in uniform, with a fresh coat of black Just For Men in his hair.5 points

When I watch the Bulls, the one thing I think is “wow, this team really needs a ball dominant point guard”….said no one3 points

Must have missed it with all the excitement surrounding the team2 points

Or that great organization may have helped develop into a legit SS when he was younger. The White Sox player development strategy is essentially “draft guys that are so physically gifted that they become major leaguers despite their flaws,” and TA is one of the success stories, but that doesn’t mean that he was actually able to reach his ceiling.2 points

Dear lord if Saddiq Bey and Jae Crowder can pull 5 second rounders, Caruso should a couple firsts.2 points

It really is astonishing with reinsdorf teams. You always end up back on this road to irrelevance. And maybe it's predetermined. Starting to get to the point where I think I would be ok if the mlb and nba decided to contract the bulls and white sox so long as when they did it they didn't reimburse reinsdorf, just evaporated that wealth.2 points

Moncada pretty high on the list behind only Arenado at 3rd.2 points

I think Colas can get injured all by himself. But maybe Robert can show him how to get dizzy.2 points

They couldn't even escape the off season without 2 major calamities . Part snake bitten part same old Sox.1 point

I clicked on the Twitter feed for Rick Hahn and all the posts were AK and the Bulls.1 point

We put him on waivers to clear space for German, right? Was there anyone of less use who could have been waived instead? Just want to see who to compare him to later this year.1 point

Bilous going to Cleveland may be exactly what he needs. He didn't seem to be getting better with the Sox. Shaw seems like a person who is breathing.1 point

Oh yay, now we get to hear this board complain about the Guardians turning Bilous into something like we did with Pilkington all season.1 point

Lonzo Ball has become the most overrated player on the planet. He should just retire, and then people will overrate him for eternity.1 point
-
Hope and pray that Lonzo comes back and the team plays like they did in the first half of last season. It's a bad plan.1 point
-
I don’t get their plan at all. Seems like it’s to go as close to .500 as possible and sell a lot of tickets. This team has no present or future.1 point

And Luis Robert played 68 games. And Eloy played 55. And TA missed 40 games. And AV wasn't good. Colas > then old Adam Eaton. OF defense still sucked. It goes both ways, but yah, if you only want to focus on the negatives, things are awful! I have said it before and I will say it again. The Sox need Robert, Eloy, and TA on the field. If you want to assume those players will miss 250 games, then yes, the Sox aren't winning 90 games. If those players play 130+ games, I really like the Sox chances of being a pretty good team in 2023.1 point

The 2021 team got a combined 11.8 fWAR from Abreu, Engel, Madrigal, Rodon, Crochet and Keuchel. The 2023 team has in their place Vaughn, Benintendi, Davis Martin, Diekman, Graveman and who knows who plays 2B. I don't see that group combining for 11.8 fWAR, plus it's highly unlikely that Grandal comes anywhere near the 3.6 fWAR he produced in 2021.1 point

This is turning into an Abbott and Costello routine. Look at last years lowest attended game (probably early April) and subtract 1% and that is your season ticket base.1 point

The past two seasons for sure beat the optimism out of many of us. I, for one, would feel better about the upcoming season had last season not been so bad. I'm trying to get past it and be excited about 2023. I do think we'll see better performances from most returning players, in part due to a better culture.1 point

Very cheap concessions. A lot of their concession items are $3 or less. They have seen their sales go up ever since slashing all their concession prices1 point

That is pretty much what I was trying to say. It's a good indicator of what our season ticket base looks like1 point
-
The walk up total is probably closer to 0 for those games as season ticket holders dump for pennies on the dollar on resale sites. Zero reason to buy from box office for games like that.1 point

Hopefully by not being anywhere around this team, but I'm not holding my breath.1 point

Sheets can't is a perfect description for most of Gavin Sheets skills.1 point

Yeah this article and all the quotes in it could have been written by chapgpt or whatever, it essentially says nothing, BUT I think I’m ready to transition, mentally, from feeling like s%*# about how poorly the front office has handled the offseason to just rooting for the players on the field. So that feels alright.1 point

Like none of this supports your theory that they are cheap. In fact I’m not even sure what you are agreeing with me for1 point

Man they been spending money since Lovie was the coach. This isn’t the 80s and 90s anymore, NFL teams all spend money like it’s going out of style. The mccaskeys just bought a billion dollar plot in AH and told you they plan on financing most of it themselves and you respond with “they are so cheap” it’s just such a weird knee jerk response that makes zero sense anymore. Now if you want to complain about HOW they spend, have at it, they have made a lot of bad personnel decisions, but they haven’t been cheap for a long time1 point

It's my understanding they can't put him on admin leave because they haven't paid him yet and players do not get paid during spring training. If MLB doesn't hand down their suspension before pitchers and catchers report next week this asshole is going to spring training and it's gonna be a total s%*# show. At least the cowards will finally be held accountable and step in front of a microphone to explain to their fans how they even signed such a s%*# stain to begin with so I'm all for him reporting to spring training. Let the chaos begin!1 point

How can you possibly forget about Leury and Sheets as our OF depth? Oh and throwing one of our INF prospects in the OF to fix the issue. So tired of this organization.1 point

Chances are any trade they might have made wouldn’t have worked out anyway. The problem with the White Sox front office is they blame anything and everything other than themselves for their failures. It may be fluke injuries that happen to every team. It may be fans who don’t pay to watch a shitty product. To Rick, Kenny, and Jerry, it’s always on someone or something else other than them, so they will continue to do things wrong. Maybe every 40 or so years, the stars align and everything goes their way, and they can say We told you so. But that’s what we are stuck with. Its why LaRussa was so beloved by JR. He was never wrong. After The second guy he put on with a 1-2 count last year, the Sox got out of the inning. Tony pointed out that proved he was right. That’s like being out totally chewed and not wanting to spend the money on an Uber, so you drive home. You make it without killing anyone or getting pulled over so of course you made the right decision. It’s nuts. Thinking these guys were going to change their stripes was nuts. JR prints money with the Bulls. He had , at least at the time, the worst 5 year record in NBA history after Jordan left. Yet they continued to sell our. His gift to the fans was to never go into luxury tax territory which will eliminate any chance of the Bulls ever going on a run where they could win for multiple years. If he’s that way when he’s printing money, think how it is for the White Sox.1 point
-
Exactly, this isn’t a merit/performance driven organization. It’s a cockeyed family run business that pretends to be sophisticated.1 point
-
Kenny and Rick both have their jobs for life. *Maybe* if this season is a disaster they find a way to shift Getz into more of a public facing role, but nothing will fundamentally change until there's new ownership.1 point

Based on their moves, the White Sox front office, whether they would ever say so or not, are blaming all the shortcomings on LaRussa. They really have done very little to upgrade a tea mired in mediocrity.1 point
