I still love Timmy despite all the recent vitriol thrown his way on this board. He's my guy.8 points

No offense, but this series of posts is really weird and erratic -- what's with all the bravado and false choices? The question of whether to bat a rookie in the middle of the order (from day one) depends on whether you think the team can win? The question of whether to bat a rookie in the middle of the order depends on whether you want Marisnick and Hamilton in the outfield? Huh? The question of whether to bat Colas in the middle of the order boils down to whether you're sold on him as one of our top 3 or 4 hitters *right now.* Nobody but you is there yet. I love Colas, but I'm not there yet - way, way too early. I hope to be there as soon as possible, and if he rakes he'll move up. Anyway, this isn't even that "hot" a topic. No reason to get so riled up.5 points

This was nice and happy tim has happy thoughts around him again. But being myself, all I could think of is how it confirmed my previous arguments that sox should have jumped, leapt, lurched forward at the chance to acquire trea turner when he was suddenly available from the nationals ?4 points

Man, I'm just living for this TA7 recognition. We didn't see him for the back half of last season and it's like even Sox fans forgot what an absolute fucking dude he is.3 points

Nelson Cruz in RF for the first time in 5 years. Apparently he saw Eloy doing it and said "why not me?" ?2 points

We’re literally talking about where guys start the year and they work their way up when they prove themselves. No one is saying he should never hit 5th if he earns it. You’re just saying he should from day 1, which is the hill you are dying on but backing off of apparently. But there’s no discussion with you, only insults (mods see above, bolded) so I’m out.2 points

All of the promise with Romy is built on being good in AA at 24 for like 80 games. Even there his strikeout rate was pretty bad. I'm not convinced his hit tool plays even as a utility guy.2 points

So you’re admitting none of those guys batted in the middle of the order on opening day as rookies? Yet I’m “an idiotic”? You seem pretty dead set on proving everyone wrong despite undermining your own points. Thing is, I don’t actually care about winning an argument with you, so enjoy screaming into the void.2 points

I still think carrying both Leury and Alberto on the bench at the same time is dumb but we all know they aren’t getting rid of Leury any time soon.2 points

Royals: not a lot of talent to start last year - makes sense Witt would bat high. Orioles: basically same as above; also, Adley started in 6th spot and they adjusted. Literally what everyone else is basically saying to do: start lower and adjust Indians: possibly less offensive talent to begin last year than either team above to start last year ha Jeremy Pena: hit 7th to begin year in front of awful offensive catcher Maldonado and defensive first CF. Moved up consistently when injuries started.2 points

I'd have been happy for the 1.5 years, taken the draft pick. But now we have Hahn probably saying "TA would you mind moving for our scrap heap signing of Elvis Andrus?!?!"2 points

Outside of nearly tripping on his own feet on his first attempt (still made the out) I think it went alright for the first time ever playing the position.2 points

2nd base and in the middle of the lineup and comes through in a big way. Lynn and Timmy stepping up for USA Moncada and Robert propelling Cuba. Eloy getting hits for DR. Jose Ruiz with the win, .2 innings against DR for Venezuela Nick Padilla with a win for .1 innings in PR win against Nicaragua2 points

Maybe Juan Uribe's DR baseball academy will be a new pipeline of international talent for us lol1 point

Eloy with another single to left, this one a 104.6mph grounder that the IF couldn't corral.1 point

Am I some kind of moron? No, no I’m not. I’m not sure I can say the same for you. I’m not interested in arguing with you over nonsense that you and you alone are espousing. You came at me to begin with. My entire point was that no team puts a rookie in the middle of the order from jump. Your insistence that I’m wrong was actually undercut my your stat laden diatribe. Again, I don’t actually care here, but you keep coming at me, so please, kindly stop responding to my posts with your nonsense. I’m just not interested.1 point

Colas gets a nod from Baseball America as the #3 hottest prospect in ST this week (after Josh Jung and Casey Schmitt):1 point

I would limit all these guys' pitches. Cease only has so many bullets left in that surgically repaired elbow. If he can get ready for the season and build stamina doing his side work as much as possible -- great. I know he needs to throw some live bullets but I really hope we have a holistic approach to injury prevention this year and that goes for the position players as well. Track their use, track their stress hormones and shut them down and rest before injury occurs.1 point

So I am obviously a big play our guys to see what they have so we don't have to pay 16 mil for leurys kinda guy, but was also a supporter of signing alberto... and given the stolen base rules, I feel like he'll be a good piece to take advantage. Hopefully we get a hot two months or so and can help us get some more budget for a real acquisition.1 point

Never thought about that. Maybe he can just rosin his whole arm and go to that after every pitch.1 point

If he just cared about winning where else would he go that doesn't spend big on free agents? It is kind of a circular argument, if a team prioritizes winning over profits they will spend more. But if the team spends more then players just come because of the money and not winning. So teams like the Sox don't spend big on free agents because they are looking for players who just care about winning and not the biggest paychecks. Brilliant strategy JR.1 point

I was fine with this idea when it first came up but it just seems...weirdly-timed now. Kind of falls flat. If these went up at the end of the 2022 season and stayed up over the offseason they would have captured a mood. But with opening day around the corner I think most Sox fans are ready to focus on the new manager and hope the team does well, and this sort of seems to suck us back to a time we'd rather forget. And they'll look pretty dumb if the Sox have a nice start to the season (I know, that wouldn't exonerate Jerry, but come on...nobody wants to b**** about the owner when the team is looking good.)1 point

It’s. Spring. Training. Nothing wrong with him hitting 7th or 8th and adjusting if he’s hitting.1 point

It’s pretty clear how much Sox missed prime Timmy last year. I hope we get prime Timmy all year…will be such a massive upgrade.1 point

Top 6 nothing lower for Colas. Can't be afraid of the big stage. Get him used to it. We'll need him there in the playoffs.1 point

I trust Colas to be better than Moncada as a hitter. There's no way I'm putting Moncada 5th against righties. I want a hitter there not a walk/K guy. He has a lot to prove. .400 slugging guys shouldn't be batting 5th even if his slugging is slightly higher against RHP. Since Moncada will be in the lineup every day because of his defense I'd bat him 8th or 9th against any kind of pitching until he proves he can still hit. I know people are going to talk about pressure if you put Colas in the middle of the order but he is a middle of the order hitter against righties. I can see a more cautious approach vs. LHP with him but replacing him with Romy ? NO ! Every indication is that he can hit LHP pitching too. Trust the kid to be almost everything he was in the minors. I don't want to establish a pattern of him not getting AB's against LHP. He should be a fixture in the lineup like TA, Benintendi, Moncada, Eloy, Robert, Andrus, Vaughn and Grandal. He's got a lot of helium right now. I've been saying for a while he's going to be a savage and I'm not backing down from that even if I end up replacing Harold jokes about Kelenic. The whole lineup 1-9 has to play and only rested on given days off. Switch those 9 guys around depending on the handedness of the pitcher but play them all as much as possible. Grandal should get the most amount of rest but after that plan on having them all play 140+ games.1 point
