Bruce Levine - Employed Rick Hahn - Employed Gordon Beckham - Employed James Fegan - Unemployed And I think to myself, what a fucked up world.7 points

Just lose a lot of respect for a player when the clear clubhouse leader leaves, you are a top player and have been around for the longest, and do nothing to lead the team all while blaming others and praising yourself. He's a good shortstop, possibly at the start of a long-term decline. One of many reasons I would have traded him in offseason.6 points

Nightengale is an absolute piece of crap. Of course he somehow used Grifol's performance to praise TLR. TLR deserves a plaque for what he did last year? What a freaking joke. Guys like James Fegan get fired, while this piece of human excrement Bob Nightengale still has a job. That's ridiculous.5 points
-
Heard in this interview: BN: “I was joking they should give Tony La Russa another plaque in Cooperstown, he’s the only person who has won with this team.” (Editors Note: Ricky Renteria had their highest win percentage under Hahn, also had their best chance of advancing). Mully: “Bruce Bochy (Texas’ manager) was interested in the job, the White Sox were not interested in him.” (Editors Note: Yes, because Jerry always sticks with the cheapest talent, with BFF DUI Guy the exception.) BN: “When you talk to other scouts (about Tim Anderson), they say get him out of Chicago, get him to a place that’s a contender, like the Dodgers or someplace else, and you would see a different ballplayer. And you saw that in the WBC, where he was spectacular…. All the losing seems to bring guys down. Scouts also think Lance Lynn is another one who would benefit playing for a competitive team and leave this atmosphere.” Cell Jerry Cell.5 points

Of course Hahn wouldn't interview Bochy. Hahn wants someone who won't show him up. Grifol, Renteria and especially Hinch ( a winner, but a winner who also kowtowed to the GM Luhnow) Lord I hope he's right about breaking this org. up.5 points
-
Tim Anderson seems like a guy right now who walks into the clubhouse on his own, talks to no one, plays the game, and heads home. Doesn't seem like the player/teammate he once was. Real shame.5 points
-
Blaming Pedro is hysterical, but also, Bochy was the clear choice when they decided not to hire Hinch.4 points
-
He certainly isn't THE problem but in my opinion he is PART of the problem.4 points
-
Nightengale really is the worst. Just absolutely unlikeable. Incapable of any insight except praising people for being old and looking up a hitting or win streak and calling the team/player fabulous.4 points
-
TA knocks up some woman whose line of work is social media "influencer". How stupid is he to now be complaining his business is on social media? Just another case of not being accountable. I loved the guy. Now, I've had about enough.4 points

Tim is a likeable player so I hope he turns it around. Easy to root for.4 points

Crochet should be in the minors getting innings every 5th day instead of up here wasting away. Just bring up Banks.3 points

His problem seems to be a spiritual one. He doesn’t seem like the same person in spirit as he did a couple years ago. Having a friend murdered could have flipped him into a dark place. Never can tell what a person might really be going through mentally. Hopefully he gets himself back on track3 points
-
It's clear the problem here is that we're all not being positive enough.3 points
-
So scouts think the White Sox have some bad players who would be good if they were on a good team. I think there are 3 or 4 people who really believe this team is capable of being decent, and all of them are on JRs payroll.3 points
-
His performance is literally part of the reason they're not competitive.3 points
-
Tim's got 3 more extra base hits than he does GIDP this year. The off the field drama that I'm sure spills over into the clubhouse isn't worth it, leave him in LA this week.3 points
-
At around 45 minutes he says, "I'm living with the good, bad and ugly in front of the entire world, but I also get a chance to show the world, how I continue to be great through the good, bad and ugly, which is good for the kids." Wow, TA is in a time warp! This is not 2019-2022. This is 2023 and he isn't anything close to even good, let alone great.3 points
-
Another thing to keep in mind with Anderson...he's not a kid anymore. He's 30 or about to be 30. With his injury history I can't see any club giving him a nine figure deal.3 points
-
There's only one person to blame for his troubles and it's not the media or the fan base. It's the so-called "face of the franchise" who has played like crap for a full calendar year: 6-9-22 through 6-9-23: 85 games played, 1 home run, 16 RBI's, hit into 12 double plays, .256 batting average, .293 on-base percentage, .301 slugging percentage, .594 OPS. Saw these numbers posted by a Sox fan and they stunned me that he was this bad. With numbers like that I don't see how he can have any defenders.3 points

I don't really rate marital infidelity but if you're gonna sleep around outside your marriage at least have the good sense to not get caught. Of course nobody would give half a s%*# about his off field issues if he was still hitting 300/330/480 and playing 145 games a year. He wants it to be one way, but it's the other.3 points

Just another venture capital business... which are so horrible for America, workers and business in general. The guys who started the athletic were going to "change" sports coverage. They got paid out 550 million for their VC propped up business that never turned a profit. Fast forward a few years, now the business has been sols and the entire premise of its origin went away because it was always a poorly designed business venture that was used to enrich about 20 people with no expectation to ever turn a profit. Now they're a pay to subscribe sports outlet that offers nothing unique and fires top talent to save money. I canceled immediately. No reason to support another mega-corpo-sport PR firm who doesn't even cover the thing I read about the most. Also, the White Sox blogosphere space is so clickish that it takes away some of those views from the larger outlets I think, which is a bummer since most of that space is littered with worthless takes.3 points

Fegan didn't get let go because he was bad at his job. He got let go because the team he covers has turned everyone off. RH,KW and JR strike again.3 points

Also says we could see a total overhaul of the FO. Take with a grain of salt2 points

I doubt they win the World Series. Great, I’m going to bed. Remember when the papers didn’t have the late results and you’d have to look it up some other way in the morning? The Dodgers are just swinging for outs because they know they’ve already won and the Sox won’t come back.2 points

No Jason, this is the White Sox to a T….an overhyped team because they play in the AL Central and get embarrassed by any team not in the central….lol2 points

Sorry. I work my ass off at a dangerous job for a fraction of the paycheck they bring home. If I'm going to spend my hard earned money to go to a ballpark, pay exorbitant prices, and watch a game I'd give my left arm to play for a living, then I expect effort. Not jogging on ground balls, not sloppy lazy mistakes, not lethargic overall play and mentally lazy at bats, not flipping off fans. If this team was busting its ass constantly and still failing I'd stand and have their backs every time. The effort put forth by a good chunk of these players on this team is disrespectful to fans like me and kids in the stands as far as I'm concerned, so we have every right to expect better. I don't think it's too much to ask of grown men playing a child's game for millions of dollars. They don't want an angry crowd, do better.2 points
-
As long as fans are paying the freight for these million dollar players they have the right to express themselves as long as it is not racist, sexist or vulgar. Those are big boys out there, professional athletes not kids in high school. If they can't handle it they have two options, play better so the fans aren't booing or find another profession. Their performance (or lack of same) is a big reason this so called "championship window" has been flushed right down the toilet.2 points
-
Yes sir, that's what Tim told us. It's all about the fans and media not being positive enough. LOL! I didn't know the "best player on the field at all times" on any given sports team, needed all this positive motivation. I guess I was wrong. I always thought the best athletes on any sports team were usually self starters and self motivated...which how they got to be so good. I'm glad TA educated me correctly for the future.2 points

Pedro isn't the entire problem, but certainly is big part of the problem. He promised the fans a Sox team that would be hustling, working hard, giving max effort and that obviously hasn't materialized. Worst than that, Pedro is as lifeless as LaRussa in the dugout and his coaching staff is an embarrassment. Pedro's managerial mistakes with lineups and managing the bullpen has been god awful. They better not just fire Pedro. Hahn better be out the door as well, along with KW and clean out the entire FO from major league level down throughout the horrible farm system of coaches and scouts. I do agree they need to clean house and go with Rebuild 2.0 minus Hahn and KW. I find it poetic justice for Reinsdorf. Apparently Jerry is not happy with Pedro. Ok Jerry..."Mr. I'm smarter than all the other owners." News Flash Jerry...if you weren't so cheap and stubborn, you could have hired Hinch or Bochy and maybe had better results. Jerry: sell the damn team already, or let your son Michael run it. I do agree though with the other comments that Nightingale is a loser.2 points

It's not Pedro's fault, but also he's been horrible so far. Both things can be true.2 points

Hope he has a great three games and the Dodgers will be willing to offer more for him.2 points

I was a huge TA fan. But when someone struggles as mightily as he has this year, I don't appreciate or respect when TA says in past comments, "I'm the best player at all times when I step on the field." In this interview which is recent, he states once again, he is still great. Maybe he should to be humble and tell fans he knows he isn't doing as well as he would like, but he will keep giving his best effort. I watched the post game interviews last night after the Denver Nuggets won the NBA championship. If you want to learn about the true definition of being modest and humble after not only winning the title, but the Finals MVP, just go watch and listen to Nikola Jokic in all his interviews and how it's all about his team and family first and not about him.2 points
-
Like I posted, with him it seems to always be someone else's fault. It's the media...it's the fan base. Tim needs to look in the mirror. If you are going to talk, "We're the best team in the league...", "I'm the best player on the field..." then it behooves you to back it up or you look like an idiot.2 points

I want Fegan to join Chuck and Guff on the Soxtalk Podcast, or Jim and Josh on Sox Machine.2 points

Uh, I mean the writers who were laid off overlapped a lot with teams that could not generate national interest. The yankee beat writer stories get pushed to national feeds a lot. Nobody outside (and inside) chicago could feign interest in the sox when the sox themselves aren't interested in competing with broader baseball.2 points
-
I think the surprising thing to me is the athletic not realizing the situation and just bumping fegan up to cover national or moving him to a better market. SBNation did that with Bill Connelly when he was originally just a mizzou site guy. But here's a pitch to subscribe to BP, which is writer-owned and where Fegan started. If he moves back there, especially.2 points

I certainly fear him coming to the plate.2 points

4 years $66 million for a hitter with no power. Who would want that?2 points

My dad used to split a season ticket package with a guy who owned a fortune cookie factory in Chinatown. Every opening day we’d go meet him at his factory to pick up tickets and every weekend series for the Sox, dad would drive us into chicago from Indiana, from ever since I can remember up until Comiskey was closed. We had seats right in front of Nancy in the upper deck along the third base side not far from the plate. They were actually great seats with a great view. There was a vendor in that section that always asked trivia questions and handed out a baseball card related to the question as a prize. Every game I said hi to Nancy who I had a major crush on even though she was probably like 48. Best times ever I only regret Comiskey closed before I was an adult. No baseball stadium experience has ever come close to old comiskey imo1 point

Came from a White Sox family. It was passed down. (And to be clear despite the incompetence and dysfunction I don't regret that)1 point
