  1. First time in history someone has asked caulfield to name more names.

  2. Another crap story from the sun times. I bet if it was the Cubs they wouldn't be all up in arms

  3. Raises "concerns?" Seems a little oveboard. This whole thing is so stupid.

  4. It was a fun moment and he exuded that as such. It's not any deeper that that moment. He should not have said "And Benitendi hit a long one to win the game but the Sox fucking suck and just got swept by the twins" for example, so im not sure how that is relevant in the moment. Albeit it would have been funny if he did do that.

  5. It's a hit piece by dudes that suck balls for guys like spiegel and parkins on the score. This is stupid

  6. who cares, he 's run out of things to say because this team is so boring there's nothing to talk about.

  7. Lance Lynn is probably 9 or 10 beers deep and a few hot dogs too laughin at the Sox. Wait no that's me.

  8. STFU Schriffen, good lord. He gives good feedback in the dugout after he grounds or strikes out? That's not a fucking thing man. Everybody has video and all the analytics they need, they don't need some scrub telling them "boys, he's got a really good breaker!" like it's an American Legion summer league game.

  10. When Schiffrin decided he was going to represent the “South Side” with his calls, and put all the “haters” on blast, that’s fine, but now that’s your brand and who he is. Two days later, he badly mis-pronounced the name of Bill Veeck on the broadcast. It wasn’t a flub, he read the name on the paper and thought it pronounced “Veek” If he didn’t make the haters comment, the Veeck mistake isn’t even mentioned. But when you want to puff out your chest and speak for the “South Side” then you better be genuine. Maybe brushing up on Sox history would be a good start.

  12. Why does he need to clarify what he meant when he said it? Again, the station is openly hostile against the White Sox and openly root for them to leave the city and not get a stadium deal. The Sox are a poorly run organization that needs a lot of work. That said, it's a business and those media networks have only attacked everything about the org. Truth is, they had access to benetti because he was an intern and they slurped him to no end, and in turn ripped schiffren. They spent all winter talking trash about benetti leaving, and the clique swarmed to critique schiffren in defense of benetti like little kids. You think if benetti did this exact same thing, any of this would have happened? Of course not, they'd yuck it up with him about the call and call it a day.

  13. There is a hate-love relationship between a team and its fans. They will snipe at each other from time to time. No big deal. I think there are two cases when a team or someone representing a team shouldn't rip fans. The first is when the team stinks. Second, is when someone ends up ripping the most loyal fans. Fan alienation has been a large problem for the Sox for a long time. Stuff like this doesn't help. And it is a big indication of how bad things are with the Sox.

  15. I thought the call was cringey as hell, but raises concerns and writing a whole column about it is so much cringier and raises more concerns about Jeff Agrest than it does about Schriffen.

  16. Here's what I can say without a doubt. My viewing experience this year has been hampered/damaged in no way by Schriffen compared to Benetti --- which was my entire point last year. The Sox are terrible and will be terrible to watch regardless of who calls the games. Schriffen has been whatever - he's actually been WAY better than I expected but he's still annoying and kind of blows. The pro-Benetti weirdo's were honestly as bad as the anti-Benetti people. There are still people posting clips of Jason Benetti talking on twitter and shaming Reinsdorf. Once you get "in" with the media crowd, everyone in that world will defend you beyond reason and act as though you're the reason people are watching the games.

  28. This is what happens when you're a historically awful franchise. Is it much ado about nothing? Yes, but at the end of the day there's nothing positive to talk about and negativey will run wild. If you don't like what people are saying, change the conversation. Field a competent team. Hire a play by play guy that doesn't need baseball explained to him and so on and on and on.

  29. And yet your previous post to this one is you complaining about a radio station ripping on a team with a horrible owner that has been one of the worst teams in the MLB over that past two seasons. This team would get blasted if it was hosted in any other city in the country. The Sox are getting ripped on nationally, not just by The Score. They are the absolute joke of baseball. Why should they not be ridiculed? They have a terrible owner who expects taxpayers to foot most of the bill for his new stadium and makes veiled threats at moving the team if he doesn’t get what he wants.

  30. Using the word haters on a local broadcast after a walk off win somehow should have "consequences." You can't make this up. Are you all sure you grew up Sox fans with hawk Harrelson? Anyone getting offended by the call is either incredibly self centered - thinking somehow a Sox pbp guy is talking about them personally - or you're way too up in your feelings. Can't believe I'm defending this goof ball schriffen.

  34. Here's my take on it. After witnessing prime hawk and "shell-of-himself" Hawk, rookie Benetti and prime Benetti, and now rookie Schriffen, I've come to the conclusion that you can't make everyone happy with broadcasters. No matter who's in the booth, more than likely you'll have people that either love him, hate him, or could care less. Personally I did not like Benetti at first but he grew on me. Loved prime Hawk, hated his style at the end. I like Schriffen, even if he is a bit over the top, he's still finding his footing. His style definitely would work better for winning teams. If this team was on top of the division, I'd bet a lot more people would like him.

  35. While none of this is a "big deal" and will be forgotten quickly, I don't disagree with the premise of the article at all. The team is currently 6-25 and we know the history of this franchise and the laundry list of gripes we all have about Jerry. Calling anyone "haters" of this franchise is a stretch, for obvious reasons. But fine, whatever...it doesn't become a story if when both radio stations reached out to have Schriffen on the air to talk about the call, he goes on. But instead he decided to run away. That's a horseshit move. You want to puff your chest and respond to the "haters" but when asked to clarify...no thank you? He could have used it as an opportunity to defend the White Sox, or at the very least tell people who he was directing that at, there are a bunch of ways he could have made a potential interview a win for him and create a more personal connection with fans given he has only called about 30 games with the team...but instead he decided to run and hide.

  37. The Cubs are also 19-13 and a game back from first place. When you are winning, you can afford to talk smack, not when you have the worst record in baseball. Then you just look like a clown.

  39. I think it’s been blown out of proportion. He shouldn’t have said what he said especially when it made what clearly is an awful team 5-22. You get called an easy mark when you suck. Schriffen did the exact same thing on the broadcast when discussing the upcoming roadtrip. Sox just swept Tampa so going there was a big opportunity for wins. All that said, it was just some stupid comment after a nice win. He seems pretty harmless.

  40. And then the Sox got swept two series in a row in one week by the Twins. Yeah, awesome call. You can only talk trash when you are winning, not 6-25.

  41. Can you tell me on what exactly you base your opinion that the Cubs have better minor league instructors than the Sox ? I'm thinking you must know all their names and have inside knowledge of both organizations. Fake know it alls just throw s%*# out there and expect it to stick and be taken as gospel.

  42. There was no bigger Sox fan than my mother. She probably attended 5-10 games her entire life. So you have more disposable income and more time on your hands than others. You must be proud of yourself.

  43. I wish people would stop saying this because it isn’t true. Sometimes we just enjoy attending a baseball game because it’s a fun activity and we don’t even think about Jerry Reinsdorf. Personally I wouldn’t let some bozo executives dictate my life and the things I enjoy, you’re not changing anything by “protesting” a bad team, the state is paying Reinsdork regardless. It’s kind of like the logic of boycotting businesses who support policies you don’t like. It doesn’t work and you’re only punishing yourself. I think our friend South Side Hit Men has good rationale to ”boycott” the team, signing a sex offender who might help us to win 50 games instead of 48. I’m pretty disgusted by that, but I don’t see the point in punishing myself. I like the White Sox regardless of who the owner or GM is, that’s probably not going to change.

  45. I don't disagree with any of this, but how much of Kopech's issues are due to him just being an incredibly un-intelligent person? People always beat around the bush with his "personal issues" and "mental health" concerns. Let's just call a spade a spade here, the guy is just a mimbo, right?

  46. The fact that a 28 year old pitcher is “adding” anything in his 4th major league season after appearing in almost 50 games in your minor league system…probably means that your MLB pitching coach and former Director of Player Development should both be fired. Just saying…
