  1. I have played through this before doesn't make me feel better.

  2. Happy Ishbia day! Hopefully the countdown begins today!

  3. Infrastructure costs far less than players. Which is why it never made sense that JR didn't fully buy into it (outside of being an old asshole who can't comprehend something, therefore it's bad).

  5. There is no way the drop in payroll has been shifted to infrastructure. A small amount sure, but the general decrease is driven by a reduction in revenue and not capital allocation.

  9. Unless he walks over from the Dodgers' game, where he's starting at SS, Tim Anderson won't be facing any White Sox pitchers.

  10. Tim hit a homer yesterday. Let’s see if he gets a chance to face off against Justin Anderson, maybe hit two more. speaking of Justin Anderson, I was watching an interview with garfien/katz when pitchers and catchers reported. Chuck asks him “do you think Justin Anderson could be the closer?” and Katz pretty much glared at him and changed the subject. Very funny.

  11. That's right JR paid the guardians pitcher to hit him. I know you hate JR for what he did to you but this is over the top.

  13. I know it’s a rebuild but it’s amazing how Getz can’t even build some semblance of an offense in 2 years as GM and several more years before that while in charge of player development. This offense is an embarrassment to professional sports.

From South Side Sox: (Something to look forward to? 😆 "Counting some of this game (please, you want me to check back postgame to confirm?) the White Sox through six-plus games are dead last in hitting (.162) 33 POINTS lower than No. 29 in baseball, last in OBP (.275, trailing by 19) and last in slugging as well (.293, 33) for the IMPOTENCE TRIFECTA."

  20. They are printing money in Tampa. How bad would JRs teams be in the same division as the Yankees and Red Sox
    1 point
  21. Id wager and win. So how much do you think is being spent on infrastructure ? That's a fraction of the cost of player payroll. Tampa was was the gold standard for years who could have a strong infrastructure while having a low player payroll and still win. If their player payroll was $100M they were not spending another $100M on infrastructure every year. For the cost of 1 player on a minimum ML salary there's a lot of infrastructure you can acquire for $800K. Startup costs will be higher at the beginning but once in place it'll need yearly maintenance which is not nearly as costly. Coaches, scouts coaches, administrators even the best ones are not cost prohibitive like the best players are. I realize you're only thinking about the last couple of years but each being equal but not a chance. Even during a rebuild you don't want to be pitiful. Pitiful is $70M player payroll.Again no way they spent $70M on infrastructure.

  27. “I’d advise those partners there’s just not a lot of money to be made with investments like this. It’s sort of a civic duty project. 30. Good question. If (and that's a massive *IF*) he were able to get ISFA to agree to another long-term sweetheart deal, perhaps that helps the value of the franchise. But other than that, I'd have to imagine that the team would be less valuable to potential buyers if they're locked into the current location for another couple of decades. At the end of the current lease, the stadium will be approaching 40. Add another couple of decades and a buyer would be locked into a ballpark until it's close to 60 years old and in a neighborhood that has no history of drawing visitors looking to spend entertainment dollars outside the park itself in any meaningful way. Probably moot as I don't see any new long-term lease coming while Jerry is still in charge.

  40. I just read the last few pages, and while that was clearly a mistake in hindsight, here we are. This is the correct take. It’s not about last season, it’s about being a White Sox fan holistically right now. From the end of 2022 to now, my interest level in the team has been at all-time lows, and by a huge margin. I’ve come to the realization the thing I’m mad at the most is the idea that incompetence by others has robbed me of a lot of personal enjoyment in my life. I like caring about my favorite baseball team. I like being able to throw on a game on a random weeknight and having something entertaining to watch. I like day dreaming about “what could be” and penciling in projected lineups two years down the road, or the adrenaline hit you get when your team makes that big trade or signing. We’ve been robbed off all of that for the last three years basically, and it’s not like the Sox had this long run of success before that. The way I look at it, from an ownership perspective, it can’t get worse. It could stay the same, and that would suck, but the bar is so incredibly low, I just can’t fathom how it could truly be “worse” than this

  41. IMO JR was at least an average owner his first 30 or so years. Had some division winners, a WS, some interesting teams. But the last 10 or 12, he has really been hard to be worse. And if you think about it, he's been worse with the Bulls. Unlike Sox fans, Bulls fans have acted like Cubs fans and still showed up after they got horrible, which is really something, because before Jordan, the Bulls had to be really good to draw. Yet, despite all the money he made being awful, he wouldn't go over the luxury tax, just a big middle finger to all those paying hundreds to attend Bulls games.

  42. Worse than the ownership group trying to avoid setting the worst record in the history of the game in back to back seasons? I will bet on the new ownership group all day, every day.

  43. I would be impressed if they did worse than the worst season in the 125 year history of MLB. No offense, but going for it and failing is WAAAAAAAAY better than this pile of radioactive waste we have here.
