  1. Going south? I think the prospects are looking pretty good.

  2. Nothing left to prove in AAA. His success in that league is much more important than anything that has happened this spring. I'm hoping he's the opening day shortstop.

  4. 60 WAR, 3000 hits, 10 time All Star, MVP, ROY, 10 time Gold Glove, 3 time Silver Slugger, .311 career batting average over 2653 MLB games. This was all after he came to the States at age 27. Absurd that it wasn't unanimous.

  5. There is something to be said for having the rookies go through their growing pains this year and be ready to produce next year.

  6. Didn’t finish my thought: I’m excited to see the impact it has at guys at the ML level but really to see how it affects the development of guys like Wolkow, Zavala, and Bonemer. The bats in the system do leave a lot to be desired, not a lot of high ceiling guys, but there’s some interesting clay to be molded. It seems like Getz and Shirley are targeting guys with OBP skills in the draft and trades which is a good place to start, and a welcome change from the last regime

  7. Once again you're wrong but congrats on having someone teach you AI to improve that horrible writing style you've inflicted on us. 😆 But really, thank you. Each admin brings something a little different to the mix. And like every poster here, each admin goes through stages where the general frustration with the team seeps into every interaction and post. I went through a "fvck it, move the team" phase until someone pointed out that's really unfair as an out of town fan. So I knocked it off. Other mods have done the same thing after it's been pointed out. The major conflict these past years happen when a poster is genuinely happy about something or someone with the team. Then we have to beat that optimism out of them. 😁

  8. Shows how little you know.My grudges are reserved for people who treat other people on the board like s%*# while pretending to be the protector of all things . How can anyone champion civil rights, women's rights etc yet make fun of other posters writing styles or lack of knowledge, or differences of opinion and encourage other posters to do the same thing by his behavior thus created a climate of disrespect. He insults people all the time. It is not playful banter nor boys will be boys behavior . It is primitive, childish, behavior think as I do or be ostracized, creating an "I'm a jock you're a nerd", or worse, a Lord of the Flies culture in here. You have quickly followed in his footsteps .You're like the little brother who idolizes his big bro because he's so cool and acts just like him. Autumn Dreaming one of our posters who posts great content mostly in Future Sox because she was made to feel unwelcome in Pale Hose Talk recently because she dared question the negative hostility in here and SS's gestapo tactics quickly put her in her place. Baseball wise we actually have very similar views . As an Admin Texsox is one of the best, he never belittles anyone. SS abuses what little power he has. I know there are quite a few other posters who feel the same way if he hasn't driven them away too.

  11. I don’t disagree with you…but spring training untimely is pretty meaningless. If you believe in Meidrtoh, it’s because of a full season of AAA at-bats and not a couple spring training ones.

  12. And on the flip side, look at locking up your young talent to long-term deals early, assuming they will be productive. Not as bad as a Kris Bryant deal but still bad money. Moncada and Eloy = FAIL Robert = Depends on what they get for him. Regardless, I would still take advantage of starting a prospect in AAA to start the season. A team like the Sox with a cheapskate owner can’t afford to lose the extra year of control. Until JR goes bye bye, it’s a strategy that should be employed. I wouldn’t have Meidroth or Colson on the opening day roster.

  13. Yup on a team going nowhere fast is especially when should be throwing out spring and going by who has performed as a minor league player and find out ASAP if they are AAAA or legit MLB players backups or otherwise. Lets see what we got in the guy.

  14. Oh no, Ryan Pace is back? For real though, I can't really complain much about the off-season so far. There's some I liked, some I didn't, but the overall grade has to be a positive. He's addressed the interior offensive line. The Thuney and Dalman moves are A+ type moves. They're both impact players IMO. The Jonah Jackson move isn't one that I would have made, but I also don't know him like Ben Johnson probably does. That's probably something he personally requested from Poles. I would have rather paid an older vet like Zeitler for far less money for a year and drafted his replacement. I'm sure the Bears would have preferred Mack or Sweat at Edge as opposed to Dayo. I'm not super opposed to the signing. They more or less paid market value for a guy who has more potential than production. The Grady Jarrett move initially puzzled me. But after seeing what the Vikings gave Allen and Hargrave, two guys who are around the same age with similar pedigrees, it actually feels about right. I actually like the Zaccheaus signing. Like you said PFF graded him well and he seemed well-liked in Washington and on his previous teams. I was thinking that they might target someone like Tim Patrick, but Zaccheaus fills a similar role while putting up better numbers last year.

  15. I agree - he has done a very nice job so far this offseason on paper. He also hired Ben Johnson. Now I want to see him nail the draft - and start to hitting more across the draft too.

  16. Len Kasper accidentally woke up Eric Karros in Tokyo trying to get info on his son for game today. Forgot he was there for Ohtani Series. Apparently Meidroth played in CA high school with Karros' sons...apparently a big fan?and compared him with Dustin Pedroia.

  17. I already know I'm in a small minority with this view. I'm a believer in it being a Hall of Fame not hall of great stats. It's a celebration of baseball and the players who played the game. I'm ok if guys who elevated the game with their character are recognized. Guys like Buerhle and Baines played the game in the way, and were the kind of humans, that I could point to as why baseball is a great game. Cheaters, liers, and criminals don't meet that bar. But again, no need to call me out, give other examples, etc. I'm not trying to influence anyone's opinion, just sharing mine.

  22. I’m not going to defend’s Poles’ track record because it deserves criticism. But if someone wants to insult this specific offseason, at least provide a roadmap of what they would have done differently. The interior O-Line was a mess and he added the top free agent Center, traded for one of the best OG’s in the game, and traded for another former Pro Bowl OG that has ties to our new HC. Compare that to giving a free agent like Aaron Banks 4/$77M…I’ll take this set of moves all day long. And all fit within Caleb’s rookie contract which is another plus. We can still to the interior O-Line in the draft, but won’t be forced to use a 2nd round pick on one now. The D-Line was also decking depth and needed reinforcements. He went out and signed a former Pro Bowl 3T to pair with Dexter and a young EDGE with the size and versatility that Allen covets. To me, the Jarrett move was a no brainer given the price point and leadership he brings to the table. Dayo is definitely more of a gamble and I could see an argument for doing something bigger at EDGE given our need for more pass rushers. Regardless, they offer the same plusses as above in terms of fitting into Caleb’s rookie contract and allowing us to not reach in the draft in order to fill the need. Outside of that, he’s added a blocking TE and a guy who can compete for the #3 WR role. I haven’t seen the terms of these deals, but the Zaccheaus signing is likely an astute one given the complete lack of depth at WR. He graded out very well last year per PFF and appears to be a good fit for Johnson’s offense given his blocking abilities. Complaining about his addition because of past misses not providing the depth we need is besides the point. Overall, I’d give Pace a 9/10 for offseason work so far. Again, outside of EDGE, I’m not sure there is anything different I would have done.

  26. https://news.sportslogos.net/2021/05/28/white-sox-represent-the-southside-with-new-city-connect-uniform/baseball/ Could be something as simple as wanting to replace City Connect jerseys every five years...in order to re-energize sales. White Sox CC jerseys debuted in 2021...Padres in 2022. Originally the Sox Southside jerseys were a partnership with Nike.

  28. Man, my newsroom just went through it's third round of layoffs (fortunately, my department was spared) in a little over a year. That's with a union fighting every step of the way Back when I got laid off (the first time) in 2018, it was jokingly seen as a right of passage in the industry. Happened again in 2020 (extreme circumstances, to be fair). You made the right decision.

  29. I was always a fan of DVS because he would always share post game comment videos directly to his Twitter. As an out of town fan, there isn't really any way to get post game comments otherwise. And Merk is brutal - his stuff is all fluff, no analysis. The definition of a company man. He talks more about Michigan on Twitter than the Sox. Not a fan at all.

  31. With ChatGPT and DeepSeek, the kids here in China are hardly learning how to write their own homework or university admissions essays. They are great at memorizing past papers and STEM subjects, but weak in critical thinking...the advanced math homework my son does in 4th grade is pretty much the equivalent of the 6-8th grade curriculum in the US. I personally grew up with Invisible Man, Baldwin, Autobiography of Malcolm X, Toni Morrison...those books were highly influential to a white growing in lily white Iowa. There did used to be a more or less agreed upon canon of literature when I studied as an English major in the early 90s. It was pretty much every book that you could find those yellow Cliff's notes study books for, with the majority being American Lit over the last 150-200 years and all the Greek and English playwrights. We also had the Norton Anthology of Literature as a textbook.

  32. At Brother Rice, Mr. Perry the English teacher (he also sold me track spikes at his second job at some southside sporting goods store) assigned us 20 books to read and do reports during a class that lasted a semester. 20 books and real ones like Mockingbird, Animal Farm etc. There were like 40 on the list and we had to read/review 20 of 'em. I don't know how I made it through high school and college. So much work. So much memorizing of b.s. Our brains are capable of so much storing of b.s.

  35. As a rule 5 pick the most important thing is to keep Smith healthy and on the roster all season and if that means starting him in the bullpen and moving him to the rotation later in the season to limit his innings then that is exactly what they should do.

  36. It’s currently blocking Vargas, Drury, and Sosa from playing more 2b. It’s not a huge deal, but when the Sox run out the worst defensive infield in the league, their commitment to Vaughn will be a contributing factor.
