The replies here are insane to me. Given all the evidence that has been presented to us over the last decade plus, and quite frankly what we’ve had to endure as fans, I have ZERO issues with a former player speaking out his experience, good or bad. And his comments track with multiple other comments that have been made by other players over the last few years. This organization has not shown any interest in keeping up with where the sport and their competition, and IMO Lynn and others have zero obligation to “cover” for this organization. He was asked a question and answered it. Good for him.7 points

It's funny that we as fans spend most of our time here shitting on the sox and their incompetence. Yet when someone directly involved with the team was asked about it and gave an honest answer, we take offense because he was bad and/or fat when he last played for the team.5 points

I don’t think the White Sox will play as bad as a game as the Red Sox did all year. They looked awful.4 points

I love Meidroth already. He really is what Madrigal was supposed to be.4 points

Do we really need a Crochet tribute video? He was good for one year. I wish we kept him but come on4 points

Andrew Vaughn should be thrown into a volcano to break the White Sox curse.4 points

Was going to put this in the other thread but looks like it was locked. (cough @caulfield12 cough) https://www.cnbc.com/2025/04/11/mlb-valuations-2025-chicago-white-sox.html I don't see any other reporting on this so please don't shoot the messenger if it's nothing.3 points

If you only count non-divisional games, the Sox are a .500 team. And if you only count the first game of a home series, they're an unstoppable run scoring wagon with elite pitching to boot (28-2 over 3 games).3 points

I am going to have to make another one of these? Wow. Not sure I remember how to do that3 points

I have to say I like what the new kid is bringing in his debut. Looks like a halfway competent ball player with decent athletic traits. Huh, they do exist.3 points

He will be batting first or second shortly. This was just due to him being a newbie.3 points

Meidroth batting 7th is crazy. Should be batting 9th, 1st or 2nd3 points

Who is saying this? Red Sox announcers? Stay out of White Sox business, bozos.3 points

If I owned a team for 40 plus years and I was in Reinsdorfs place I would be absolutely mortified. This is absolutely a pride piece of his life and while he is still making money I definitely believe he feels the shame of what’s happened, he just doesn’t have the motivation to do the right thing either in investment or selling3 points

I just can't wrap my head around the physiology of a White Sox fan "upset" by these comments. He was literally asked to talk about each place he pitched, and to speak on the differences between what he experienced with each organization. He gave his honest opinion. Isn't that what we ask of players? Would White Sox fans preferred he flat out lie and say "The White Sox were wonderful, just a way better organization than the Dodgers, Yankees and Cardinals in my experience." Are you are saying you want to be lied to to feel better about the team that you root for? You just can't handle or wrap you head around the idea that the Chicago White Sox don't offer players the best tools and resources, or they don't have the same standards as the Dodgers or Yankees? Even after watching this team go 104-232 in their last 336 games? I don't get it.3 points

Yeah, but Gio and Dylan are still major league players. They can't really afford to bad mouth other teams. Lynn is retired. I also don't find any fault with what he said. He doesn't sound like he had any angst, he was just stating his observations and lived experiences.3 points

We are going tonight and look forward to seeing the first of our top prospects on the field. We will give him a standing ovation to welcome him.3 points

It’s amazing how many Red Sox fans still love the guy and are rooting for him. It’s the exact opposite of the usual fans that don’t want to see the prospects they give up in a big trade to excel too much and make the trade look bad for them.2 points

How is Sean Newcomb starting a game in the major leagues? Follow up: How is it not for the White Sox? Him going out and dominating the Sox would be just about right.2 points

I assume you're referring to me. I've never said the organization was peachy when KW/Hahn were in charge. Weird how, once the ex-director of development is put in charge, he starts making the changes that were needed. Almost like he wanted to all along, but couldn't. I'd actually like to see any evidence that KW/Hahn were begging Getz to upgrade areas of development, and he didn't, in a craven move to get his bosses fired and for him to take over leadership.2 points

How does it work for you, or anyone, if you publicly bad mouth your current employer? This is classic don’t shoot the messenger stuff.2 points

There are two ways for this ship to turn around: 1) JR dies 2) JR is publicly shamed into changing by having former players continue to speak out. I would rather not have to rely on death as a beacon of hope, just as far as my personal morality is concerned.2 points

Also the "it's a business" stuff goes both ways - yes, he signed an extension and stayed here ... because we gave him money. I've also worked for a job that sucked but paid me. He made the decision to stay because it's a job and they gave him an opportunity to make more money. He did what he did, and he said what he said. I don't fault him.2 points
