Let me be fully aggressive there. While Rick Hahn and Kenny Williams own their fair share of responsibility here, the fact that the guy who ran one of the worst productive farm systems in baseball got a promotion, instead of his pink slip, is laughable. That's without even getting started on Jerry blocking Rick on hiring a real manager, and blocking them on bringing in actual high end MLB players to compliment the rebuild.6 points

Despite the results, Vargas going from where he was to the heater he's been on since the swing change is the kind of good news the Sox need to get out of the hole they're in. If Colson can keep making progress too, that'll be something to hopeful about as we walk through the valley of the shadow of suck.5 points

On the new ReKap podcast they had Tyson Bagent on .McGuffey asked him Sox or Cubs and he said Sox ."Gimme the Sox.Gimme the Sox.Screw the Cubbies " right in Kaps face .It was hilarious ,right at about the 28:25 mark. He did give a shout out to PCA though. Looks like he went with a PCA haircut.4 points

This post is SUCH a good example of the culture we live in. Father has concerns that his son is being put in a bad position, and because of the unique nature of sports, it’s a situation that players don’t really have any control over. Those concerns are rooted in objective facts based on the results the Bears franchise has had historically at the QB position. There is also historical precedent set by Eli Manning where a player (and father) have forced the hand of the team picking No. 1 overall, and Carl and Caleb decided not to go that route. These were concerns BEFORE Caleb was drafted, and what transpired over the course of the 2024 season was probably worse than Carl and Caleb could have predicted, with both Waldron and Eberflus being canned mid year, with the HC being called out by multiple players of his team for a lack of accountability and leadership, and Caleb wasn’t one of the players that went to the media. So with all those facts out there for everyone…you still come to the conclusion Caleb and Carl Williams are prima donna’s. Incredible.3 points

Cash considerations three times this year? Going out. We're so back boys. We're going to own every .1 WAR 30 year old reliever in MLB.3 points

this game could've been so much better. you knew with this weather and wind conditions, Wrigley was going to be a bandbox and it was going to be a high scoring game. both teams should've scored 10+. Vargas was incredible, probably the best game of his career, right? hitting the ball consistently in what seems to be a repeatable manner, but his defense in particular has impressed me. he's not 'passable' at third base, he's actually good. Vargas, Meidroth and Sosa have all played some stellar defense and all three guys I thought were 1b/dh risks. all three look like every day players at worst, you could envision Meidroth replicating a lot of Tim's production at SS with less power but better obp and better defense (we'll see). on the other end, you have Robert and Vaughn combined 0 for 8. Vaughn at least progressively crawls down the order and has more days off than he used to, but it seemed like Robert was turning a corner and then fell flat. I think Robert will be fine because it appears he's 'adding' new wrinkles to his game (walks/stolen bases) and is as good defensively as ever, but Vaughn is just...I think at this point irredeemable. There are like 4 other guys you'd rather give at bats to who combined make less than he does. I think Robert takes it personally that PCA is the hot new center fielder in town and is outperforming him in every category...he tried really hard to throw him out at home when there wasn't a chance, a stark contrast to him holding the ball last season as some nobody tagged up to win the game. I think LuBob is playing like he cares and is still contributing despite his ice cold bat. I think the biggest loser of this game though (besides all of us) is Venable. Questionable calls on positioning in that big inning, but one starts to get the impression that he'll just throw in the towel when the odds aren't very good. Castro and Gomez, who are these guys? In a lost season like this one, this series vs the Cubs is an important one and you should be managing it like you're trying to pull a miracle out of your hat. 6-2 is not an insurmountable lead particularly in these conditions. And this Sox team actually hits the ball a little bit, but the conversion rate of hits to runs has to be even worse than last year.2 points

It wasn't even that drastic of a difference in play, except we gave away so many defensive plays that this game looks like a blow out. Take those out and this is a pretty even game.2 points

Get Vaughn OFF THIS TEAM. He's the biggest rally killer every damn time and his defense is a constant anchor we lost 2-3 outs a week because of his range at 1B.2 points

I will be honest, seeing as literally nothing has changed with line up management and roster usage, it tells me that a lot of these things are happening above the field manager. When it comes to Venable, I would look to better defense and smarter base running as ways to measure what he is actually responsible for.2 points

Good to see the Sox giving up some bonus pool money. No need to spend it when you can spend it on waiver claims of 28-30 year olds.2 points

I am no fan of Amaya, but I'm not gonna celebrate the end/pause of some dude's dream. Each man's death diminishes me, For I am involved in mankind. Therefore, send not to know For whom the bell tolls, It tolls for thee. -- John Donne2 points

Dude, when you don’t mention a guy for a while then he goes away. You reset the process and now we get Schuster another month!2 points

If he knew that 2016's start was "smoke and mirrors", why did he continue to squander more resources into that team, such as the trade for Shields (fresh off of a 10 run drubbing in Seattle) and a first round pick on a reliever?2 points

He's dead to me. Liked him once and then soured as his teams flailed and he kept up the corporate speak about "competitive offers" and blah blah blah. If you don't like the budget you have, just resign, don't try and make excuses in the press. He must be angling for another job in baseball if he's doing this interview. Doubt he got paid, the exposure is the pay.2 points

Has that really ever happened though? Where the Sox trade dump someone only because JR doesn't want to pay them?1 point

This has that "Shane" McKinven, feel; he's built up a ton of equity, there's nothing to lose, so I'm good with it.1 point

JR, "Getz you're killing me with these cash deals." Besides being tall, it looks like Castro has serious control issues. It is hard to watch a bullpen guy come in and start walking people.1 point

19. Orioles: Brendan Summerhill, OF, Arizona (No. 22) Summerhill broke out of the gate looking like one of the best college performers in the country, then broke his hand, forcing him out for a month. He’s gone 8-for-19 in seven games since his return with eight walks, seven RBIs and no strikeouts. The injury situation is a BIT reminiscent of Montgomery last year...same university as Brian Anderson and Ian Kinsler. Could be an excellent "buy low/er" candidate if they like the hit tool more than LaViolette. That's just a crazy number for Jace to be well under .300 for NCAA Power 5 level play. JJ Wetherholt also had a ton of injury concerns going into the draft last year and fell from the very top of the draft.1 point

He didn't have to trade Semien, Bassitt and Tatis Jr. He didn't have to bank on signing Machado or Harper when he knew Reinsdorf sucks. He could've drafted better in the first round - of the 12 picks Hahn made, only Anderson, Rodon, Burger and Crochet have provided any value, with none of them still on the team. Jury's still out on the last couple, of course. Point is, he needs to look in the mirror.1 point

He's been pretty bad since the start of 2024, I think more people are frustrated with his performance than entertained at this current time to be honest with you. Robert is being paid, and he's not producing, which sadly supports JR's beliefs of not paying these prices for players.1 point

Not me. There's something to be said about his value now in entertaining the hard paying fans who go to games. What's wrong with paying him good money for the joy he can bring NOW? At Rate Field NOW??? We should be outraged we have to talk about money so much with Jerry's team. Pay the man and let the fans have some fun on summer nights 2025 instead of being zombies wondering why they paid to attend a Sox game. Pay and play baby! And be outraged at Jerry 24/7. The fans pay good money; management should pay some money as well to assure fans some FUN. Why is my position so outrageous to some? It's not our money to pay Robert. It's cheap Jerry's responsibility to pay a few guys so we can win.1 point

This has all been obvious for years. The Bears and White Sox have a lot in common. #1, they still think you can run a franchise like you did in the 1980s.1 point

Hey look at that! Hahn has taken a break from calling and texting people in the front office bitching and crying about getting blamed for absolutely destroying the organization he was in charge of. Good for you, Rick!1 point
