The Sox drew 2.9 million fans in 2006, good for 3rd in the AL that year. In 2007, they drew 2.6, good for 5th in the AL that year. They were also 5th in 2008, 6th in 2009. In 1991, they were 2nd in the AL in attendance, in 1992 they were 3rd, and the same spot in 1993. Sox fans have shown historically that if you put a good product on the field, people will pay money to see them play. Seems fair. Ownership has not held up their side of the agreement.

This is amazing news. I’m so happy right now. Like everyone on this board, I’ve loved the Sox for a very long time and recognize the damage that piece of s%*# has caused over the years, even sabotaging his own team’s World Series hopes to save money. I haven’t watched a full game in like 2 years. I refuse to watch something that just pisses me off. I think the Bay area metro population is 5 million while Chicago is close to 10 million. Washington metro area which includes Baltimore is about 6 million and they support 2 teams.

In regard to moving the team. I am not certain folks realize how big Chicago is when encompassing the region as compared to areas like Cincinnati, Pittsburgh. MIlwaukee etc. Yes the cubs dominate but there is still moe potential I know this comes up often but it cannot be said enough

Well think of what he was trying to do in basketball. Attempting to throw as much money around as possible to get players but there's constraints in basketball that just don't let you do that. Unless MLB is implementing a salary cap anytime soon we could see them in a whole new section of the free agent market in short order.

I would think it would be a mistake if their wasn't any parking. Alot of their fan base from the suburbs come in their car. One of the reasons why I go to White Sox games is because the parking lots are great.

It's asinine to expect to sign a power hitter when they slashed payroll again and didn't even make sign anyone for longer than a year. Who was he supposed to sign ?
