I think on some of our smaller trades, you take BPA. Best prospect available in a trade and don't drop a tier just to get position players. No knock on above proposal, just a general comment. Robert or especially if there is a Taylor deal is when I would push for position players. Astros system is weak. One 55 and two 50 FV players per MLB. Get best you can with them.6 points

Just because he is our best asset doesn't mean he is a good one.5 points

You aren't going to be able to be picky in a Robert return. He's not a substantial asset anymore. You take the best you can get at this point.4 points

Should have traded him the moment they entered the rebuild.4 points

It’s hilarious people are being picky about what we might get back. Give me any other flawed player. I don’t care anymore.4 points

He’s neg 2 DRS and Colson already plus 3 at SS. Getz and company are so freaking dumb.4 points

This just feels like something we will laugh at in a couple of years.4 points

Athletic writer mentioned Tauchman as a possible trade target for the Astros. Given his extra year of control, I’m not moving him for anything less than a 40 FV prospect. The Astros have a pretty bad farm system, so that could be someone as high as back end of their top 10. A guy I would target from them would be Joseph Sullivan. He’s a 23 year old, LH hitting OF who just hit AA. Despite above average speed, he’s more of a corner OF type. That being said, he’s put up some big numbers in High A. He’s gone from a contact oriented approach to more of a three outcome one, which shows in his K, BB, and power numbers. Obviously far from a sure thing, but I think this would be a good gamble to take in a Tauchman trade.3 points

I just don’t agree with this. In hindsight, absolutely. Trading 4 years of Robert coming off that season would’ve been tough to do imo. I just don’t think this player exists at this deadline. I wouldn’t be surprised if they take pitching in return. They need to take the best talent offered.3 points

I hope it is Vientos. The dude was legit good in 2024 and mashed in the actual playoffs. I think it's a better return than what they ultimately could end up with unfortunately. The Sox need power.3 points

I'm guessing the Mets' GM is on the phone to Getz just making random demands - "Okay, now I want to see if Sosa could run from 2nd to 3rd on a dropped popup". "We're so close. Now have Burke walk the next two batters to show he can pitch under pressure".3 points

It’s the same shitty player that is forcing everyone else to play out of position3 points

I like Vientos. Great project for Fuller to take on. Sox need power.3 points

Feels like you’d have to swap Vientos and Vargas. Personally, I think Vientos is a great fit for us. Would prefer one of their non Benge OF prospects.3 points

Let’s hope the Ishbias handle the Sox the EXACT same way they have handled the suns. They allowed their GM to spend like crazy to build a championship. They didn’t sign Beal or Durant or make the trades, they allowed their GM to space and money to do what they wanted to do. The result is on the GM, not the Ishbias3 points

I’ll be there with my Cubs fan wife and our three kids who could give two fucks about the White Sox. Should be a blast! At least give me a win baseball gods for enduring this suffering.2 points

The Sox clearly view him as only a reliever. What good does it do the Sox to have a closer the next few years? They need position prospects way more than just having Taylor.2 points
-
I don’t get it. They refuse to play Teel and Queeo at the same time but will just toss one of their most important future pieces at 3B at the most difficult level.2 points

You don’t love the idea to trade Taylor because his career is over?2 points

Only the Sox could put a young player at a position they’ve never played before early in their career.2 points

I’m in utter disbelief at how bad this is. I have been stuck circling lofts for 40 minutes now and still not finally at the ITT overflow lot. Guarantee I will miss at least three innings and that’s if security is light.2 points

It amazes me he's still in his arb years. It seems like he's been playing fot 12 years.2 points

Vientos has been a negative fWAR player in 3 of his 4 seasons. He showed some power in his 1 good season, so, at a cheap price, perhaps take a chance. Vientos is also a poor defender. Poor D was a huge problem with the last buildup. Accepting poor defense this early, especially from such a marginal player, doesn’t seem like the best idea. Speed and baserunning should also be a priority (not so much thusfar).2 points

Yeah it seems like people are expecting more than they should. Vientos his 32 home runs last year between regular season and postseason in 124 games. Not sure what is going on with him this year but seems like a good gamble to get that 30 home run power back and have him at 1B. That would set your infield for the future with Vientos-Meidroth-Montgomery-Vargas2 points

If they are getting Vientos there better be a good second piece too like Gilbert or Ewing.2 points

I’m thinking this is because teams want to see proof that he’s healthy before they pull the trigger on trading for him.2 points

Also, was planing to wear my Robert jersey as a final send off but the guy is such a wimp that I have pivoted to my 20 year old Jenks jersey. Real heroes deserve to be honored, not ones afraid to play through a little groin pain a week before the trade deadline.2 points

Robert isn’t bringing in anything that doesn’t have massive warts. He is just as much of a bum.2 points

He’s out again??? Now I’m starting to get worried about getting anything for him.2 points

He’s out again today. So tired of him, god forbid he run hard and not get injured during a season.2 points

Is it? Is Vientos even good? He’s a one tool, slow, RH hitting 1B / DH who is hitting worse than Robert right now. His success last year was driven by a 92 percentile barrel rate, which has fallen off a cliff. Can he get back to that elite level? To me, his 2024 season feels like a total outlier. Maybe there is some underlying issue that can be corrected, but I am not excited about acquiring a project 1B / DH type who has four years of control left and will further limit our flexibility in the infield.2 points

How do you fit him and Vargas into lineup everyday over the next 4+ seasons? Especially with the Sox seemingly giving up on Vargas at 3B. They feel like extremely similar players.2 points
-
I believe he was traded by Milwaukee because he wanted to continue being a starting pitcher and they wanted to use him in the bullpen. As far as attitudes go that isn't so bad to still believe you can start.2 points
