jesus that has our revenue as the 2nd lowest in league while still being treated as a big market team. JR is so, so bad at this.4 points
-
I don't know. Someone told me he doesn't have what it takes to be a head coach.3 points
-
That 277 million dollars is not telling the whole story. They're not counting the national TV money and merchandise money. The total revenue is closer to $400 million dollars.3 points
-
Now this is a valid takeaway, and it's why the end of the Jerry Reinsdorf era can't come soon enough.2 points
-
That's the real takeaway - there's no robber baron twirling his mustache while making money hand over fist. JR is an incompetent businessman at running an MLB team. There's no reason this team should only be ahead of the Athletics in revenue, and that's likely only because that team is in the middle of historically fucking over their fan base.2 points

Good accounting of the paperwork the White Sox have before them right now. Our own @ChiSoxFanMike gets name-checked. Offseason Outlook: Chicago White Sox - MLB Trade Rumors1 point

Figured I'll do another catchall thread for this year's AFL and winter ball developments. As a reminder, the Sox prospects playing in Arizona: LHP Hagen Smith RHP Jarold Rosado RHP Carson Jacobs RHP Connor McCullough RHP Tyler Davis IF Sam Antonacci 1B Ryan Galanie OF Braden Montgomery OF Caden Connor Braden will be joining later in the season after getting back into game shape following a small foot fracture from a HBP. Most of these guys are fresh off of the Barons run to back to back Southern League titles. A couple have upcoming Rule 5 decisions. I'll also keep an eye out for guys getting winter ball reps in: Sosa's excellent LVBP results did seem to translate some to his MLB performance. Looks like he'll be back for this season, we'll see where on the IF he plays.1 point

if I had to wager a guess about the pitching coach, it'll be Zaleski. Or Bannister has some guy in mind from outside the org. I like the idea of someone with Tom House kinds of credentials, even Mark Prior, solid MLB pitchers who maintained an interest in academics during/post playing career. Someone who actually knows how to teach.1 point

I haven't seen anything beyond this one set of listicles dropping a bunch of names: 10 potential candidates to become the next White Sox hitting coach | Sox On 35th 10 potential candidates to become the next White Sox pitching coach | Sox On 35th1 point

Ohtani's inflation adjusted deal is calculated at $46 million per year. And they haven't had to use Kopech Scott Yates and Treinen, well, just for a handful of key outs. That's over $70 million on the pen.1 point

He's been alienating fans almost from the get-go and his numerous PR blunders have been discussed ad nauseum. But Jerry really squandered a couple of golden opportunities to build the Sox into a marketable, big-market team. First when the State of Illinois gifted him a new stadium at gun point and he had a soulless dud of a facility built that focused on luxury suites and corporate clients over the regular fans. Then second was after they won the World Series. Instead of building on momentum from that championship by pouring resources into the farm system and high-quality free agents, we ended up with 2 decades of mostly teams that were underachievers at best. I wonder how much lack of corporate sponsorship factors into them having the 2nd lowest revenue in the league.1 point

Where are all those great rising players today ? Funny how 1 manager has so much power to turn those risers to rust. Face it the players were not who you thought they were. There is 1 true fall guy for the fall of the franchise and your arrow keep missing the mark.1 point
-
Also worth pointing out that the free agency pool just isn’t that deep. I’ll spend the $160M on Bieber. What kind of deal is he getting. Just kind of confused what “spend big on one player for $160M” means. $150M, 6 year deal for Alonso? What else really?1 point
-
That was the case in 2024, when only the A's in their final season at the Coliseum were lower. How do you not beat the Rays Marlins Pirates etc.?1 point
-
Or $160M worth of computers. At least Naylor is 1 player. Very few stuck to your ask, 1 player that's your pick for $160M. So many afraid of being wrong they pick invisible things .1 point

I think most fans already knew and expected this especially with labor uncertainty on the horizon. JR won't take risks in the best of times, with the 2027 season in some jeopardy he won't do a damn thing.1 point

I can go either way, but think there is a difference in acquiring a one year rental vs. a guy that can be with you for 2-3 years. If it's the latter, I'm fine making that move now, and we've seen them attempt to do it before (Claypool, Sweat) Additionally, thus far the track record for Poles with OL/DL linemen has been absolute s%*#, so not sure how much confidence I have in the draft route. They need help BAD on the DL, and as soon as possible. The Broncos have 30 sacks on the year. The Bears have 8.1 point

https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2025-mlb-farm-system-statcast-hitting-rankings/ Sox with second best swing decision score. Love seeing them prioritize guys who don’t chase. Twins and Tigers ahead of the Sox. Sox were 14th in 2024 and 19th in 2022. Not sure how this translates to actual major league success, but nice to see the Sox system moving up. Hopefully a solid draft this year moves them into the top 5.1 point

If they are somehow able to acquire a guy that can truly impact that side of the ball up front....team looks much different. They have shown they can generate takeaways, and have been doing it with NO pass rush to speak of. You start putting real pressure on the QB and things will look even better. I know the offense has been somewhat up and down but I think they will continue to improve. A real pass rush makes this team pretty good honestly, not a SB contender but someone I wouldn't want to play in the playoffs.1 point

It does. I will say this clearly, again. Jerry Reinsdorf had to prematurely bring on a new buyer for a capital infusion to pay for operations losses turning into operations debt. YOU DON'T ACCUMULATE DEBT FOR PAPER LOSSES! No is is faking losses by faking debt and pissing away interest payments. This is real.1 point

He criticized Caleb for everything, it was bizarre. Daniels had a pick and a fumble and you never would have known it1 point

No, it isn't. Payroll is not a teams only expense, far from it. It's not a complete comparison. It would be like comparing your paycheck to your car payment and then calling yourself rich.1 point

That says to me that this team could very easily afford a $250m annual payroll.1 point

His nickname is “big dumper” because he has a big ass, which I guess this means it will plug him up. I dunno, it’s a lot. Not sure I would want to be known as that guy lol1 point

I’m not understanding the butt plug association. Please explain. (Words I never thought I’d say)1 point

It’s the 5th inning and Toronto is intentionally walking Raleigh for Julio Rodriguez. Like Damn he has managers afraid1 point

The difference is that we had Vaughn for the better part of 5 seasons...if we held onto him, he started hitting like this for us, where does that leave us? Perhaps a trade in December or next July for a decent, prospect. There is not much opportunity cost either way with Vaughn. Not trading Civale at the deadline was a bigger screwup than trading Vaughn for him. The opportunity lost in trading Semien and Basset was massive: years of control for 2 players who turned out to be excellent. And for what? For our 73 win team to rent Samardiza for a season. And Hahn was preening and strutting after that trade.1 point

On a serious note, there was a lot of bitching and moaning about Raleigh over Judge for MVP. Raleigh has continued to lead his team in every way in this playoffs, he absolutely deserves it1 point

It's fun to pretend that sitting on the internet and eating Twinkies gives me special perspective about baseball that being a HOF manager doesn't. The guy would take naps in the dugout and still wrung a playoff series out of a group that would disintegrate two years later. .1 point

Smith done after 3 innings. 0R, 3H, 2BB, 4K. McCullough came on in relief and gave up a solo shot. Sox prospects chipping in for a rally to take the lead: RBI single for Connor, 2 RBI double and a SB for Antonacci for a 3-1 lead in the 5th. Clean second inning for McCullough.1 point
