  1. The National Equirer is more accurate than that guy.

  3. I don't understand why there'd even be interest on a minor league deal. Any MLB organization seriously considering Patrick Wisdom at this point in his career should be embarrassed.

  4. Rough. I liked their grit today but they left a lot on the field. Not scoring after that interception early was not good. Gotta regroup and beat the Browns and then beat the Packers in Chicago.

  9. Not bad at all. Let's keep Robert and build around him using some of Ishbia's money. If we wait much longer, there won't be any new fans to give a crap about this franchise.

  10. Robert is 100% being shopped despite the typical “GM speak” from Getz. No other mention of outfield moves which probably makes sense given Robert posturing. It seems like we’re very open to moving a catcher if a quality offer comes in. Vasil staying in the bullpen is now 100% confirmed as others had said. A decent LH corner infielder will likely be added in FA. My money remains on that being a 1B rather than 3B and the primary target being O’Hearn given his price tag and connection to Fuller. Not mentioned in your post, but Getz mentioned Burke & Cannon would be competing for rotation spots (unlike Smith & Davis) which suggests that another SP will be added.

  12. Yes. Who in their right mind would decide to use a fictional character as an internet screen name, right Caulfield? The odds are incalculable.

  13. Lamond Pope writes a "3 questions" article about the Winter meetings. Chicago White Sox: 3 questions entering the winter meetings Of note: - “It’s very truthful that we are not shopping him (Luis Robert), because we’re very comfortable having him in a White Sox uniform, knowing what he’s capable of doing. Now if it makes sense for both parties to work out a deal, then so be it. But we’re planning on him being in uniform for us next year.” - “To have three guys who can be quality catchers at the major-league level. There could be a time for reallocation or repurpose to make the roster a little bit more functional. Is that time now? I don’t think so. I don’t. But down the road, you never know.” - While it remains to be seen how the rotation shakes out, Getz said both Mike Vasil and Grant Taylor will remain in their relief roles. - “We have an ability to cover those positions and be fairly productive,” Getz said of the corner spots, “but I think there’s going to be some opportunity in just balancing that attack a little bit better (with a lefty bat).

  14. Pretty much. Not much trade ammo left and don't expect significant spending. All about the youngsters developing at this point. Feel free to talk draft/lottery in the FutureSox draft thread. I'd love to be in a position to draft Roch or Lombard. Personally holding off on diving too deep into draft research until we know what the pick is. I'm already bracing myself for sadness. Edit: Also expect an interesting Rule 5 selection. Likely a pitcher. Lots of worthwhile arms to pick from.

  15. He has to be better than that. Think he started the game 0/6. His inconsistent play has been overlooked because of the victories, but there have been very few games this season where he’s been the better QB on the field for all 60 minutes. Need more from the No. 1 overall pick

  16. This game was a play or two away from going the Bears way. Yes it an L, but the Bears are proving they can play with anyone

  17. Unless you are talking about 1 years worth of payroll, you aren't even close. Realistically you could spend over a billion dollars in contracts this off season and get this group back to .500. This is a team that needs 3-4 starters, almost an entire bullpen, and 6 to 7 starting position players next season to have a playoff chance.

  18. Pirates have made a 4 year offer to Schwarber per Rosenthal. You know your favorite franchise has hit rock bottom when Bob fucking Nutting is trying to blow your biggest free agent contract out of the water.

  19. I’m sold. Take him second round pick if he’s there

  20. Yeah there was no reason for Robert to take that. His agent is now Boras. He’ll play out his remaining contract and sign for the best deal. He’s better off gambling on his talent than taking a cheap extension.

  22. Can't only play one good half of football against them, especially at home. Just get right on the Browns next week and then beat them in Chicago.

  23. Jeff Kent, welcome to Cooperstown. In my opinion, he was the most deserving. So I have no problem. But I am surprised Mattingly didn’t get in after Dave Parker last year.

  24. Frankly I didn't think the Bears were winning today so I'm not that upset with the final score. And they honestly played pretty well in a tough place, they deserve credit. The key game considering the remaining schedule is next week. Beat the Browns, get to 10 wins and you have a very reasonable chance to make the playoffs as a wild card.

  25. Caleb ended the 1st half with what, like 17 yards passing? That can’t happen moving forward. The hero ball/drives late have created some super memorable endings this season, but not doing much in the first half is going to come back to bite them against good teams.

  32. This game kind of reminded me of a boxing match where the more talented boxer came out guns blazing, other guy ate some punches, stayed in the fight, and started to gas out the other guy. Usually the more talented guy wins, but we’ll see. Game in two weeks in Chicago should be very competitive, and as we’ve said…Bears gotta take care of business against the Browns, and beat these fuckers at home in two weeks.
