Santos, Houser and Robert trades are all fine imo. Fedde/Kopech wasn't great, Cease was bad.6 points

I do have hope. I hope we don't lose 100 games 4 years in a row. Doesn't that make you miserable?3 points

This is why I don’t get the complaints about the Carlson pick before he’s even entered full season ball. The defense has a chance to be truly elite and there is plenty of offensive upside including some legit power potential. At the 1.10, I’m not sure what else you could ask for us.3 points

I’ll keep saying it, but Meidroth is not the same as Madrigal. The former is one of the most selective hitters and the other is one of the most aggressive. Both have great bat to ball skills and not much power, but Meidroth is going to get on base at a significantly higher rate than Nick and has much better baseball IQ. Obviously it’s very much possible that the lack of power pushes Chase to a reserve infielder role, but he does offer a different and better skill set than Madrigal.3 points

Meidroth had more HR’s and BB’s last year than Madrigal has had in his career.3 points

I mean, I get the timeline…but it’s still shocking that a 27 year old Sam Darnold led the Vikings to a 14-3 record in 2024 (4300 yards, 35/12 TD/INT) and Minnesota said “Nah, we’re good, let’s use a Top 10 pick on JJ McCarthy”3 points

I get your point but this is a professional media organization. What an individual owner does or does not do has no bearing on the preparation and job they are supposed to be doing.3 points

At this point just give Sosa an OF glove and sign a starter that can at least give you a little something every 5 days.2 points

There's really no reason to bring back a broken down Tauchman in any capacity. He was terrible in the field last year and his legs are shot. He also saw a huge drop-off at the plate the final 2 months of the season (.220 BA). At 35 yrs old, it isn't going to get any better for him. Bringing him back to just DFA him a month or two later doesn't make sense, especially when so many guys currently on the 40-man are way younger and out of options.2 points

Price is probably fine if you are trying to compete and need a CF, but the fit makes no sense for us. I could honestly see Acuna providing as much fWAR as Bader next year if Luisangel can tap into his power some. Bader’s bat is going to regress a lot next year and there is no simply no reason to block Acuna in 2026.2 points

Every GM says stuff like this in every sport. It's not a big deal. It's like when a team picking 20th says how whoever they picked would have been their pick if they had #1.2 points

Acuna is your starting CF. Getz pretty much told you that when they traded for him in the Robert Deal.2 points

All true but not possible atm . I take more of a coach or parent perspective than I do as a fan. I cannot pour a lot or hate into a team I profess to love. Winning is great and we root for those who conquer their opponents . I understand the dynamic. I just rather pretend I'm a coach patting them on the back more than crying that their performances hurt me. I realize that makes me an oddball fan because I don't call players mental midgets or hate on the people under JRs management for sucking at development but then turning around and not giving coaches credit for actually giving players the tools to reach their potetial. Most of these guys can point to people or coaches in their development that made a difference. I'm hoping now with some recent examples that the Sox have more modern processes in place to maximize development. As fans were not going to remember the behind the scenes things or even be aware of most of it But to be aware of it to a degree and deny its existence seems like you prefer misery to hope. Or that winning is the only thing that matters. I like the good human interest stories too.2 points

I’m not sure what I should/allowed to post. But “Carlson is an electric defender at shortstop with an 80 arm and surprising power for someone who has barely begun to fill out his frame, coming into pro ball with a high floor thanks to that combination and the upside of a frequent All-Star if the White Sox can help him get to more contact with some swing changes.” Law List Athletic2 points

January 26, 1983 - The Sox and G. M. Roland Hemond embarrassed the Cubs by hinting through the media that they might select pitcher Fergie Jenkins after the Cubs left him unprotected in the free agent draft. Jenkins, the future Hall of Famer, was getting close to the magical 300-win mark in his career. The Sox were entitled to compensation after losing outfielder Steve Kemp to the Yankees. The Cubs were forced to trade Scott Fletcher, Dick “Dirt” Tidrow, Randy Martz and Pat Tabler to the Sox for a promise not to take Jenkins, along with pitchers Steve Trout and Warren Brusstar. The Sox then traded Tabler for Jerry Dybzinski. After it was all said and done, Cub G.M. Dallas Green was quoted as saying, “To say I’m relieved probably would be an understatement.” Fletcher would be a part of the 1983 divisional champion but his bigger impact perhaps came in 1990, for the “Doin' the Little Things” White Sox, who shocked baseball by winning 94 games. Fletcher was a defensive rock at second base and executed small things like bunting, hitting behind a runner and to the opposite field and driving in key runs exceptionally well. Tidrow did just about everything a relief pitcher could do in 1983 and Dybzinski stabilized a shaky infield in the early part of that same season. Unfortunately, his base running error in game #4 of the A.L.C.S. is what he is best remembered for. The Sox starting staff was so deep in 1983, with seven pitchers on the roster who all won at least 10 games in a Major League season, that Martz never really got a chance. He only made one emergency start that year in a game at Detroit. Those other pitchers who won at least 10 games were LaMarr Hoyt, Rich Dotson, Floyd Bannister, Britt Burns, Jerry Koosman and Steve Mura.2 points

Good sign here. Law is better with positional prospects than pitching prospects IMO and he appears to be on the high end for Braden and Carlson.2 points

Good video reference. Luckily, Garfien actually worded it correctly. ”In 2022, they had a payroll over $180 million dollars. The problem was how they spent the money and who they spent it on.” Acting like spending money is bad is ridiculous.2 points
-
All true but it would be nice to sign a few higher end players with the intent of keeping them. The third largest market, only the 2 teams that played in minor league stadiums last year had a lower payroll. Every team should look for a diamond in the rough, but the constant churning of mediocre talent for different mediocre talent is not a winning strategy.2 points
-
Are those rhetorical questions at the end ? Those are impossible question to answer. That's why there are multiple ways to acquire new young players every year and why there are multiple levels of the minor leagues and lots and lots of coaches, scouts, development people, Analytics people to try to enhance and develop their skills. Is every team supposed to stop trying to find bargains ? Again it sucks not to just have to wave money around to snap up the best and the brightest but even those deemed the best and brightest among the top prospects fail over and over. The object is always to teach and develop for every team. Bargains become superstars . International players signed for way below the top players do succeed too.2 points
-
funny how small market habitual losing teams sign to flip and waiting for their competitive (just around mediocre) moment to arrive. It's just a rinse and repeat. We are so conditioned to that. We would make perfect Marlin fans. Maybe some of you are young enough real winning will happen in your lifetime. The sign to flip takes less than 10 posts to show up. Quality pieces as we think. But what exactly are those? How many of those exist on the farm as of now?2 points

Feels like the Pats just had the least deserving path to the Super Bowl of all time (both regular and post season). Hope they get destroyed by the Seahawks.2 points

I think Braden comes much sooner than that if all goes well (big caveat). That being said, it’s part of the reason you add a cheap vet to hedge against any delay in his readiness. And I fully agree those are the three guys who should get the focus heading into camp. And given two of them are RH hitters, I think that vet we bring in being LH makes the most sense. Tauchman just checks a lot of boxes. As for Kelenic, I view him as a lottery ticket who needs to go absolute HAM in camp to make the OD roster. However, in the unlikely event he figures things out, he should still have two more seasons of club control and I doubt he gets traded.1 point

I hope they don't lose 100+ games again this year but the starting pitching is poor, the injury history since 2018 has been brutal, they are going to be playing a lot of relatively unproven kids and JR is still running the show. It certainly possible they continue to bottom out again.1 point

No one is forcing you to be unhappy except your own standards you just said that. So either you enjoy unhappiness , your standards are too high or you need another team that meets your standards. See I care about your happiness.1 point

I hope he did sign here with the hopes of being traded to a contender, that's his purpose here. For where the White Sox are now, this is what they should be doing. If they rebuild this thing and are contending for playoffs every year, then yeah, I would be pretty disappointed if they were signing flip candidates. For todays roster, its what is for the best for the future.1 point
-
No frankly it doesnt. I like them to win too. Im the same way in that regard but u cant hide misery , it affects your mood and I need not be miserable with more important matters. I dont think they will lose 4 in a row with 100 losses. Why would you even think that way ?1 point
-
If the median outcome is Royce Clayton that's a pretty good trade chip, or super utility defense guy. I'd be content with that outcome.1 point
-
It's really hard to fix, as you're rebuilding a significant timing mechanism in their swing. Burger had the same issue but he made it work for a while. I think big leg kicks are hard to fix for a similar reason. Dansby Swanson is a comp for Carlson on the high end and I wouldn't mind that at all.1 point

The Sox have unproven outfielders that they want to give a chance to with playing time and at bats. Not to mention Montgomery that will be arriving soon.1 point
-
And are yet to prove they know how to build a winner, period.1 point

he had a big time hitch in his swing when drafted. hopefully they can get his hands through the zone quicker or he'll never hit enough to be more than a utility player.1 point

It is so outrageous to have a negative opinion on a franchise that is on it's third straight 100 loss season, has never signed anyone to a nine figure contract, and has one of the lowest rates of being in the playoffs of any original franchise.1 point
-
He seems like a guy that 1/4 the time turns into a borderline AS, 2 time out of 4 turns into a weak starter or solid utility guy and of course the other 1/4 just never hits enough to make MLB. Not a bad projection at that draft spot, agree with @Chicago White Sox1 point

I don't think the Bears would have beaten Seattle for the NFC title but they definitely had a chance at beating either New England or Denver (especially with Nix out). Seattle will demolish the frauds from NE though.1 point
