As someone that basically never gets into it with other posters, I’m so tired of every thread ending up with the same cast of characters bickering. I’m not saying anyone is particularly wrong, but I speak for myself when I say I don’t even read what is posted by these posters when I see it’s become a personal argument.10 points

I’m impressed how every thread on this forum ends up in an argument about Chris Getz.5 points

I really don't get this attitude about the Murakami signing. Do you think other teams and fans are talking about how signing Jorge Polanco and Cody Pence made their off-season great? Of course not. The worst part of Murakami is if he's great, he probably won't even be here when the Sox are good. There's also a very real possibility he can't cut it in the MLB. The difference between Polanco and Murakami is Murakami's unknown gives him a higher perceived ceiling, but his range of outcomes makes him a riskier signing. The White Sox don't deserve an A or B until they actually spend some REAL cash.4 points

The mods need to nip it in the bud. I saw this thread labeled "hot" this morning and figured maybe it was you know, about the article. Turns out it was just the same few people taking personal shots at each other mixed in with some baseball content here and there. I'm tired of it as well. As someone that grew out of that style posting years ago it confounds me that people don't just block and move on. Who has the energy and time to argue with the same folks over and over again once you're out of your 20s?3 points

Rage post ? Is that a thing ? Isn't that what you do to @tray and anyone who challenges you. Everyone knows you need to have the last word because you'll bicker forever. And I just told you I care about your happiness. Your standards weren't so high on the last rebuild. You understood the whole better to suck and reap the rewards of sucking than stay mediocre but now you rage post about 100 loss seasons in a rebuild. Obsessed ? Dont flatter yourself. If I was obsessed I'd announce to the whole board that I researched you, discovered your 1st name and an old twitter handle, (I didn't), like your little sidekick did to me . LOL oh no he really got me there 🤣 And we'll have JR out of the way once the Ishbias take over. Happy days dead ahead ! 😘3 points

I like Baldwin a lot too, but I do not like how they have handled him at the major league level. It’s been very uneven playing time and not consistent at any position, and then they wonder why he looks off in the outfield sometimes. Let the kid figure it out or the trash will take itself out3 points

My daughter got me a signed Robert jersey for Christmas in 21 and it’s on my wall just kinda looking pathetic now3 points

Conforto is not a MLB caliber starter. Hence why no one is going to sign him to start everyday... except maybe the White Sox. The White Sox aren't rebuilding, they're bad. People should really stop using the word rebuilding to describe BAD baseball teams.3 points

The Sox have nothing on the books going forward. If Murakami is good, I don’t see any reason why they couldn’t sign him. It’s still a 1B/DH. You’re looking at inflation on a deal like Pete Alonso possibly. I think Sox will do stuff like that from 2028 on etc.3 points
-
Let’s be honest, if he’s better than expected, he will be playing for the Dodgers after the Sox trade him. I’m excited to watch him play, but I would never buy a jersey for a guy who will be here for two years max.3 points

I don’t see how you can give it a B and then say there are holes in all 3 OF spots3 points

You guys are all really kind. The Sox have signed four players. 2 relievers, a guy who signed for less than Jorge Polanco, and a possible SP. They came in with a bottom 3 payroll despite not being a bottom 3 market or revenue team, and they still have a bottom 3 payroll. I'm not sure how anyone can give this teams offseason a positive grade given their payroll and general investment in the roster. We are just so desperate for something good or positive... They've lowered the bar so low, and it's somehow worked on many fans.3 points

A "great offseason?" Incredible. Jeeze guy, have a little more self respect and higher expectations.3 points

You have the magic touch. You can make anyone disappear. We just need another signing to discuss, but I think Getz is waiting out for one of Hays / Conforto / Tauchman to accept his offer of a MILB deal along with a $100 dollar gift card to Red Lobster.2 points

Not a fantasy guy by any means, but both Oppor and Jeral Perez made breakout dynasty fantasy lists for BA.2 points

Actually I said I was concerned about his Ks and you laugh emoji like 3 posts in a row, and then you didn’t have s%*# to say when Colson had K issues. Which has been the Cali experience for most everyone on this board. Cali shows up, talks down to everyone, tells everyone how much better of a fan he is, then boasts about his fan positivity! I love it, it’s great. But again, I’m glad you are so concerned with what I think!2 points

ZIPS has Baldwin at .8 projected fWAR and a 98 wRC+. We have "handed" starting jobs to worse players, worse older players, in "contending" years. The dead wood in the OF that doesn't deserve to start is Beni, not Brooks. Brooks is young, has 4 years of control left and might be a decent regular. Starting him 5 days out of the week in LF is fine.2 points

Again, if you are evaluating rookies (or minor leaguers) only using full season stats then you are doing things wrong. Candidly it’s just lazy and I’d be pissed if one of my analysts took such a simple approach to evaluation. The reality is his AAA stats were elite, his major league production after returning from his demotion was really good, and he looked the part using the eye test if you actually watched him. His physical tools are also much louder than most people realize (his 25th ranking last year missed the mark) and most scouts view him as a high makeup guy. There are so many reasons to believe this guy is going to put up a +100 wRC+ next year and potentially blow it out of the water. If you want to over-index on a player’s first 130 PA’s that’s on you, but I saw a player who was adjusting and getting better as the year progressed and all the underlying data backs that up. I also got to chuckle at the idea that Baldwin shouldn’t be handed a spot after a strong 200 PA performance in real major league games, but should potentially lose out an opportunity to the likes of Jarred Kelenic over a tiny set of meaningful spring training at-bats. Is that really your stance on this?2 points

They still have a long ways to go - but they are not anywhere close to the worst JR franchise / worse franchise in Chicago. Bulls are in such a worse spot. Sox actually feel like they are in the best position in a long time - with a new owner looming (and at this point - I have to assume anything is better) combined with at least what is an improving farm system and development org. But they are still a ways off and I would like nothing more than see them ink Gio to a 1 and 1 type deal (tradeable asset) and/or someone else. None of those moves prevent you from getting the 11th pick in the draft (which is best club can do) and I'd also like to see us find ways for the org to acquire some more draft picks / international money in the future. But more than anything - combo of a new owner and improving system (combined with a golden opportunity upcoming in this year(s) draft - and Its best I have felt in a long time (even though the major league club will still be very very bad).2 points

So this date 45 years ago was when we signed up for pure misery at Sox fans. Really can't underestimate how unfortunate JR's run has been to 2 of my big 3 franchise(s).2 points

Plenty of organizations do OK without money, and plenty don't. White Sox problem is they just hired familiarity and not someone who has been exposed to and is capable of putting together a team without much money. JR wasn't going to go down that path again. He did with Himes, and didn't like Larry because Larry wanted JR to stay out of his way. He built a 94 win team with the lowest payroll in baseball and got fired because JR couldn't take credit for any of the acquisitions.2 points

Fully agree on Kelenic. He’s getting way too much attention because he was a big name prospect at one point. At least Acuna & Pereira haven’t had multiple years of failure at the major league level like Kelenic. He’s a fantastic minor league deal guy, but he should have to prove himself at Charlotte before he enters the major league calculus.2 points

I think you need to separate out the payroll issue. That’s a decision made by Jerry and caps what Getz can accomplish. Under those constraints and understanding the context of where we are at in our rebuild, I’d call the offseason solid. I agree that our level of payroll is an embarrassment and Jerry should be lambasted.2 points

No options and < 1% chance he makes the Opening Day roster. Until you add another OF, you should probably keep Hill.2 points

Eddy, this organization has broken you and yet seduced you into believing them.2 points

Huh? I've said the exact opposite. The sign to trade strategy almost never happens, never works, and is a fantasy made up by fans. Players don't sign for a market rate and then get dealt for much more 3 months later without fundamentally changing who they are, which rarely happens. They're also human beings so it's a pretty terrible employee relations strategy. I want to sign MLB caliber starters to play and try to win baseball games. The fact that is a foreign concept shows how far your brain has fallen into this perpetual rebuild trap and obsession. Which is really just what shitty owners and teams has sold fans as the reason for being bad.2 points

They're not defending A.L. Champs, or something. They're a rebuilding team with a clump of prospects primed to graduate to the big team this year. "Massive" holes? They're 9 weeks away from opening day. They need one starting pitcher, and maybe a part-time OF as training wheels for Baldwin, Acuña and Pereira/Kelenic. Austin Hays would be an expensive Mike Tauchman, who is still out there. Sean Burke can be that one starting pitcher.1 point

I think Murakami was a fantastic signing and I’m also a fan of the pitching signings they have made. They just need to spend more to fill in the rest of the gaps.1 point

I hate being miserable about this team. Misery has long given away to apathy, and now I’m just watching what appears to be a lot of deck chair moving. I won’t be surprised if they lose 90+ again this season. It’s going to take a lot of these kids figuring it out all at once, and you rarely see that kind of jump. I’m not saying it’s impossible but it’s not very probable. and another thing about my opinion on this team: im not trying to convince anyone here to follow along, im not criticizing you if you believe they are gonna win 90, it doesn’t matter to me. If you want to believe it, go ahead. My comment about WBWSF saying tra la la the white Sox are coming is true, he has said that every season I have known him including the last 31 point
