  1. Sandlin's statcast metrics and repertoire look meaningfully different this season compared to last. Against righties, he's throwing about 40% 4-seam, 31% sweepers, 20% sinkers, and a curveball or cutter here and there. Last season against righties, the 4-seam was only 14%, the sweeper was 27%, a cutter was being used for 19% of pitches, 10% were a slider, and 30% was the sinker. He got a lot of whiffs on those non-sinker offerings to righties in 2025 but when there was contact he was hit really hard. Not quite so many whiffs this year, but the contact has been much weaker. Against lefties, leaning even harder on the 4-seam using it 48% of the time. The featured offspeeds are an 81mph curveball for 21% of pitches and a 91mph cutter for 17%. There's also a 91mph "sinker" used about 10% of pitches that I suspect is a kick change. Last season, he only threw the 4 seam 27% of the time to the lefties and really just had a kitchen sink approach: 26% cutter, 17% sweeper, 13% sinker, 10% slider, 7% curveball. None of it really worked in 2025. Lefties haven't really hit him at all in this short stint in 2026. Besides the difference in mix, the pitches don't seem the same. The curveball is slower and bigger. He's no longer throwing a slider. This year's cutter has more depth. This year's sweeper has a lot more drop with the same big sideways break. The 4-seam has a much lower spin rate and slightly less rise but has been a lot more effective. I suspect he was slightly cutting the 4-seamer last year which tends to create wasted spin. It's interesting to see all that change and the mostly-good results in AAA, but it also makes you think he might not have enough reps to be consistent with all this new stuff. Hope it all goes well.
  2. The problem is that it isn't that the ump is awful, it's that they have to be drug out as the "female" ump. Talk about her skill all you like, but dragging out her gender with it is crap. No one called Joe West that awful "male" ump, as his sex had nothing to do with his awfulness. True equity is wrapping on people for their relative abilities, not their sex organs.
  3. You sure as hell don’t start running into right field
  4. They were searching all of the addendums for another way to screw the Sox
  5. I wouldn't say my screen name 3 times if you know what's good for you.
  6. Once he's down to two strikes I think you have to let him swing away
  7. Venable over managed the Riku AB let him put the ball in play.
  8. TBH, I think it is very unlikely that Rikuu can give the defensive value that Eaton did. Eaton was just a really good player, could do a little bit of everything. That's why he was able to put together one of the best White Sox position player seasons of all time.
  9. would have lost 2-1 in 9 innings if that was true
  10. Amazing. 10 game losing streak. This is a same team that had a 20-3 stretch this season.
  11. It was a decent pitch selection but the location was butchered. Needed to be burried in the dirt.
  12. Yes, especially when it concerned Ramirez.
  13. Eh, could have happened anywhere and anytime. He could have gotten injured playing for the Sox in ST. s%*# happens.
  14. The big issue was Teel getting hurt at the WBC playing for ITALY! In hindsight, he should have been told not to do it.
  15. Borat would say it’s harder for them due to their smaller brain
  16. She’s proven herself to be awful. There’s nothing merit-based about a person coming up to the majors, be it in St or reg season, and consistently blowing calls. She missed an obvious check swing tonight, too….wasn’t even close. She/he/they/ are fucking awful at their job, man. The Twins were out of challenges. The crew chief thought another look was warranted. How often do we see that happen?
  17. On one hand, they should have won that game three times over: Botched calls by the crew Riku botched bunt followed by Sam’s hit Mune pulling the ball instead of lifting it On the other hand, they had no business even tying the game.
  18. As much as I want Rikuu to rake, I still get a Duke Ellis vibe. Maybe he replaces Acuña.
  19. You are surprised that a callup from AAA is not as good as most of the major leaguers? Isn't that exactly what you would expect from players? And now we're mad that she made what appeared to be a correct call at first base because New York reviewed it and called it wrong?
  20. Im lost as to why we bunt with two strikes with a lefty contact hitter.
  21. Jen Pawol is a terrible umpire. There are also some terrible male umps. It doesn’t have to be labeled misogynistic when it’s true. I don’t believe a woman can’t be a great umpire, but I have no idea how she was the one they chose.
  22. I'm fine with bunting Rikuu. I did not like bunting with two strikes because this is allegedly your god-tier contact bat and the success rate of bunts even with a good bunter is not high enough to risk it there.
  23. Coin flip game, we lost this one. Good news is the 2026 Sox don't seem to let the bad games roll together
  24. Im just confused. He froze on contact, watched the play unfold, saw the ball bounce and... stood still. Like a deer in headlights. He had two options, immediately break for second or go right back to the base. He did neither lol.
  25. Only way Sam could have prevented the loss is if Bell made a huge mistake
  26. If he is playing we aren’t in this spot because he hit 3 bombs and has 8 RBIs.
  27. Nishida is the greatest promotion this organization has ever made. Extend him. 9/150
  28. How is a good story for the Twins to win when all of Japan not cheering for Dodgers Cubs is for the White Sox, lol? Margaret Atwood could have made that call.
  29. I don't understand how they possibly could've overturned that. That is just absolutely ridiculous. And when the other team doesn't even have a review
  30. What a horse**** call. Whichever way that would have gone, I could support the call standing, but to overturn that is in no way conclusive.
  31. Among many other better thing this season, we finally have players that fit our park factors.
  32. I injury and White Sox - no trust factor from me.
  33. Benintendi with a career 1.239 OPS vs. Ryan in 7 games. Hope it keeps up tonight.
  34. Jacob Gonzalez was a bonafide bust prior to like 4-5 weeks ago when he got hot. It's great to see him raking, and let's hope it continues. But the Sox don't need someone at the positions he can play. Sox likely prefer he stay hot by playing everyday versus riding the pine in the big leagues. Nishida has actually been playing the OF regularly for a few seasons. Gonzalez is not a good runner and could not play the OF. Gonzalez will get his chance if he continues to hit, but the Sox owe him nothing.
  35. Groovy… if a ballpark goes in there around 203x then I’ll probably be able to get the f*** out of Cali finally 😆
  36. Yep. Unable to access from my phone. Sucks. Only can access at work, and well --- I am buried at work these days.
  37. It is his turn in the rotation. I doubt they get him off schedule. Either opener for or piggyback off Burke today, then reassess.
  38. I'm at the point where I'm cool with Emerson, Lackey or Roch, can't go wrong with any of them
  39. 6-2 against the AL Central 10-6 in 1 run games, Tied for 2nd in MLB for home runs with 72, 10th in MLB in OPS+ What made me smile this morning was David Haugh on the Score saying, " Waves of prospect call ups for the White Sox". "I'm a believer, not a trace of doubt in my mind." It's fun to think of all the positives so far this season, and the future looks bright.
