  1. Reached out to an individual who has been around baseball for a long time and knows people and the scouting departments of a lot of teams. Just wanted to know if they could shed any light on this. This is what they replied to me: "I’ve never spoken directly to Mike Shirley. However, I can tell you that I got tired of hearing him say, “I’ve been in this game a long time” after every draft conference call. A couple scouts from other organizations tell me there was a lot of bickering between Shirley and his own scouts who felt unappreciated. Shirley certainly felt comfortable drafting guys from the Midwest, but I thought he did well. The Athletic story says he was badmouthing staffers at the Area Code Games. That is one of the worst places to keep anything a secret. Every amateur and pro scout/rep is there, as well as agents and parents. I don’t know any specifics in regards to harassment or discrimination, but I know of one female staffer who came from another organization but left after only one year. I’m curious to see who takes his place. Keep an eye on pro scouting. There might be some changes/trimmings there."
  2. A lot of people in this world have gotten way too comfortable.
  3. Garret Guest was the other finalist for the job when Shirley got promoted, so I could see it being him. Just not sure if he can handle that level of responsibility given the he commits to pushing Jeep Wranglers and hyping up Kelenic on Soxtalk.
  4. This team is allergic to hitting with runners on base. It is sad
  5. Ugghh can you imagine being immortal and a White Sox fan? I thought I was long suffering.
  6. According to the Railyards thread, that's also about to be an issue.
  7. Burke I need you more than ever. Total eclipse of the heart.
  8. Man, how do you go to a showcase with 200 high school kids and be completely unable to hold back your bigotry??? And in a job in which your unbiased evaluation is needed? What the f*** man

    Thank you Randal
  10. I dunno, this seems like the sort of thing that could happen at any organization, sports or otherwise. In fact, if you say enough stuff like this, they make you owner of the cubs. But who among us hasn’t had a boss be completely inappropriate in the workplace? At least they actually fired this guy. Too bad it happened, sorry for the people who had to put up with his nonsense. think the team can do better than Shirley anyway.
  11. The chaff has been removed. Next up gets time off.
  12. That’s what I think, Meidroth would do fine at SS but other changes are needed, Home Runs are great but you can’t have a one dimensional offense, you need to make contact and win with base hits.

That's a terrible quote in the OP. Not surprising though based on what he's shown so far this year from his attitude and approach at the plate.
  14. For those that wanna cling to the Crede/Grichuck homer thing, the 05 team did lose the next two after the Crede homer game. I’m not saying I believe in this team, but I do believe that baseball is a very weird game.

Man I am so here for Caleb Williams: Veteran QB. He looked great. The growth really stood out.
  16. Against Cleveland's pitching this offense at present doesn't stand a chance. Just an absolute disaster of a performance by the offense this last month. Hard to be excited at all about the future the way this is ending.
  17. Can't believe venable didn't treats grichuk with the start today. Oh. It's venable so i can
  18. It’s just wild that Getz went out at the deadline and acquired an expensive player who has made our team materially worse. That is legit hard to do.

"crazy, extreme power and stuff like that"...WTF? Any of these guys hitting 60+ HRs? Don't get me wrong...30 to 35 HRs are nice...but it isn't "crazy, extreme power"!
  20. Doesn't seem like it's because he didn't take your pet draft pick
  21. I like the Cardinals ballpark, has some features of the original Busch/Sportsmans Park in it.
  22. That was a situation we'd get 0 runs in these past 2 weeks. Good to see us actually get a runner in from 3rd with less than 2 outs.
  23. Back to Shirley, this is so fucking White Sox. The organizational rot still runs so deep. They really do need to flush the entire organization when Ishbia takes over.
  24. Soxtalk is out of hand like never before… yesterday: “I think Sandlin will start tomorrow…” No way. Not possible. He won’t… Sandlin announced as our starting pitcher. “This team reminds me of ‘05.” No. Not even close. Blah blah blah… Pregame show shows various ways that this team and the ‘05 team have similarities. Will those people own up? Nope. They’ll remain arrogant douchebags. So again, I say… shut the f*** up… let’s fucking go White Sox… and WIN THIS THING!!!
  25. Still cant believe they won last night.
  26. Harold wasn't Garrett Guest. Also, sounds like external candidates are lining up for this job. No.
  27. I have 4 young kids and rarely get alone time. Last December I left work and went to Hooters by myself, then took an edible and saw Kill Bill vol 1 and 2 back to back in theaters. That was true happiness.
  28. It’s so crazy that some people can’t keep their toxic personalities in check at work and focus on business. That being said, he sure fooled me with his media appearance.
  29. The cardinals should probably play it safe and sit Jordan Walker again. You never know, an ankle tweak can turn into an amputated foot just like that.
  30. Sox dysfunction 101 continues
  31. One home run may not necessarily fix the broken vibes, but if one were to it sure would be Randal's from yesterday. What a stud.
  32. "I will tell you one thing, I will never pay under slot! Punt a pick? NEVER!"
  33. it probably wasn't taking office supplies home or not being logged into your computer at start time. I will be tuned into to Jimmy & Ian's Future Sox podcast to see what they have to say.

This was the Joe Crede moment. 4 complete games in the ALCS again my god it’s happening.
  35. Seeing the way the guys reacted after the final out definitely makes me think this took a lot of pressure off them. Hopefully it carries over to tomorrow.
  36. Looking at the statcast for his release point, he's been tinkering with it ever since his 2nd start here. This was where he was at with the Mariners: Since he's gotten to the Sox, he's now dropped his arm angle to 15 degrees and widened his release point (-2.53 feet). The vertical release point hasn't changed much. He's been tinkering with the arm angle from start to start, starting with his start against the Reds. In his start against the Cubs, it got all the way down to 13.5 degrees, but it's been more or less fluctuating around 15 otherwise. I have to think that they're trying to alter his arm angle and release point to get a better shape to his slider. But it's straight up not working. Way too many of the ones he throws are not competitive. A side effect of the lower arm angle is lower velocity and we've been seeing that pop up in the past 3 starts. He was throwing as low as 90 in today's start. Keep in mind his fastball was averaging 95.3 MPH with the Mariners and the velocity looked pretty good in his first start against Boston. Feels like they were trying to fix Castillo, but now it's basically made him unplayable. His once good velocity is gone and you're not getting anything more out of his breaking or off speed pitches. He could at least somewhat get by on his fastball before, but now that's not there either. I don't know what made the Sox think they can turn around a struggling pitcher better than the Mariners could. After all, our poor pitching development is why we had to trade for a starter in the first place.
  37. Heard of Mike Shirley? We literally talk about him all the time…
  38. So the Sox had to beat the Cards and Castillo
  39. I would prefer a phantom iL stint....Urquidy ain't too good either but he's better than Castillo
  40. So he's been investigated since 2022? Yeah, that's not better. JFC. I'd rather just have him being salty. WTF is wrong with this organization?
  41. Imagine if he is replaced by another former Royal
  42. He's still angry that Getz big dicked him and took Hagen Smith over Griffin
