Not hard to watch this and see who the league wants to win

I am not drinking down the entire glass the Koolaid on Kopech just yet but I have sipped a lot of it. I think he is a potential Ace in the coming years. At worst, he could turn into a Jeff Samardzija but if he can still throw 100+ he could even transition to being a Closer. Right now he stands at or near the top of our rotation. So, Rodon, Kopech, Cease, Gio, Reynaldo next season and obviously a few other guys have a shot to make it. This is very good news for our Sox going into 2019.

What's impressive about a .236 average, .296 obp and a strikeout rate of 40% in low A? The home runs? He's 18? We have a kid by the name of Bryce Bush we got in the 33rd round who does not strikeout, hits for some power and pretty well average. Should we of taken him 4th overall?

At the same time the Sox pitching could keep the roll going into September and kill our draft status. If that happens it would be better to have Eloy get the experience and start learning to hit big league pitchers now, instead of being a year behind

Saw this stat on Kopech today. He is the first pitcher since 1908 to start his first two major league games allowing only one run with no walks.

A lot without Abreu too. This is the kind of game I envisioned the White Sox becoming . If Robert makes it This team could be the reincarnation of the Go Go Sox. Imagine if the Engel "tease " becomes more than a tease.. Pitching speed now just need better defense and some OBP guys and we'll be where we can win a lot of games.

I've tried to work this out. I guess you'd need 6 starter-relievers; plan on 3 innings each (that may be too many innings) and they can pitch every other day. And then a bullpen as, inevitably, some will need relief. That would leave a pen of 7 or so. You can do that relatively cheap in terms of talent and $. Trade your good starting pitching prospects and put most resources into hitting and defense. It might work...something I can see why a team like the Rays would try.

I'm a little worried about his peripherals. They aren't great. That said, his hard hit rate is at like 10%. He might be walking too many and not striking out an ideal amount of guys but whatever he's doing to get them off balance is mostly working. From the little I've observed it seems he's finally got good fastball command on a consistent basis.

Yea it def looks "grand", agree with that. We used to drive by the construction (and the old stadium) almost every day for work, saw it go up in real time. Agree with Citi, Citi is a cool stadium. I like the Jackie Robinson area when you walk in and the views of the city from the upper deck are pretty sweet.

Especially fans of the team. Honestly Moncada could be the difference between a championship or two or slightly above mediocre. We shouldn’t be writing him off rather finding every positive daily and hoping he can improve week by week. I’m not one to say “he plays on our team so support him!” because trust me, there are PLENTY of guys who suck ass on this team, but guys like Anderson, Moncada, Kopech, Lopez, Rodon, Giolito and maybe to some extent Garcia, Abreu & Narvaez should be cheered for every night, not trashed.

I imagine if the Red Sox don’t win the World Series this year we probably win the sale trade.

It's called players weekend. Players wear alternate jersey's and put nicknames on the back or names of friends/ relatives who have passed away or anything really .One player named Boxberger had emoji's of a box and a burger on his jersey. Also bats and cleats could be decorated and colorful. One player had plain white cleats decorated with the names of kids in a hospital he visited with around 80 kids adding their names to his shoes in their own writing . Sox catcher Kevan Smith honored former friend and teammate Daniel Webb who passed away last October by putting Webby on his jersey. Then he proceed to hit a HR in his very 1st swing wearing that jersey and it was his 1st HR of the year. I'd like to clarify how I erroneously came up with a 39% strike out rate. I used "at bats" rather than plate appearances. Since I was relating it to batting average, I thought that made sense. If I were relating it to on base %, I would have used plate appearances. At the time of my calculation, he had struck out 179 times in 459 at bats, which is 39%. If a hitter strikes out 4 times in every 10 at bats, that leaves 6 at bats, for him to accumulate hits, applied to his average. If he has a BABIP of .400, on those 6 at bats, he would get 2.4 hits. That would produce a batting average of .240 for the total 10 at bats (2.4 hits, in 10 at bats). It's not plausible to expect him to have a .400 BABIP, and even then. it would only produce a .240 Average. That was my point. I understand that the game has changed and that these very high strike out rates are becoming much more common, and for some, acceptable. It just seems to me that a hitter is going to have to hit a lot of home runs, to justify that kind of strike out rate. That said, I am hopeful that he will get that strike out issue under control. The encouraging thing is that he has taken an awful lot of called 3RD strikes, many on bad umpire calls. Once he learns to swing at those close pitches, when he is in a 2 strike count, that should reduce the strike outs.

Moncada and Fulmer are apples and oranges. Fulmer could have only dreamed of having the minor league success Moncada has had, and we have 3+ seasons of failure for Fulmer at the AA, AAA, and MLB levels. Moncada was a notch below Eloy at AAA. He can still figure it out. Their track records are completely different.

Thanks Captain Obvious. Players can also struggle at age 23 and be out of baseball within 3 years. This organization hasn't made the playoffs in a decade so there hasn't been much to like. I liked watching Sale and Q pitch every 5 days back in the day. Right now, I like looking at Eloy and Kopech highlights. I like the giant gold chain that they are passing around when a dude homers.

Yep. Comparing Moncada at 23 to Altuve at 23 means very little. For one, Altuve was signed for 15K while Moncada signed for close to 30 million. Altuve was also never anywhere near the #1 overall prospect in baseball. If anything, this comparison is a huge indictment of throwing tens of millions of dollars at a single young player from Latin America/Cuba. Signing kids from there is an absolute crapshoot and teams were much wiser to spread their money over 50-75 guys rather than blowing their wad one one guy. They sure did have us target democrats, which took the pressure off of me. I just made it personal with why I would suggest Casten is a better choice, that his tax plan would return the current corporate tax rate but gives businesses who invest in their employees or give them higher wages tax relief. So there are targeted tax benefits as opposed to a blanket corporate tax reduction policy. I also mentioned how he would work restore the standard deduction that the taxpayers had stripped from the new tax plan. I also mentioned how he would push legislation to reward businesses for innovation that leads to jobs and allows people to get new jobs with automation impacting old jobs. I only had two republicans push me away immediately, which I thought was fair because they were leaning or strong republicans. It’s really interesting how much information is available about a person, their age and their voting records. The campaign was pushing vote by mail, but I didn’t get that far with people. An effective thing to do would be to have small packets of flyers and vote by mail letters in a small envelope for voters to have in their door or when materials are handed out. I hope the campaign considers phone banks from home since more people would likely do that.

I hope they option him first if that’s the case.
