  1. Have you watched him play? I have. Slightly old for the level, but dominate.Tatum gives you a good at bat every time up. That’s why his obp is pushing .500. Why crap on the guy?

  2. This ump is fucking Lance so hard. Can't wait to see the ump scorecard after the game. Someone's gonna get ejected soon if this keeps up.

  4. Tanner McDougal was on fire tonight ? ?? 4 IP, 3 H, 8 Ks, 2 ER. The only damage came on a changeup left over the heart of the plate. Outside of that he was nasty, sitting 95-97 with the fastball and a pretty wicked breaking ball. McDougal ???

  5. What was that 10 pitches for Lynn? Much needed and good recovery.

  6. It's probably the green screen advertisement on the backstop. There was a Mets game last week where balls were disappearing when they crossed the plate. Advertising gone too far.

  8. I was just thinking. The Sox should fire Rick Hahn

  9. For a day at least, the Sox played like a really good team. Hit the s%*# out of the ball and easily papered over some defensive and pitching issues.

  10. The White Sox start Lance Lynn on the hill tonight. 3-5, 10 Starts, 57 1/3 innings, 6.28 ERA, 1.592 WHIP and 67 K. In May, Lance is much improved with a 3-1 record over 4 GS and 24 2/3 IP, with a 5.11 ERA and 1.297 WHIP and 25 K. Lifetime, Lance has 11 starts against Detroit with a 7-3 record, 3.39 ERA and 70 Ks over 63 2/3 IP, though has not fared as well in Detroit with a 4.91 ERA, 1.636 WHIP and 1-2 record over 4 starts and 22 Innings. Lance's counterpart is LHP Joey Wentz sporting a 1-4 record and 7.45 ERA over 7 starts and 31 2/3 IP. Bad omen for the Sox is that this is his first career appearance against Chicago, hopefully offset by the fact he is a Southpaw. Len and DJ with the Chicago call tonight, so sit back, relax and strap it down!

  11. The benefit (and downside) of age is that with time comes acceptance. Sometimes just having a game to turn into is enough to care, and if it becomes more than not, cool, if not, it was enough to just live it. These guys have played like bums most of my damn life, but for now they are playing pretty decent baseball, regardless of what happened three weeks ago or 15 year ago or hell, next week.

  14. While I was listening to the first 2 innings in the car, it sounded like this ump caused Lance to throw a s%*# load more pitches than necessary by missing obvious strikes.

  15. He's 25, in his first season at an actual appropriate position. If he doesn't improve over the next 2-3 years, I'm with you. Players reach peak performance at 27-28. And while RBIs are lineup dependent, the Sox can use hitters who hunker down and knock runners in, especially with two outs like Vaughn delivered. Is there anyone you like on the team? Anyone you think is actually good at baseball besides possibly Robert? Sox don't have depth, but they do have a dozen players that are solid baseball players, with Robert being the best overall, and a good staff and bullpen that is rounding into form. They need to prove it in June against stronger teams, but these were the teams the Sox were losing against the past two seasons, so it's nice to see them not sink to the level of their competition. White Sox still up 4-1 heading into the fourth.

  16. Yup, now that you mention it that's EXACTLY what it is. You can really see it when any part of a player crosses sections with that ad on 1st base side of backstop. Especially when it's a quick movement. Good catch and welcome to SoxTalk @nrockway!

  17. Lynn seems disgusted with the defense. OTOH. If he didn't spend 20 minutes on every hitter, I think the defense would be a little more alive.

  18. Talk about fake news, how is not having enough money the equivalent of caring only about money? It’s the opposite, he poured everything he could to keep the team viable in Chicago. Then Veeck tried to get an Italian owner here who would keep the team in Chicago and build championships like he did with the 49ers. Who did the Anti-Italian and Anti-Catholic bigots in the MLB owner and press boxes across America support? Oh yeah, the current owner who worked to flee Chicago a couple years later. Turn to today, and these same bigots in ownership and media are promoting anti Catholic bigot groups that perform lap dances and dry hump crucifixes the game after the Sox leave Los Angeles, and have for decades pimped anti Native American racist s%*# in Atlanta and Cleveland. Bill Veeck gave this ungrateful fraud his last job in television. Reinsdorf promptly fired his ass and he spent his final days talking on radio to a 1 or 2 AM radio share, aired between ads for Heavenly Bodies and other Chicago area strip clubs and blue penis pill ads on The Score.

  20. A. I'd be fine with Bradfield at 15. B. No C. Yes D. I think he's a fine fit as a player but his timeline is wrong. I think they have to draft as young as possible and do a total reset to rebuild the organization from the bottom up.

  21. Shortstop: -1.3 WAR (Worst in MLB) Second base: -1.4 WAR (Worst in MLB) Right Field: -1.2 WAR (Second worst in MLB) Pinch Hitter (offensive depth): -0.5 WAR (Worst in MLB) Catcher: -,7 WAR (Fourth worst in MLB) Relief Pitchers: -2.5 WAR (Second worst in MLB) HOW IS HE STILL EMPLOYED?

  24. TA was the toast of the town 48 months ago. Dude's performance just sucks now and you will not get away with Anderson's comments and general persona when you're sucking. The fans turned on Beckham as well. He got a lot louder boos than Anderson has to this point.

  26. But also the Sox should be active in the Japanese market for the first time in 2 decades.

  27. It’s obviously too late at this point, but it’s almost like the white sox don’t even know you’re allowed to trade players. I cannot fathom the thought behind developing 8 interesting first basemen at the same time, and trading none of them while allowing yourself to field replacement level players at several positions.

  28. That's a great post. To field a contender Sox scouts had to pick the best 1B and 3B and make some trades. They won't pull the trigger on trades and it has hurt the franchise for sure.

  30. I don’t think either Crochet or Bummer is counted on in high leverage. With the game on the line and lefties coming up, I have way more faith in Middleton and Kelly than either of those guys.

  32. I would venture to say that Rick Hahn would have been fired already by 99% of private sector companies, due to his high failure rate and incompetence.

  33. Thirteen.Strikeouts. 4 Hits, 3 singles. End the game on a double play from a 91 mph fastball DOWN THE MIDDLE. Flat out embarrassing.

  34. Just a bad game. In reality, the Tigers aren't much better than the White Sox.

  35. Over time it's crystal clear who is the better catcher and works better with Giolitio. A starter won't have his best stuff every start. Go post another 10,000 word post crying about it.

  36. 41 pitches for Crochet...hah, man oh man, this coaching staff, and this team. P.S. - Walk #11

  37. It takes a special kind of incompetence to draft top 5 in back to back years and manage to dig up two below replacement level players.

  38. Holy s%*# that loop in Vaughn's load mechanism. That wasn't there two years ago.

  42. 1. The big difference between the Astros and the White Sox? The FO that lead the Astros to those results are long gone. Yet the Sox FO has stayed the same 2. You’ll be back. They ALWAYS come back…
