  1. Yeah and the Sox never acquired any veterans for the purpose of flipping at the deadline with any success. Could have brought in more assets if they targeted more marketable veterans. Edicts - an official order or proclamation issued by a person of authority. ex. - COVID curfews, capacity limits, etc. You realize the rate of which people are being vaccinated right? Why will the bills be come due soon if the most vulnerable are vaccinated and most others are in the process of being vaccinated? Do we just live in fear forever even if there's a vaccinated public and herd immunity? I didn't say anything about Florida's leadership. I spoke about the data. You don't like the implications of what the data shows. I never said anything about indoor venues. You find it hilarious that I insinuated about indoor venues - reread my post from the lens of someone without your imagination. I responded to the data provided by a mod who brought up the subject. Everything I said was supported by the data that mod provided. You're sure a mod will delete your post because you're bit is the name calling and trying to take down others and you do this all the time. Give it a rest.

  3. The correlation you're implying (opening up leads to more COVID) isn't backed by any data. Cases don't matter as much as hospitalizations and deaths do. They're still declining. Michigan has some of the most strict COVID edicts in the country. Minnesota is strict too. They are leading the country with increases. Florida and Texas are allowing the people to make their own decisions for their well being (novel concept), cases, hospitalizations and deaths are all trending down. And their economies are in the best shape of any in the union. I am not expecting the data running contrary to your opinion to change said opinion, but those are the facts from the link you provided.

  7. Give Zack credit for winning the DH on ability rather than by default.

  8. He’s 2 for last 22 with ten strikeouts. Of course it’s small sample size, but they haven’t been competitive at bats. No one is saying he’s awful, but he does need to make some improvements from last year for this team to excel this season.

  10. Vaughn fields a ground ball double down the LF line. He's still alive I think.

  11. He was a league average bat against RHP in 2019 in his second stint with us after making his swing changes. I think he can be much better than that as a platoon hitter if given the opportunity.

  12. People were just saying how Collins should be dumped for a reliever a few days ago. Look at his physique. The strides this kid has made physically is encouraging. If he makes more contact this season like I expect him to he's going to be at least a league average bat from the left side.

  15. Why would we want a position versatile left handed righty killer who would only cost on average 7m a year for the three years of our first championship window when instead we can have no depth at all for free?

  16. Carlos Gonzalez, who I'm pretty sure isn't playing anymore.

  17. True, but I've seen worse. It's not like we lost the franchise's best-ever player for the season and replaced him with Carl Everett at DH or anything.

  18. I know it's likely going to be a Williams/Hamilton/Engel/Leury rotation, but I'm hoping for something that's more fun like Vaughn excels in LF and Collins mashes at DH, or one of Sheets, Adolfo, Rutherford finally breaks through, or the wildest scenario: Cespedesmania. Then Eloy comes back late in the season and goes hogwild. I want storybook drama, damnit.

  19. Imagine advocating for the Florida way for leadership. Large gatherings doesn't equal more cases. Got it. Thanks for your data. Outdoor events are likely fine, but insinuating that opening indoor venues for mass gathering wouldn't be problematic is hilarious. Now I'm sure mods will delete this post and leave your covid truther nonsense posts you've made multiple times now.

  20. Thank god this website doesn’t run this team . Put together Don t know what people do for a living but certainly it’s not business . The Sox won’t trade main chips especially pitching for left fielders. Honestly check yourselfs. So dumb

  21. Sorry Jack but you’re wrong. The Sox would’ve been a wildcard team last year

  22. The goal of spring training for a position player with a lineup spot locked in is to leave spring healthy; literally nothing else matters. "Locking in" for spring training at bats is completely worthless.

  23. This. Robert doesn’t need to get into shape physically beyond getting timing down like every hitter. He needs to get mentally prepared for each at bat, and the grind of a full season (2019 (122) the only season above 56 games played). I’ve seen a lot of wasted at bats this Spring, swinging at a lot of garbage pitches, poor at bats. He needs to be hungrier and more focused, take advantage of the limited ST at bats to start the season right.

  25. Robert I don't know . I feel like for a while he's going to have stretches where it doesn't look like he can play baseball and stretches where he is the best baseball player on the planet. Not concerned.

  26. I like how they have him playing about ten feet in front of the track

  27. Needs to get closer to the plate and keep his shoulder in more. He’s reacting to pitches on the outside corner like they’re a foot off the plate.

  28. I get that I was wrong about Eloy but he seemed uniquely terrible at putting himself in dangerous positions and am still against this whole thought process that people who have played baseball every day for like 70% of their lives will die playing left field.

  29. That about sums it up. I tried to sign up today and there are no spots in Lawrence. Weird how they have the shot in Topeka in full supply but not Lawrence. I want to get the shots here. I will get the shots. I will say this. Out of all the people I know, except for crazy family types, nobody has had any hesitancy at all. I'm the only one. And I haven't really expressed concern to anybody I talk to in real life.

  31. All of those options are worse than if the Sox just gut it out with Leury and Engel. That's probably why Jim Bowden hasn't GM'd for 10+ years.

  33. Listened to a Sox podcast with Collins. He talked about how he has changed over the years and how learning to be a polished catcher is a long process. He also discussed how he is more aggressive early in the count than he used to be but how he has the eye to still not swing at a ball. it was an interesting listen for sure. I think he’s ready.

  35. Hopefully Vaughn is good enough to stick in LF against righties so you can play Collins at DH. Against lefties, Vaughn can DH and Engel can play the OF when he is back.

  39. Edicts? Well, you might want to schedule a vacation to Brazil since they have things so well under control with a similar approach to what you are advocating. Same with Miami. Texas and Florida are essentially free riders in the current system, but the bills will come due soon enough.
