This is shocking to me. I know Sosa was terrible, but what suggests Ramos, at this stage will be any better? I just read an article where scouts were saying the difference between MLB and AAA has never been bigger. This guy finally started getting it together in AA. If Sosa is that bad, DFA him, trade him for Cash Considerations or outright him, and put Remillard back on the 40. Why mess with Ramos. Let him progress.3 points

I agree. Play them the rest of the way and you can make a decision at the end of the year if you want.2 points

What a dumb f*** move by a bunch of idiots. Let’s start the clock on a guy who clearly isn’t ready and is 1-2 years away. Yay2 points

The only reason to recall Montgomery is if his OPS is 900+. Right now, he’s not even an average AAA hitter…and he still needs to improve defensively. The last thing they want to do is have his struggles on that side of the game affect his trying to hold his own offensively…everyone around baseball thought Holliday was going to set the world on fire and he couldn’t even stick, as advanced as his game looked on paper.2 points

I don't worry much about rushing guys. I think the ruining guys narrative is often overblown. Almost everyone struggles at some point in the bigs. He'll either adjust his way out or not. That said, he's also just not nearly ready or developed enough to succeed right now see will see how he adapts.2 points

This might be the dumbest decision of the season so far. Yes, the bar isn’t very high…but wasn’t the entire point of this season to protect all the prospects at AA and below from being overexposed? It’s not like Ramos is going to sell more than a handful of tickets being up. Montgomery Quero Ramos and Zavala are supposed to be cornerstones for the next .500 Sox team. If they’re going to burn a prospect, let it be a much lesser one in Baldwin who has been hot for weeks and weeks to start the season.2 points

I was ok punting this season as the beginning of the rebuild. Signing a locker room full of "has beens and never will bes" was fine to let the kids develop in the minors. We are a whole 6 weeks into the season and it's time to bring up the kids?!? Thank God we hired Getz....... it would have taken a whole year for an outsider to learn how f'ed up this organization is and realized he'd have to scrap the whole thing and reboot. Why can't we have nice things???2 points

I am so glad Getz is such a wizard of a GM that he signed all these veterans in the offseason to give our prospects a whole month of seasoning in the minors. What a genius!!! So once again, why didn’t Getz just let Jose Rodriguez play in the majors instead of giving him away for cash to the Phillies (a team with a front office with a fucking clue) if he is willing to throw Ramos to the MLB wolves when he currently has MILB stats (.572 OPS) that are just as bad as Popeye’s? Somehow, some way, @WestEddy will find an excuse for this pathetic roster management by Chris “I’m in over my fucking head” Getz. Getz literally burned millions in a fire pit this offseason on awful veterans. Now he is doubling-down and calling up prospects that aren’t ready for the majors. Can anyone deny Getz’s idiocy at this point? Here’s a live feed of intelligent Sox fans watching Getz’s (a.k.a. Joker’s) madness…2 points

Sox won’t release Moncada during the season. He is one of the few actual big leaguers on this roster. He is also not tradable. In the unlikely scenario where Ramos grabs ahold of 3B in the next two months, they’d probably move Yoan around the diamond for the rest of the season. It’s just tough to do that because he’s far and away the best defensive 3B in the org.1 point

The Sox should have let Sosa play 120 games this season in the mlb. He's taken time to figure out every level and maybe he just completely blows but why not let him show it over a very extended period1 point

I don’t know. I bet Grifol shits his pants at least once a year. Seems to be happening every night.1 point

This is so bad for my favorite team: The Birmingham Barons. The Sox are a lost cause. Sign Rance Mulliniks and be done with it.1 point

This boredom will hit folks 35 and under. They will not set foot in G Rate Field again.1 point

Yeah, and it’s mainly because it’s quite simply Getz’s last option. He signed a bunch of garbage that he somehow thought would last longer because they could play defense while hoping they would match their career offensive seasons from 3-5 years ago. Getz is a 🤡.1 point

Hard to argue with it. And I didn't know he ducked all interviews after it: https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports-media/2024/05/02/white-sox-tv-voice-john-schriffen-home-run-hater-steve-stone-andrew-benintendi-nbc-sports-chicago1 point

That’s exactly it, he can say he doesn’t believe in escalating salaries with their current approach. It’s all about owning a team like he thinks everyone should.1 point

Just in. White Sox bring back Gordon beckham. Getz stated, " He really knows the team well, he brings a lot of maturity to the clubhouse, and he still has something left in the tank. Oh, and he only cost us $2,000 for the rest of the year. He will be the first player announcer "1 point

It's really bizarre how JR's front office has literally wasted millions and millions of dollars on stiffs, has-been's, injury prone guys and retreads, yet he hasn't said a word. Yet spend a gigantic amount on a game changing superstar? Nope, we can't have that... it offends his financial sensibilities it seems.1 point

It's not just that they are a terrible team, but they are also so dreadfully boring.1 point

After starting off very cold, he has really turned it on lately, but he'd still be overwhelmed in MLB.1 point

Meanwhile...teams like MIL have these dudes like Brice Perkins or Tyler Black just magically show up and produce to keep their teams competitive. Or the Cubs with Canario, Tauchman, Busch and Crow-Armstrong. White Sox (still) have pretty much zero (young) quality depth capable of producing on offense. Unless you're a huge believer in Brooks Baldwin...1 point

1. Then you're an idiot, because going on sports radio for an 8 minute segment, then getting a check for one million dollars seems like fairly sweet deal. 2. I also don't agree with your second point, at least the part about the "media clique" I think it's an absolutely fair question to ask the "voice of the White Sox" what he meant, or who he was referring to when he referred to "the haters." Now, you are correct that he doesn't owe ESPN 1000 or 670 The Score anything. He doesn't. But as we all know, words and actions have consequences. It's the entire free speech argument. If Schriffren decided on tonight's broadcast, he was going to verbally dress down Jerry, saying "I think he's a terrible owner, the fans deserve better, he has been a stain on this city for decades and it's time for him to sell the team..." he wouldn't be thrown in prison, but you bet your ass he'd be looking for a new job tomorrow. Words have consequences, and when your job literally requires a microphone and your words are broadcast to millions of people, there are responsibilities that come with that.1 point

While none of this is a "big deal" and will be forgotten quickly, I don't disagree with the premise of the article at all. The team is currently 6-25 and we know the history of this franchise and the laundry list of gripes we all have about Jerry. Calling anyone "haters" of this franchise is a stretch, for obvious reasons. But fine, whatever...it doesn't become a story if when both radio stations reached out to have Schriffen on the air to talk about the call, he goes on. But instead he decided to run away. That's a horseshit move. You want to puff your chest and respond to the "haters" but when asked to clarify...no thank you? He could have used it as an opportunity to defend the White Sox, or at the very least tell people who he was directing that at, there are a bunch of ways he could have made a potential interview a win for him and create a more personal connection with fans given he has only called about 30 games with the team...but instead he decided to run and hide.1 point

I'd consider trading Jimenez. Horrible defender, horrible runner, and at-best slightly above average DH.1 point

I think those are the key words. How many of this bunch, injured players apart, are truly 'talented players'?1 point

Sounds like part of the problem is it's just too competitive and players have to throw hard all year round.1 point
