I'm not so concerned with the age of the next manager. If they hire a guy who will use analytics, be able to relate to the players while holding them accountable, and manage a lineup and bullpen effectively, I don't care how old they are. Some of the more intriguing names are Beltran, Espada, Quatraro, Bochy, Alomar. Just, let's stop talking about Ozzie and AJ. Neither would be a good fit.

I have disliked Tony La Russa going way back to the 90's, but i can't help but feel sad about this . not for La Russa, but for Sox fans . this isn't what we were supposed to be doing in October 2022 . Jerry Reinsdorf, with a team that he was led to believe were world beaters, must have envisioned La Russa leading this team to the promised land, and instead, they were just pathetic . wallowed in mediocrity and failure, while Hahn & Williams played musical chairs . many people think that this team will be fine next year, but i'm thinking that they are in danger of being an average team for years.

His decision to pinch hit Homer for Darryl Strawberry is always what came to mind when Tony would overplay lefty-righty matchups.

This is so embarrassing. Never forget when Nightengale went on white sox talk and dismissed TLR potentially not being able to start 2021 Spring Training on time due to legal issues around his DWI arrest and compared it to David Ross not being able to start spring training the previous year due to the flu. It was exactly the same thing.

The last time he threw this many innings was 2016. Having to count on him for more than 120 was always going to be iffy.

I know they want to give TLR a graceful way to end his tenure with the Sox, and that's fine I guess. But I don't know how people like Nightengale can say with a serious face that the Sox would have been just as bad with another manager. I mean, just the use of Leury alone cost them several wins. Cairo all but kept Leury on the bench. The handling of the bullpen was embarrassingly bad at times, especially considering TLR was supposed to be a genius with bullpens. Not knowing rules, falling asleep in the dugout (on TV), throwing players under the bus, telling young superstars to take it easy and not hustle. Need I go on? Good riddance two years too late.

There would be no Chicago White Sox if it weren't for Bill Veeck saving the team in 1975. His choice as replacement was Ed DeBartolo. Cowardly American League owners didn't provide the 75% approval (8 to 6 in favor, needed 11) because cheap ass bastards like Bud Selig didn't want a smart successful owner to join their ranks. So Sox fans instead got nearly a half century of "One Shining Moment" and crates full of carrots to show for it.

He mentioned another health problem "discovered" in February, which is when he got his 2nd DUI. Pretty clear that this other health problem is alcoholism, and he now looks compared to six weeks ago like someone who's quit drinking for six weeks.

For every name you can come up with that you're familiar with, there should be a name interviewed that we don't know. I have no idea who the pitching coach is for the Nationals, the bench coach for the Padres, the 3b coach for the Mariners, or the AAA coach for the Dodgers are. I could Google them, but I won't remember their names in an hour so why bother? But that doesn't mean there aren't really good people working their way up through those positions, people who would be an excellent fit for this job if given the chance.

I don't really care if we are in the top ten signings here, I just want bigger classes. This holding back 1/3rd of your budget to sign during the season is too conservative. We need more out of Paddy who has brought in some nice talent. Because he was successful...he needs to scale it up and deliver more. We have too shallow a base in draft picks and inept scouting to source enough talent to be top tier. Need Paddy to deliver more than the rest.

This thread wasn’t created until July 23. There was a general disappointment with the offseason, well deserved. But people also gave him more than half the season just in case: note that this also appears at the trade deadline, where it was rational to worry that he’d foul things up more if he did anything.

I'll go a step further. We need a guy who'll look at a player (eye test), look at the analytics (numbers test), and work with coaches to figure out what's going on with the guy's swing, mechanics, approach, scouting reports, etc., then work to fix the guy.

FWIW Josh Phegley lives down the street from me and his house just went up for sale. Former Sox player, catcher, no managerial experience. Checks a lot of boxes. Maybe something to monitor lol

Fire the hacks in the training staff already. Everyone involved in either missing a torn meniscus or letting him pitch with a torn meniscus should be shown the door. Between Kopech & Robert we have some gross negligence and or medical malpractice on our hands. As ridiculous as it is enraging.
