I love how everyone is conveniently ignoring @Harold's Leg Lift saying that it won't be Ozzie. Twice.8 points

I literally know nothing about Grifol, but taking a guy from a losing organization who happen to have a manager opening themselves would make me very unexcited.8 points

You’d let your kids talk s%*# about your employer? You’d let your kid share secrets about your coworkers in public? You’d rip your employer for not giving your kid a sweet job? Because Ozzie did all those things. Putting “family first” does not mean enabling your kids to be complete assholes or pouting when your kids don’t get benefit of nepotism. Let’s keep Ozzie and his circus of douchebag sons away from our franchise.7 points

I will. 2010-2011 Ozzie didn’t care one iota about his clubhouse or his players. It was all about Ozzie. The game had to be played his way, with players he liked, and if he didn’t like you then he didn’t care about you. Where his son got drafted and his contract extension were way more important than having guys ready to go, he didn’t even want some of them.7 points

We all just sat through a full rebuild that started 6 years ago with promises of championship contending clubs, and to date we have received 2 playoff game victories and nothing else. If you want to turn this into a "real fans" debate, then I would argue that the "real" fans are the ones who actually care about the team's success and want them to stop making the same mistake over and over, rather than the ones who would blindly love another former Sox manager comeback story that is, once again, very clearly not going to work out6 points

If Ozzie Guillen had any contrition for his past behaviour, if he truly wanted to rehab his image and work his way back into a manager’s role he would swallow his stupid pride and take a coaching gig somewhere. Yet he has been doing TV work, actively seeking someone else’s job. No org wants anything to do with him as manager because he is so radioactive, except possibly our White Sox. His ego is too big to allow him to catch on somewhere to work his way back. He thinks he is entitled to manage the White Sox without having earned any of it. The man quit on us and still believes the job should be his. How anyone can think he will magically be anything but the walking dumpster fire he was from 2009 onward is delusional.5 points

Gotta be outraged about something at all times, didn’t you get the memo?4 points

Ozzie has evolved with his temperament for sure and has learned a lot about the relationship between a Manager and the media from co-hosting pre/post game shows with Garfein. There he agreed with and sometimes disagreed with criticisms directed at LaRussa, realizing that some fans thrive on Monday morning quarterbacking while others are never going to be happy. No one is ever going to accuse Ozzie of not trying to motivate his players or losing control of the clubhouse, like Ventura did. He does not have the limitations that aging brings on, like Tony encountered. Oz has mended old fences, especially with KW, who he genuinely respects. Ozzie respects RH and absolutely reveres Jerry Reinsdorf for what he has done for him and his family. That is the fact no matter whether you like Ozzie or not. As far as idle threats to not attend games if Oz is Manager, why? If that is how shallow one's connection is with the WSox is, fine. Adios. Fair weather fans are often discovered to not be genuine Sox fans at all, and that raises the question - how much should their opinions count on any decisions the WSox make? Like you have veto power because you attended one game last season?4 points

It will be fun to go back in this thread after we win the next 5 World Series’s with Ozzie as manager and see all the hatred some of y’all had fro him3 points
-
Yep same. I would not be excited about this at all. He had been interviewed by KC once before and they went with Matheny instead and he’s literally right there to fill the manager vacancy and they haven’t done it. Hard pass.3 points
-
Please. That's so childish. Reinsdorf, LaRussa, or any front office hire or manager would not keep me from enjoying my favorite summer pastime.3 points
-
This was also for a team that had missed the playoffs 3 straight years and had 1 playoff win in 6 years, without ever saying that they were rebuilding. Those results did not deserve a contract extension. He should have had to play out his lame duck year for his job.3 points

Management by committee doesn't seem to work all that well. Perhaps Hahn should be allowed to make this decision...or have the balls to quit.2 points

Oh no, being concerned about connecting to half the player population, oh mercy me.2 points

Yeah. And he doesn't seem to check the boxes as I recall Rick spelling out when he spoke to the media. This is the one guy I would be less excited about than Ozzie Guillen.2 points

Maybe there's a bidding war between the Royals and White Sox for Grifol LOL! If that's the case don't worry, the Sox will lose. Seriously though, your point is spot on.2 points

I also don’t know how they can answer, if questioned, why he would be the man for the job now, but 2 years ago, they went out of their way saying it could be any but Ozzie before JR ended the search before it began. What changed?2 points
-
Not only while he was under contract, he still had another year left on his deal.2 points
-
And if you want evidence he hasn’t changed at all, look no further than him using his NBC sports tv spot to angle for LaRussa’s job. However bad Tony was, that was also inappropriate.2 points
-
He was negotiating with another team to be their manager while still under contract and during the season. Him not quitting until after game 160 doesn’t change the fact that he was actively negotiating with another team long before that. His only loyalty is to himself. “Nitpicking” doesn’t change any of his disloyal selfish behaviour, which shows no signs of changing or evolving in the past decade.2 points

TLR actually had success in his other stops after being with the Sox, while Ozzie crashed & burned so bad he was basically radioactive. Granted TLR had the benefit of a few hall of famers and rampant ped use in the clubhouse. Ozzie quite possibly would be as bad if not worse in game, in the locker room, and with the press. Hiring a toxic former right after your previous toxic former failed catastrophically and went out in a dumpster of flaming wreckage seems worse to me. Few moves could be as dumb as following TLR with Ozzie.2 points

The White Sox haven’t announced a manager yet so people are manifesting managerial hires and getting angry at their imaginations1 point

Revisit what? Grandal's 2021, or 3 times in 4 years with an OPS of over .800 before that? Moncada's 2019? Even his 2021 was a 4 war season1 point

If it's between Ozzie and Long, pick Ozzie. Why do we want a hitting coach? If Sox are gonna go with Long, why not Oz or Washington or Joe Girardi. Girardi is only 58. Why not him?? I'm not thrilled about Long.1 point
-
How about Long for Manager (to cure the offensive woes) and Washington as Bench Coach (to cure the defensive/fundamental woes)?1 point

Agree. It will hilarious watching games with Ozzie back in the dugout. HOFHurt, you’ll watch, we all will. Hey, I don’t want him either, but we’ll all watch the 1st month for shits and grins as they say.1 point

So they are saying that an elite athlete in his 20’s acted arrogantly? Mark this one down for the history books, folks. Hopefully something like this never happens again.1 point
-
Hasn't Ozzie been pretty non controversial in his analysis on TV and all the radio shows he goes on regarding the Sox? Hasn't he been pretty fair to the team as well? He hasn't gone on any wild tangents about the team's ineptitude or politics has he? A decent sign there.1 point

Yes, this went on for 2 seasons. There were also a lot of disputes between Ozzie and the front office over player personnel. The streaming/flex DH with Kotsay+ (Ozzie’s choice) over signing Thome (KW/RH’s choice) comes to mind. Thome went on to rake for a 2 more seasons (1.5 with the Twins). And Mark Kotsay… well, he was Mark Kotsay, put up a OPS in the .600’s, and the Sox ended up having near the lowest or THE lowest DH production in MLB.1 point

If the White Sox really do hire Ozzie again they really are as bad as Balta believes. That's about the worst thing I can think of. At least I will save money on baseball again for the near future.1 point

You know what I hate? Seeing all of Eloy’s offensive potential go to waste sitting on the IL. Sorry Eloy, but DH is your future if you want a long and healthy playing career.1 point

You know what I hate? Terrible defense in LF, arguably one of the easiest positions to play.1 point
