  1. I can't believe we're letting this loser speak to the media. And also Mike Clevinger.

  3. Your 2023 Chicago White Sox.....we tried to fix it but couldn't.

  4. Overall reactions to today: 1. There is absolutely an ongoing investigation. It is completely ludicrous that this isn’t completed yet. I’ve got no explanation for this other than Manfred was slow walking it and hoping it could be covered up. 2. Mike Clevinger should be on administrative leave today. There is absolutely an open investigation and a baseball team should not be hung with having to answer these questions or having his victim on the radio being interviewed. This isn’t just bad for the parties involved it’s horrible business for the whole league. How is “sports radio is interview a woman who shared photos of her bruises” anything you ever want your league dealing with??? Put him on leave and avoid this spectacle, you can count this as part of his suspension if and when it happens. 3. The White Sox didn’t do a bad job of answering questions today. If there’s an answer you hated, it’s a question that should never have had to be asked because of items 1, 2, and 4. In many cases there are no right answers. 4. Rick Hahn did an awful job of checking the background of a player with a checkered past. There is potentially a missed police record and likely a record of other s%*# that was missed. This would look bad on a GM having a great run, this is I think the 6th time this GM should have been fired. This isn’t excusable. 5. There is a very high chance that he will be suspended during the season. There is enough here that Manfred will say there’s a high chance something bad happened and he will hand down some discipline, the investigation will just determine how much. This will of course happen right after the White Sox have already lost a different pitcher to injury. Someone will say that no one could possibly have seen this coming.

  5. It's still absolutely the wrong response by Hahn. One player is bigger than any sort of moral compass you would hope the organization has. To your point @ChiSox59, you're saying if Rick knew these allegations, he wouldn't have been signed. So Rick is saying "Yeah, we wouldn't have signed him if we knew this was hanging over his head, but I understand why he lied to us, and now we have to support him." Wrong answer. The correct answer is some version of "This is not what I want to be talking about on the first day of Spring Training. It's something I wish we knew about and obviously we have to re-evaluate our background process further. As it stands today, we're put in a position where we have to let the process play out and respect any decision MLB puts forward." Not "I understand why someone like Mike would lie to us"

  6. Sometimes judging a book by the cover works. Clevinger would have qualified before they signed him. Fire Hahn.

  7. Based on the fact that the Padres knew about this, we can conclude that MLB knew about this at least in September of last year, possibly several months earlier than that. MLB needs to get off its lazy manfredian ass and do something. Either put him on leave and get a suspension done or if they have reason to support him they need to do so publicly. The domestic violence policy asks for this to be taken care of in a couple weeks, not a year. This isn’t fair to the victim, who seemingly had to share pictures of her bruises to make MLB get off their butts and listen to her. This isn’t fair to the White Sox players who have this guy around. This isn’t fair to the White Sox team who have a player whose status is unknown. This isn’t fair to white Sox fans who have to decide if they’re cheering their laundry or booing domestic abuse in Arizona. This isn’t even fair to Clevinger. Do your damn job Manfred. Either suspend him or say why you’re not, coward.

  9. Let's be real, I don't think teams are doing FOIAs before signing players. It would take too long to get a response back and they could miss out on the given player.

  10. I've spoken to a number of people over the years who know JR and the one constant I get is that he wants to win. But... He wants to win HIS WAY...under his rules, his restrictions financially, and putting loyalty above all else. Like many in the organization he feels he is smarter than everyone else...history shows that is not the case.

  12. I will give RH some credit, from the quotes it seems he doesn't want this guy around either.

  13. Scott Merkin: “So Rick, do you think that should have been targeting on TCU at the end of the Michigan game?” Bruce Levine: “With Liam out, any thoughts on Kopech as closer?” Julie Dicaro: “Why are there no females in your starting lineup?”

  14. Also creates a terrible precedent where anyone can make a claim that leads to a suspension without a legit investigation.

  15. I know they said they weren’t planning to, but it would be great to hear from Hahn today that Hendriks is doing well with his treatment.

  18. According to Clevinger’s agent, he didn’t even know about the investigation until she shared her bruise photos. And even if his legal team was doing something, MLB should not have waited until February to be doing interviews with the victim. Clevinger doesn’t control her interview schedule. That should have been done months ago, all of them. People’s memories get worse over time, you don’t delay stuff like this unless you’re looking for reasons to cover it up.

  19. This is bugging me also...I am half serious about thinking that Manfred gets these and if they're kept quiet he just delays and hopes they go away.

  20. News to me people still think Jerry gives two fucks about winning. Hint: he doesn't.

  21. I think he was basically saying - if he told us we wouldn't have signed him, so yeah - I get why he didn't tell us - cause he was selfish. He said that without directly saying that.

  23. Shouldn’t have said he understands why he didn’t tell them. Perfect time for no comment

  26. The optimist in me is thinking that they want to leave him out to dry. The realist in me acknowledges that that is almost certainly not the case.

  27. So the woman who accusing Mike Clevinger posted something just an hour or two ago. Timeline makes sense now. If what she says is true this guy is a fucking nut that doesn't need to be anywhere near this team.

  29. This. haha. at a certain point if it's not fun, then why am i doing it? But that's every offseason. And then a 72 degree night comes along and the grill is going and i have a beer in hand and the snap of catchers glove and a crack of a bat hits and I am back to being happy. It'd be fun to watch a winning team with WS aspirations. Hell I'd even settle for a team with a path and plan, but i'll just enjoy the game itself. Just play the game the right way and I'll be happy. That didn't happen last year which i think was the frustrating part. Hopefully with new manager we play hard, run out bases, and don't constantly give excsuses.

  30. First post. If Sox don’t figure things out tomorrow, then my family is front-running and will spend next few summers at Wrigley. Clevinger is a bigger issue then they’re even imagining. Let’s see what happens.

  33. very striking overlap of posters who never want Clevinger to pitch in MLB again and also want Eric Bienemy to be force fed a head coaching job.

  37. Ya, i was going to say that was from last off-season. And technically he's not wrong ... but as mr. hahn lawyer speak should know ... don't say stupid s%*# if you can't back it up. The money will be spent and was spent ... he just failed to say that buying out arb years for our own players was going to count as money spent ... It's some bahama FTX accounting to say money that was going to be paid no matter what to Eloy and Robert, Moncada, etc. should count in his theoretical world. You telling me a team would decline Robert option at $5mm? It's just silly. Not to mention, for every Anderson that worked out there's a Moncada where we'll pay like $24mm for zero return. It's a wash in the end. But again, the sox can't be honest, they spin doctor s%*# and try to blame fans or gaslight them how we interpreted that wrong. I went from a Hahn fan to I think Hahn is a scumbag.. shoot me straight or just shut up and be thankful you got in Jerry's circle of trust.

  38. This regime had Sale, Q, and Eaton to trade for the rebuild. Think how bad the rebuild would go without guys like that to trade. No Gio, no Cease, no Kopech, no Mocada, no Eloy, no Lopez. They can’t draft well. They don’t develop players well. Another rebuild would be a long disaster with the same dopes calling the shots.

  39. No, I am just realistic as to what they are. They are not going to re-sign Giolito and they are not WS contenders.

  40. Sox obviously don't care about any player embracing the southside after not keeping Jose. When they reach a certain age the popular thing is to let the player walk even if he's a fan favorite and a complete stud. I was thinking the other day with Jose gone I don't really have a personal love for any of our players for the first time in a long time. There's usually one or two I will defend til death so to speak. Right now I'd be OK with trading any of them.
