  1. Man can they just DFA Leury?
  2. Listen this teams chance at success this year is all on the shoulders of the guys who were expected to perform last year and didn't. And there are a lot of them. That doesn't include Colas. But if those guys who were expected to perform well do so this year then the addition of Colas could be big. I'm just saying the kid should not have any pressure put on him.
  3. This is the young left handed savage I've been waiting for. Montgomery next. I need MOAR
  4. Tired: Keep Colas down for extra control Wired: Get an extra first round pick when Colas wins ROY and is on the opening day roster
  5. There are a couple of guys primed for breakouts on the Sox and Kopech should be near the top of that list. Vaughn is the other one. I'd include Colas but can't talk breakout unless you are reaching a point where you were projected to be a star but haven't quite got there yet. Robert and Eloy kind of qualify just because they can't stay on the field. We've seen glimpses of that top level talent but not for a full season ever from both of them. Anything resembling near peak performance from several of the breakout guys could mean big things for the Sox.
  6. March 12, 1921 - All eight members of the White Sox who reportedly conspired to throw the 1919 World Series, but were found innocent in a court of law, were banned by then commissioner Kenesaw “Mountain” Landis from ever playing in the Major Leagues again. The eight were “Shoeless” Joe Jackson, Eddie Cicotte, Claude “Lefty” Williams, Charles “Swede” Risberg, Fred McMullin, Arnold “Chick” Gandil, Oscar “Happy” Felsch and George “Buck” Weaver. Jackson was banned for life, despite hitting .375 in the series; Weaver was banned not for throwing the series, but simply for knowing of the plot and not reporting it. The only club capable of facing off against the emerging New York Yankee dynasty was thus destroyed. March 12, 1973 - Sox third baseman and former 1971 A.L. home run champ, Bill Melton, appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated. The caption read, “Chicago Comes Out Swinging. Slugger Bill Melton.” Melton would have a nice comeback season after missing most of 1972 with a herniated disc. He’d hit .277 with 20 home runs and 87 RBI’s. He’d be traded to the Angels after the 1975 campaign.
  7. TL;DR White Sox are carrying America.
  8. Good to see TA not pull the ball on the ground with a guy on base.
  9. They had a backfield game today. Saw Sosa, Ramos, Perez, Rodriguez, and a few others playing. Pretty cool experience to witness. I’ll definitely be making this a yearly experience with the kiddo
  10. Colas with the casual 2:1 HR to K ratio in ST.
  11. That movement lateral movement is just filthy. Couple it with the speed...good luck. If Kopech can stay healthy the league is in trouble.
  12. Melton was one of my all-time favorite players and a decent guy, too. Would have had a better career if it wasn't for his injury.

  14. keep up the good work. really enjoy your posts

Sox will never do this, but I'd have Moncada lead off vs RHP. He takes pitches and gets on base. Anderson should be batting 6th-7th vs RHP.
  16. Oscar Colassal !!!?
  17. Injury after injury and poor production given his high salary.
  18. Until the ball is hit to third.

    Since this camp has been incredibly boring, I figured it’s time to get some discussion going on more regular season oriented topics. The first one is how would you lay out the everyday batting order. For this exercise, let’s assume Colas makes the team. Also, note that any splits I’ve referenced reflect that player’s four year averages against RHP/LHP pitching from 2019 to 2022 unless noted otherwise. Here is what I’d do against RHP (OBP | ISO | wRC+): Anderson, SS (.335 | .138 | 112) Benintendi, LF* (.344 | .146 | 107) Robert, CF (.360 | .179 | 134) (‘21) Jimenez, DH (.329 | .240 | 129) Moncada, 3B# (.341 | .178 | 113) Vaughn, 1B (.309 | .184 | 112) (‘22) Grandal, C# (.347 | .178 | 105) Colas, RF* (.357 | .162 | NA) (‘22 W-S) Andrus, 2B (.303 | .116 | 84) Here is what I’d do against LHP (OBP | ISO | wRC+): Anderson, SS (.380 | .211 | 154) Robert, CF (.403 | .242 | 172) Jimenez, DH (.327 | .228 | 124) Vaughn, 1B (.383 | .286 | 154) (‘21) Grandal, C# (.420 | .231 | 148) Gonzalez, RF (.395 | .246 | NA) Moncada, 3B# (.344 | .164 | 112) Andrus, 2B (.297 | .126 | 81) Benintendi, LF* (.349 | .128 | 105)
  20. It's offseason fluff, but sometime's it's nice to be fluffed.
  21. TA puts Team USA on the board, called by Jason. Feels good.
  22. No way Leury didn’t read that ball, he had to have thought there were 2 outs because he just kept going and then looked surprised when he got doubled off. Hopefully Grifol saw and he can put that down in the column of Leury isn’t very good at baseball
  23. I don't think so . Mental mistakes like Leury just made are one thing but getting thrown out on the bases isn't bad. Grifol just maybe testing the players abilities. They've stolen a lot of bases. Haven't been throw out stealing much. Colas got caught stealing when he took off too early against a LHP but they've been working with him on his secondary leads so all part of the learning curve.
  24. I'm not 100% convinced we start with a traditional 4th OF on the bench at all, let alone a LH one.
  25. Is there a world where Haseley breaks camp as the 4th OF’er? Would speak more about our horrible depth, but he might have more potential to be decent than anyone we have
  26. Hope he can put it all together this year.
  27. There was a video on Sox Twitter of Katz telling Kopech the shapes of his pitches look much better compared to last year.

I don’t care what hand the pitcher throws with, no way in hell am I putting Romy in the lineup over Colas under any circumstance. Im not sure there’s valid reasoning for Romy to even make the team, let alone earn a platoon spot. I’d rather see Eloy play RF (and I really don’t want to see that) and Burger DH than Romy get AB’s. If you’re going to start the clock on Colas then just let the kid play. If he fails into a platoon then so be it, but cross that bridge if we get there.
  29. I like what I'm seeing this spring. It's ST and it means nothing, but I'm getting a bit more optimistic than I was a week or so ago.

Yeah, I do think against RHP, he’s slots in better around 5th or 6th. He’s still a solid hitter against RHP, but the subpar OBP doesn’t work quite that well at the top of the lineup.

yep. averages 50 extra base hits a year and almost always puts it in play. i remember tommy herr knocking in 110 one year with just 8 HR's
  32. Limited roster spots would but a damper on that. If money wasn’t a factor, more teams would at least attempt to compete, and fanbases with little hope would have a bit more. When money wasn’t a factor teams like KC and Pitt and Cincinatti were always good. Now they usually have little shot: the best thing, and I know it will never happen, isn’t spending less, but evening the playing field more. Pay the players, but divide the money up, and only give money to teams that spend it.
  33. You're right and unfortunately for Sox fans, until the uncaring and demented POS owner and his pathetic loser executives RH and KW are gone, the Sox will never learn from the successful organizations in how to build a WS contender.
  34. Well, maybe they will pick someone up towards the end of Spring Training that is cut loose from another team.
  35. Moncada crushed a 100mph ground rule double from the right side. Luis just missed a HR foul, but then reached by hustling out a 102mph grounder that the SS overthrew for an error. After a slow start, they've both been looking much better at the plate. Annnnd Yo crushes a homer. Annnd Luis with a 112mph base hit to left.
  36. I’m “where I should be” because they gave me the most money…
  37. ....but you have to keep Leury
  38. Yes and you can hold me to it.....Montgomery at SS and Ramos at the hot corner to start 2024.
  39. As I sit here in the RF grass I definitely notice Diekman is still terrible
  40. Not having all weekend games on TV sends a great message from marketing. Don't bother watching.
  41. Part 2 is also really good. Good Fisk stuff about halfway through.
