  15. Still....we probably aren't too far beyond #29 even if they are off on the ranking. It's a joke either way in terms of prospect development.

  17. An updated farm system ranking from July 14 from Bleacher Report. I realize there are many baseball sites that put out rankings and of course it's very subjective. However this at least puts into some perspective the state of the White Sox future talent or lack of. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10082392-updated-mlb-farm-system-rankings-after-2023-mlb-draft The Sox at #29 Updated 2023 Farm System Rankings 30. 36. This is one of the biggest failings of this organisation, many of the prospects drafted or traded for in the last few years have simply failed to live up to their billing. In very few of those cases were the original drafts or trades massively criticised but the Sox have ruined them in one way or another. Just look at the 'development' of Crochet and Kopech, neither of whom look like ever reaching anywhere near the higher end of their potential.

  37. Montgomery and Schultz are great prospects but they are not why the Sox are 29th or 26th by Baseball America. You have to include all levels. Schultz is great but only at low A Kannapolis. Montgomery is also great but only at high A Winston Salem. Where the Sox are bad compared to the strong farm systems, is how weak the Sox are with the AA Barons and AAA Knights.

  38. And what we are saying is we care about baseball America putting the Sox 26th because they get live looks on players and get good information, and don’t care about bleacher report even if it ranked Sox #1 because it is written for people who google “updated farm system rankings”

  39. Hard to watch a guy who’s never on the field……

  40. I think it depends if you are actually trying to understand whats going on with the farm or just enjoying some disaster porn. The sox farm will struggle with depth due to how they operate and their market restrictions, but there is also some high level players that are more interesting than are typically found in a sox farm.

  43. I’ll give Sheets some credit for doing a decent job lately in right field but Colas should be in right field every game for the rest of the year, he had 2 hits Saturday night with some nice plays in the field but Sunday he’s on the bench with Eloy taking his place who then gets hurt and replaced by Sheets, I don’t get it except that Grifol is probably an idiot.

  44. The team has done next to nothing since the division title of '08. Then they staked their reputation on a rebuild that has failed. A drop in attendance is far from surprising and actually I don't think it's been that bad. In addition, attendance has been an issue for a long time, and JR has only worsened things. There has been times when it looked like the franchise was turning a corner and on its way to developing a deeper fan base. Then they went back to losing or alienate fans in other ways. This FO gets real arrogant when they have success. They don't seem to understand, that in sports, you can win big one day and get your ass kicked the next. There is simply no tradition with the Sox.

  45. Eloy ranks 29th this year among DHs in fWAR, Jake Burger 16th. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=dh&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=0&type=8&season=2023&month=0&season1=2023&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&startdate=&enddate=

  46. Adults are accountable for themselves. Period. Management is responsible to identify and address. Teammates may occasionally say something, but it’s not their responsibility. The hotheads self proclaimed leaders on this club, Keuchel and Lynn, have been the players with the least accountability during their time here. The Sox need a FO that brings in many good players, not a “clubhouse leader” to save them.

  48. Uh-oh, it’s time for me to go on my (brief compared to other ones) anti-war rant. In 2019 Alex Colome, I admit often scaring us to death, had 30 saves in 33 save opportunities. If I remember an earlier anti-war rant correctly, clearly better than anyone else in MLB that year with more than a dozen or so saves. His WAR from that year is 0.9. How stupid is that? Can anyone argue that he was worth less than one win to the Sox that year. That same year, Abreu hit 33 homers with 123 RBIs. His WAR that year was 2.5; the exact same as Yolmer Sanchez’s 2.5 WAR in 2018 when he hit .242 with 8 homers. WAR can be and too often is a pretty stupid, can’t-see-the-forest-for-the trees statistic. So to my point, Andrew Benintendi, in the last week alone, has been more valuable to the Sox than just one win so far this year.
