Such brazen examples of theft should not be tolerated....but enough about Moncada's salary.19 points

I'm so sick of hearing about his loyalty. There are so many players he sent packing instead of having them finish their careers here. He's screwed over the fans that have made him rich. He forced a strike when the team had it's best chance in decades to compete. Locked out players and held the strongest line. Mark, Frank, Jose, Carlton . . . He's loyal to cheap deals, and lap dog executives that won't question him. It's not the kind of loyalty anyone should admire.15 points

I think there's this misconception from the anti tanking crowd that they think the rest of us actively enjoy tanking. No. It's just the less shitty of two shitty options.13 points
-
Because it's better than the alternative. There's a higher chance of winning baseball going through another tank job than trusting this FO to piecemeal a team together. The tank job has maybe a 5% chance of success with this FO but the piecemeal approach is much less than 1%. Last I looked 5% is greater than .01%. Quite frankly I'd rather go through another tank job than waste seasons hoping that the majority of the roster hits their 80th+ percentile projections simultaneously.8 points

I mean, we're having articles on everything else? So can we have something positive? https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/minnie-minoso-academy-bridgeport-school-renamed/6 points

A sobering thought for me is just how awful this team has been. I put up with the garbage "rebuilding" years, just to have a team that never truly competed, and now they're rebuilding yet again. What's the point of sitting through the garbage "rebuilding" years again with the same management, why should anyone assume they can actually field a competitive team. Sure it's fun to watch some young guys develop, but it gets tiring rooting for development just for the team to fail. I feel the same way with the Bulls. We had the "baby bulls" that could never get there, then the rebuild into the Derrick Rose bulls, that couldn't get there, into this new team that can't get there. At some point it's just not fun watching rebuild after rebuild with no trust that the team will actually compete. This year has really sucked a lot of joy out of the whitesox for me.6 points

Its only sobering if you were buying what the FO was selling. Which, if you’ve followed this team for any period of time, you really should know better.5 points

We're so lucky here at Soxtalk to have an insider that provides absolutely no inside information, but always jumps at the chance to let people know that they are an insider. A true asset to this forum.4 points

This is what is referred to as "cronyism". Jerry likes his cronies. Guys who will be willing to stroke his ego and not rock the boat. Meanwhile, the franchise continues to be consistently disappointing on the field and the same front office flops repeatedly and fails to develop even a semblance of the sheer talent they drunkenly stumbled into. They spent years collective farm pieces to build up a core and what do we have to show for it? 1 legitimate playoff appearance and in turn, a swift exit from said playoffs. Then back in the tank almost immediately. I'm getting absolutely tired of Chicago sports and their insistence of holding onto failing executives and coaches because their incompetent owners continue to value their yes-man antics, all while ignoring their infinitesimal ability to put together a competent sports team.4 points

Same number of his cars stolen as bases he’s stolen this year4 points

Let's take the Sox front office at face value when they say they are going to be competitive next year. (That doesn't even mean by the way that they'll even have a winning record...) OK...to be "competitive" this is what they appear to need: Catcher 2nd base Right Field at least 2 starting pitchers 3 bullpen arms A closer Maybe a new shortstop Now how anybody thinks they can do this with a reduced payroll and a mediocre/poor farm system is beyond my limited intelligence. But that's what they are going to try to continue to sell the fan base...that and "hoping" things work out. Odds are really, really, really small of that happening.3 points

And with a budget likely receding to the $160 million mark...and nobody would be all that shocked if it was $140-160 million or even down into the $130's.3 points

I legitimately HATE this team and this organization. Like, I can't even just ignore their existence and be indifferent to their sheer ineptitude. They just continue to find ways to make themselves too visible on the social media-sphere to ignore. It's an embarrassment to be associated with this collection of pathetic, worthless losers and this season, they've consistently gone out of their way to amplify their circus-like antics both on and off the field in a way that is impossible for the sports world to ignore. Get. Fucked.3 points

Then Jerry better be willing to put the money where his mouth is. Honestly, as a fan anything short of another rebuild is more likely to bring apathy from me. There is no other way out, from a realistic standpoint.3 points

Yeah I'm gonna have to disagree with this a bit. There are defintely folks around here in the present and past who enjoy a good tank job. The idea of winning the propsect ranking wars gets them off more than the play of the mlb team does. Exactly. Tankies love dreaming about the future and all the shiny prospects. We have already been there and done that. Yoan Moncada isn't anywhere close to the next Robinson Cano. Michael Kopech ain't the next Kerry Wood. Eloy Jimenez isn't hitting 40 plus bombs every year. All the pieces from the Adam Eaton trade are no longer with the organization. Blake Rutherford is out there selling cars or insurance somewhere. The top draft picks acquired through the tank did not turn into close to a Kris Bryant or Alec Bregman. The tank jobby failed miserably and it blows my mind that the tankies want to double down and try it again.3 points

Never should have traded away Burger. Sox fans are stuck with this epic bust for another year unfortunately. Wish we could go back and redo the Chris Sale trade. Traded the best Sox pitcher of my lifetime for a dude who pounds a box of twinkies a day and spends more time making crappy music videos than he does on his game.3 points

It will be worse if they try to compete in 2024. Will be same results as 2013-2016. Robert and Cease are the two legitimate pieces, have a couple other good players and that is it. Need a new FO, assess what they have during 2024, make adjustments, acquire prospects, attempt to legitimately compete for the first time since 2005 in 2026. If they keep Hahn and or Clevinger, I'll take another sabbatical away from White Sox baseball.3 points

At least we're getting to see it with Schlotens, Colas, Remillard, Ramsey, and others (who aren't performing hot). And while not rookies, Touki and Honeywell are getting auditions for their spots. But Lee (give me defense! and power!) and Sosa ... there's no reason to keep Andrus or Yaz.3 points

he's loyal to the people close to him, and he purposely keeps those close to him as just rich friends and their sons.3 points

It’s turn back the clock year. They will find some old and hurt guys like Jimmy Rollins, Brett Lawrie, Austin Jackson, and dinner Navarro p, and call themselves a contender.3 points

Pedro saying this was the worst loss of the season is so pathetic. You’re 25 games under you piece of crap.3 points

We're having very different outlooks on tank job. I'm saying punt 2024 and let their current prospects — the ones they already had, drafted, and traded for — work towards 2025 and 2026. Robert's age and contract line up with that. Same with Vaughn and Colas. I was fine selling Cease because he's regressed, I don't see them paying him, and it was a seller's market.2 points

Won't miss Anderson. They're losing with him anyway. His one home run this year has been a real contribution. Only hope he is playing somewhere else next year. Or even this year.2 points

Used to live by that BP at Irving Park and Broadway, first gas station to stop at if you're getting off LSD toward Wrigley. I bet that's where it happened. Sketchiest place imaginable, every other night there would be a carjacking or a robbery or a hit and run. One of my neighbors was paralyzed in a hit and run there a few years ago, if I heard sirens you bet it was because someone robbed the minimart. Lakeview is honestly a shithole even beyond the Cubs and Ohio State yuppies. Don't even get me started on the everyday sexual harassment (I'm a man). I now live on the south side and there's some irony that I feel 1000 times safer than I ever did living on the north side or how I feel in the Loop after about 7:00pm.2 points

The most sobering thought is this regime doesn't know how to build a contender with most of the pieces. When they are missing a lot of them, there is zero chance. JR's loyalty will be put to the test soon. He remains loyal to all these clowns, his bank account is going to take a huge hit.2 points

Since 2005-2006, the last fun White Sox period for me was 2019-2020, and the Children of the Corn game with Tim & Acting Manager Miguel Cairo. This mostly depressing season will be worth it if there is finally a new FO, and/or if God makes a change in ownership. If not, then I am joining the penguin.2 points

Guys like Jon Jay, Yonder Alonso and Wellington Castillo are exactly the cheap veteran players you alluded to in a previous post that they would also bring in if they were trying to contend. Well, we know why Jay and Alonso were brought in, but the cheap veteran list is just as ugly the younger guys they were throwing out there in the tank years.2 points

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I would easily take the hope and excitement of a 2019 season where they didn't play meaningful baseball in September standings-wise over some absolutely mediocre team that finishes right around .500 and is hoping Mark Kotsay and Omar Vizquel can propel them to being fringe contenders.2 points

2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 were all horrendous. The bolded in particular were particularly unwatchable laughingstocks. At least 2017, 2018 and 2019 had young guys to follow. Then 2020 and 2021 were fun as s%*# until Ricky and LaRussa got embarrassed in the playoffs. And 2005 wasn't rebuilding on the fly. They started in 2004 with the Freddy and Contreras trades, building off of a strong 2000 farm system.2 points

Gomes is a guy I would like them to target at catcher but he has a $6 million team option that should be picked up by the Cubs. I was thinking Austin Hedges as a backup to Korey Lee. Basically no bat but great defensively. It makes no sense that Sosa isn't here playing every day. These games are meaningless. Lose with rookies gaining experience over losing with old veterans on their way out.2 points

This isn't really news to most people that honestly assesed the trade deadline commentary. They aren't competing next year. They don't have the upper level depth or impact in the minors. It's going to be another season of hoping they bolster the farm and develop some players as the big league club flounders.2 points

The likelihood that Brooks Boyer of all people has nefarious tendrils rooted deep within the org and or has the power to pull JR’s strings really seems far fetched to me. Hawk, love ya, but I really don’t care about whatever beef you have with Brooks Boyer. This is another big nothing to me.2 points

The team also has a massive hole at third base. Moncada simply can't hit. Last night he came up to bat 3 times with men on base and did nothing, I wasn't surprised. The only reason why he's on the team is because of his big contract. If he didn't have the big money contract he would be gone. The Cubs released Jason Heywood this past off season. They ate his big contract. The White Sox should have done the same thing with Moncada. We're stuck with Moncada for another year. Hahn traded Tatis Jr, Madrigal and Burger. If they hadn't been traded this team would look alot better. Its bad enough they were traded but they received nothing in return for them. I remember during the 2017 season Hahn traded David Robertson to the Yankees for absolutely nothing. Some people said that he saved the team money by trading him. The problem with that arguement is look at the millions of dollars Hahn has spent and wasted on players who never produced. Its almost as if Hahn is destroying the team intentionally.2 points

Bummer is perfectly named. I never feel good when he enters a game.2 points

It will be great. We've hit bottom, now it's time to rebuild. New faces, new stories. It's a return to 2017 when we had a highly rated farm system. This front office did it once, they can do it again.2 points

I always liked Bummer but this year he has been both the gas can and the match. When he comes in the game I grimace. And if Santos can’t close out games two days in a row he isn’t a closer. Tonight’s loss is just another punch in the face2 points

I'm sure some of the players were preoccupied after a Sox' players girlfriend's car was stolen near Wrigley a few hours before the game today.2 points

White Sox fans want to see accountability for this debacle now. No reason to wait for the end of the season. Hire some interim people to start moving in a new direction. Hahn, Grifol and Katz have no right to have jobs with the White Sox.2 points

It’s quite fitting that Timmy, Yoan, Grandal and Vaughn all went hitless. Those four are realistically the main underachievers in this lineup.2 points
