  1. The timing was because season ticket renewals went out this week. Reinsdorf figured he'd lose money if he didn't make a move. This was strickly a business decision.

  2. I will never stop being amazed at all the excuses made for Rick Hahn.

  3. I could keep going, but the point is that the Sox aren't bad because of Moncada's neon socks or Colas' blonde hair. They're bad because the organization is a dysfunctional mess from Jerry on down. It was being held together with shoelaces, gum and band-aids in 2019-2020, but Ricky was building a good clubhouse culture. Then the players learned that Ricky getting them to playoffs meant he was rewarded with getting fired for JR's old buddy and the floodgates opened.

  4. Appearance should not be confused with performance or accountability

  5. I will never not enjoy people that get themselves all riled up over what professional athletes wear or how they do their hair. ?

  6. Lol. Not the standards a professional sports team needs... Has nothing to do with on-field performance.

  7. Katz needs to be fired, and not trading Cease was a colossal mistake by the idiots.

  9. And how can the Braves be winning with all this drip?

  10. Clubhouse culture is not personal appearance preference. Treating adults like children and on top of that ostracizing them due to what you call difference in culture is something you think will bring them together? Interesting.

  12. This is my 71st year following the Sox and I’ve never hated a team as much as this bunch, I’m so embarrassed right now as I just went out and ripped off my White Sox car decal. This is worse than the 1970 team, these stiffs we have this year have quit and have absolutely no pride.

  13. for some reason I paid to attend tonight's game. sitting in left field in hopes that Luis Robert will hit a ball to me

  14. And other teams do win while wearing chains and accessories. Or do the Braves and Dodgers just not exist in your little world? And several NBA teams have won with headbands. In fact, basically all of them.

  15. Also amazingly my experience at grf is miserably attended games aren’t even easier to get food and drink because they only staff to like 10% and you walk forever and are still in a big like. I waited less during the playoffs.

  16. This is both true and false. Fans will return if the Sox win, that is correct. And if they win under Getz/Moore, that will still absolutely be the case. But current fan interest will absolutely be impacted based on the decision the Sox make moving forward. If they were to hire Mike Chernoff, or James Click, or an assistant GM out of Tampa, there is going to be much more of a buy in from fans. Ultimately, wins and loses will dictate everything, but fan interest will absolutely be impacted by this decision.

  17. This is the lineup they should be playing for the rest of the year.

  18. They currently are treating them like children and letting them do whatever they want. They should treat them like adults with expectations that they are expected to follow. There is only one thing that brings together people in sports and that's winning.

  20. I don't care who gets the job as long as they make eloy run his ass off everyday. Hopefully they actually have standards to, get the chains off their neck and make them cut their hair and actually be a professional. The players here have earned absolutely nothing and shouldn't get any special treatment.

  21. The Moore Getz announcement will plummet fan interest for years to come
    3 points
  22. On the WST podcast with Chuck, AJ was on there questioning why Getz would be "the guy" when he hasn't done jack with player development in the system. Said he likes him & all of that, but he was definitely skeptical.

  25. “He did good with all of the returns on his trades!” and then what did he do? Did he continue to collect and amass prospects and draft well and made shrewd trades in the down years of a rebuild? Nope

  26. I have previously debunked this canard a billion times. The industry knew he was a break out. Law wrote an article before the trade saying that industry sources who had seen Tatis in instructs said that he'd have been 1-1 had he been eligible for the draft. This is not a Junior Caminero situation. Tatis was highly prized and the Sox dealt him for maximum salary relief for a guy who already sucked.

  27. I feel like the Shields trade had KW’s fingerprints on it. Like the LaRussa signing, it doesn’t go with the rest of the moves Hahn made. Shields seems like the kind of guy Kenny had one of his crushes on who was destined to one day join the team. Not sticking up for Hahn…it was his time to get canned, but I don’t think he was ever fully in control. Oh, and the Sox still haven’t signed a prime free agent in forever.

  28. By removing Kenny and Rick for the organization, at the bare minimum, you allow yourself the opportunity to sit down with smart minds from around the league and get a free assessment of your organization and what needs to be done to your operations to create a winner. All it costs you is time and preparation. But by all accounts, even that is too much work for the White Sox. Grandpa LaRussa is now calling the shots, and Chris Getz seems like the perfect fit, because he's of course...already part of the family. f***.This.Organization.

  29. You lost me at "Hopefully they actually have standards to, get (sic) their chains off their neck and make them cut their hair and actually be professional." None of that has anything to do with winning baseball games. The White Sox have a lot of problems that they need to address to become a successful and respected organization. The chains the players wear and the style of their hair are not on that list.

  31. Culminating in the Yerminator Unwritten Rules fiasco against the Minnesota Twins early that season... That said, some Guardians probably DO truly believe Emmanuel Clase's strange hair color choices have led to his absolute inconsistency with the Guardians in 2023.

  34. Also, Reinsdorf banned headbands for Bulls players until 2016. Lot of fucking good that did them. Oh joy, our players are getting sweat in their eyes but at least they look professional!

  35. The f'd up thing is other then Grandal this is the currently chosen core from day 1 of this season. Sure maybe Andrus was going to be become something he wasn't but in essence this is the lineup that you could have imagined for this season. And they suck, all of them, except Robert. I think this is what is killing me this season.

  37. Have you even seen what his stats are with the Yankees vs what he was here. Have you looked at any of our players stats since they left this clown show organization vs moving to a real team. Players are held accountable by other teams and not ours.

  38. Just proves my point. Has done nothing for their on-field performance. The Yankees blow.

  39. re: links from the artist formerly known as Twitter; it's probably because various discussion boards don't recognize that new URL yet as something that should embed. I suspect that if you use "twitter.com" in the URL in place of "x.com" it will embed fine.

  46. The obvious answer I always give is I don’t care, I have no special insight into the question, but want a solid process. Bring in a search firm to contact numerous candidates around the league to gauge interest. Perhaps collect some application information about them. Assemble a group of experienced consultants from diverse backgrounds throughout baseball. I literally don’t care if LaRussa is one of them, but several of them should be independent of the White Sox organization. Conduct a series of interviews. Gauge their interest, their goals, their philosophy, their experience, their background, their reaction to the current state of the White Sox. Make sure your group of candidates is actually diverse, not pale white. These are GM candidates not Sox. Narrow your candidates down and conduct legitimate, professional background checks. Perhaps conduct a series of interviews with final candidates. Your final decision is then made after full consideration and open discussion amongst your panel members. The owner should be involved in these discussions at some point but they should also be given time to voice opinions when he is not present so as to avoid undue influence on the process. Offer the best candidate a detailed 5 or 6 year deal with a competitive salary and well defined expectations, along with clear goals and evaluation targets that are tough but also fair. I don’t know that Ryan Poles is the best GM in football, but the Chicago Bears followed this process 2 years ago and they’re not a model of management effectiveness. If they can do it, anyone can. Its not only how a professional billion dollar business would conduct these matters, it also sets a professional tone throughout your organization and makes your business operations look good.
