He probably thought the same thing last winter too and look how that turned out.3 points

While it'd be fun to rag on him for this...do we expect him to say differently? Unless they lose 122+, this doesn't feel like a quote that I (or anyone, hopefully) will be pulling out to dunk on him with like his "we'll play aesthetically pleasing baseball" or "the elephant in the room is we play in the AL Central" quotes.2 points

Who says Rojas is being moved? He's mentioned in your article as "a possibility". And you do realize that Connor Meidroth is a different person from Chase Meidroth, right? You link to the former's TBC page.2 points

It's probably to create some competition. I wouldn't think anything of it. I honestly really, really hope the Sox don't jump the gun on Montgomery's service time clock. Keep the kid down until he is actually ready.2 points

Braves sign Profar. Caulfield in shambles. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/01/braves-to-sign-jurickson-profar.html Probably have soured a bit on Kelenic. BOOM2 points

Vanilla works if he/she is partnered with a complete opposite, ideally with credibility. Having a Hawk-like persona as a color commentator alongside a McKnight would be fine by me.2 points

Tim Anderson was a very big plus SS at his peak. He was a multiple time all-star who added plus defense, and plus base running, peaking out with multiple 4 WAR/fWAR seasons. Don't get me wrong, his legs absolutely gave out on him, but at his peak he was an all-star level SS, in in a league with a lot of really good SSs.2 points

I am once again reminding people that Hanser Alberto's inability to field a ball led to Tim suffering a leg injury that the Sox rushed him back from, because they only had a winning record with him in the lineup. Of course, he relied heavily on his legs. Throw in the team drama (which he was a part of) and it was a recipe for disaster.2 points

I can see McKnight permanently replacing Schriffen in a year or two. No idea why, just a hunch. Maybe Schriffen's mouth/tweets gets him into hot water.2 points

I'll leave the truly childish anti-White Sox swipes for you to giggle at, alone.1 point

What in the world are you talking about? Are you referencing your whining about now being able to bet money on White Sox parlays without being 100% sure you will win? How is that an attack?1 point

Jerry is going to hold a special celebration for White Sox scout, Jerry Krause. Accepting the award will be his widow Thelma Krause. Above her head will be a "Boo" audience cue card and Jerry will be providing tomatoes to any fans who want to lob them at her.1 point

Not going to give him that much credit for everything wrong he did last year that then needed a bigger fix...or patting himself one back for Venable coming on board. For example, Jake McCarthy was the #11 RFer in the game with a 3+ fWAR. Both Getz and Barfield missed on that one. Then not trading for Keachsall...for, well, reasons. That's a swing of 6-8 victories right there...now having Vargas/Fletcher instead. And finally not getting one of the Red Sox top 3 prospects...usually stars for volume prospects doesn't work more than 20-25% of the time. One positive is not just dumping Robert on the market...at least yet.1 point

Considering Ichiro’s best season was his fourth and his second best OPS season came in his ninth, I would say we must have seen more than 2-3 years of his prime. Speaking of ninth season, he reached his 2000th career hit in that year. Pretty sure that had never been done before, 2000 hits in nine seasons. All while winning nine consecutive gold gloves. Come on now he’s obvious hall of famer I was living in Phoenix area back in 2001 and was completely hyped to see Ichiro. So I bought tickets to first M’s game at Scottsdale Stadium. Not to be disappointed, Ichiro unleashed the most incredible throw I have seen in my life. I swear to god he was standing directly in front of the OF wall in the RF corner foul territory and threw a line drive perfect strike to third base no bounce. The runner was already there but god damn that was easily most impressive throw I’ve ever seen. The second baseman in the outfield grass could have cut that throw off. That’s when I knew the hype was real1 point

It's important we don't bring light to these types of comments... shhh1 point

I wonder how much scouts are influenced by the hoopla. The dodgers have all these prospects and then what happens to them? I thought Diego Cartaya was “can’t miss”. I suspect Ferris will be a good pitcher no matter what but I think the Dodgers org is better at marketing than it is at player development.1 point

I really hope Schrif was kept on only because he was under contract. McKnight might be on the bland vanilla side, but he doesn't assault the senses at every opportunity. The product on the field is bad enough, at least give us a game call that's enjoyable.1 point

I was always concerned about Tim. I am not one who goes for theatrics. Competing at the major league level is serious business. A player needs to be serious about it.1 point

Probably, but he was also the cause of the more recent personal issues.1 point

I still think some of his decline was due to his off field problems. The mental and emotional issues had to have taken a toll. I hope he makes the Angels MLB team, but, man, what could have been...1 point

Didn't know the angels needed a catcher. Seriously though, What a fall from grace1 point

Still would have preferred that Keashcall trade. Has played up the middle in CF, SS, and 2B and has some time until he is needed on the 40-man so no immediate crunch to get him playing time. Vargas just really doesn't fit anywhere (also, why I thought they should move him to 1B while non-tendering Vaughn).1 point
-
Seems like a question for management who did everything to bury him instead of playing him to see what he had.1 point
-
Well, ask the White Sox. They had him playing 2b last year. This offseason they have since traded for a guy who also plays 2b and 3b who already spent a full year at AAA, and then signed a veteran who also plays, get this, 2b and 3b. That's on top of Vargas, who they tried to make into a 3b but who seems somewhat positionless. It sure seems like the people saying he doesn't deserve to start are the ones signing veterans at the same positions as him.1 point
-
To me, he should be the leading candidate for the spot since his service time has already started. And because he did play well at the end. We'll see how it goes in Spring Training.1 point

Him hitting in front of Trout would have sounded cool a few years ago.1 point

The fact that they can't get ANY former players outside of Harold and those 3 (which are a good three) is so, so sad. For f***'s sake, Ozzie, Beckham, Pods and Frank are on the team payroll. Colson Montgomery and Noah Schultz will have to carry the entirety of SoxFest on their shoulders, because I don't think the other prospects will have endeared themselves at all to fans since their rises were during last year's horror show.1 point
-
No idea how you can draw that conclusion since performance at MLB level by all players involved will decide that. But I suppose if Busch starts hitting right away you can claim you were right for a few years until the guys they gave up get a chance to play at the MLB level.1 point
