  1. I'll do my guy a favor and save @WestEddy some time for writing his own reply, and do it for him, because I'm a mensch. "I'M NOT STICKING UP FOR THEM? WHERE DID I SAY I WAS STICKING UP FOR THEM? WAS IT WHEN RICK HAHN ACQUIRED AN OVER THE HILL KEVIN YOUKILIS? WAS IT WHEN ELOY JIMENEZ DIED IN LEFT FIELD? STOP PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH, I'VE BEEN INCREDIBLY CLEAR ON THIS, EVEN THOUGH I DEFLECT CONSTANTLY AND HAVE NEVER ANSWERED A QUESTION WITH A DIRECT ANSWER IN MY LIFE. WHAT IS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT MY POSITION?"

  2. The replies here are insane to me. Given all the evidence that has been presented to us over the last decade plus, and quite frankly what we’ve had to endure as fans, I have ZERO issues with a former player speaking out his experience, good or bad. And his comments track with multiple other comments that have been made by other players over the last few years. This organization has not shown any interest in keeping up with where the sport and their competition, and IMO Lynn and others have zero obligation to “cover” for this organization. He was asked a question and answered it. Good for him.

  3. If Chris Getz spent less time here defending himself, and more time doing his job, the White Sox might not be in danger of back to back worst seasons in the history of baseball. Can't believe some of you are still watching this team. I don't know how you can do it. They are literally hopeless.

  4. People forget Dombrowski was running Tigers player development for years before their organization imploded and then he received a promotion to GM that no other team would have ever considered giving him. Oh no... that was Getz? Never mind.

  5. I’m sure he’s right, but the team could have benefitted from Lance being way behind everyone else in the buffet line.

  7. Well kid you had a nice professional career, sorry for what this team is about to do to you.

  8. Vargas upset about the trade… Vargas 20 pounds lighter… Vargas with 20 pounds more of muscle… All versions suck. Period. The End.

  9. Probably Jerry firing Getz, and people simply supporting the next guy, blindly, because if he's good enough to be the GM of the White Sox, he's good enough for them.

  10. Absolutely wild that one was forgotten, I wonder why?

  11. Why would MLB step in? Manfred works for the owners, and not for the good of the game.

  12. Cool. Now cut one of the worthless over the hill utility guys and play him basically every day.

  14. It matters when your “big” trade chip is becoming untradeable. Would have been nice to see a few other vets turn in good/decent seasons too like Dejong, Banks, and Fedde did last season so they can be dealt for more than cash considerations but I don’t even see that happening. So now we’re counting on drafting and player development alone to dig out of this gaping hole? Good luck

  15. Can't get fleeced in trades if you don't have anyone worth trading for

  16. Sure, and when almost every player underperforms and you can’t add to the farm system, it does matter.

  17. Next Spring, Vargas will lose the 20 lbs. they were so excited he gained this past offseason. They will say the extra weight was the problem.

  19. I just changed my outlook for this year. I want them to break their record from last year, just so JR and Getz get more heat.

  20. It’s Kenny’s/Hahn’s fault that Getz didn’t trade Robert.

  21. It would not happen. I’m pretty sure Jerry’s billionaire peers love them some Jerry. Unlike the entire city of Chicago save for a few Soxtalk people.

  22. Maybe don’t pick the day they score 10 runs to knock them. Mogollon first A ball homer tonight.

  24. It does matter. Because one of the most important aspects of an mlb rebuild is flipping current assets for future assets that will be valuable when the team is, hopefully, competitive. The total number of games before the trade deadline in July is approximately 105. So 12 games in is close to 12% of that total. Not insignificant. If things don’t turn around within the next few weeks for these trade candidates, I wouldn’t expect much of anything in return in 3 months and that is no bueno.

  26. Welcome kid, you should feel right at home, with the current roster resembling/playing at a minor league level.

  30. That’s still not the same as setting the MLB’s futility record though. As much as you want it to be the same thing, “coming close” isn’t. And Dombrowski’s team won 72 games the very next season. Getz’s team is on pace to win 27 games, which would shatter his own record from last season.
    3 points
  31. Yep, I started a knitting team and brought in someone from Joann Fabrics who was fired and an assistant manager from Michaels because they believe in my vision.
    3 points
  32. Getz will easily match that, and he’s on pace to break last year’s loss record. There’s bad teams and there’s all-time record setting putrid teams.

  33. The scary thing to me is that I’m sure there are people in the organization that have convinced themselves everything is going smoothly, just like what WestEddy is writing.

  34. The level of disconnect is astounding. The point IS to draft better, scout better internationally, and acquire better talent in trades and waiver claims, etc. And develop better. But its not like the guy in charge now, who shall never have any blame placed at his feet, has or has had any responsibility for any these areas in which the White Sox organization has failed miserably. Nope, none whatsoever. Not in the past, present, or future. All is sunshine and roses in Getz land... Holy f*** this level of mental gymnastics has to be exhausting...

  35. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to keep finding ways to stick up for an organization that has totally collapsed.

  36. WELL now we see what happens when Milkman starts a game thread

  37. Just cut Vaughn. There is no reason to do this. Give Vargas a 1b glove and let him be there and try to hit. Or put Sosa there and bring up Meidroth. Either option is better than him.

  38. The Pirates were BAD bad throughout the '90s, '00s, and '10s. The Royals were BAD bad for most of the same stretch. The Mariners missed the playoffs for something like 22 straight seasons. MLB doesn't care about parity. They care about making money. We have a long way to go before MLB steps in and tampers with an owner's business.

  39. Narvaez instead of Quero or Teel for that matter, is just more of the same...another 30 something player (33 actually) that is a temporary plug-in by Getz seeking an easy fix to try to stabilize the line-up and probably, the tenure of his job. Agree or disagree with his moves, this guy has no balls whatsoever. His goal is to improve the team slightly from the worst record in history. So anyway, I wasted my time looking at Narvaez BA over the last 3 seasons.. .206, .211, 154. ....way off his days with the WSox. This guy is toast. Turn the page already. Give the fans something interesting to watch...not these washed up veterans who can no longer even run the bases.

  42. Look if the company line is really "we knew this was a rebuild from the beginning" it was criminal neglect to not trade Luis Robert after the 2023 season. That was always going to be his peak value, even if he kept hitting, because of all of the low early salaries and years of control left in that deal. If you didn't back up the truck for him then, his injury history was always going to be a concern. But that was the absolute top, even without the benefit of hindsight, keeping a guy like this if you knew this was going to be a disaster of a rebuild looks even worse.

  43. Lmao the mlb and specifically the Commish is not saving this organization from the owner (who is paying the commish)

  44. I disagree. This is a positive development. Making good swing decisions is a good thing no matter how you spin it. It’s just that the hitters making the swing decisions aren’t MLB caliber. But if this trend continues when the prospects come up, that will be very promising.

  45. When it comes to great ways to prove this management team is different than the last one, reducing the amount of soft tissue injuries and not playing guys who are obviously hurt would be two great places to start.

  46. We’ve seen 3 prospects so far that he’s acquired in the majors, and it’s been unimaginably bad. He’s traded 3 of the most covered pitchers at the time they were dealt, and he only has 1 consensus top 100 prospect to show for it. Crochet/Cease/Fedde should have brought you back way more than what he got.
