  1. I didn't expect much but an injured 25 year old outfielder who hasn't hit in a couple years and I assume about to be rule 5 eligible (if that matters) seems below my low expectations. Don't see the need when they can go to the well on these already at AAA. Would rather seem more bullpen flyers.

  2. This is also why the whole approach of signing veterans at low costs does nothing for me. You get back non-impactful prospects almost always.

  3. Don’t get in your feelings now because yet again you make a wild statement and someone says “that didn’t make sense” you absolutely changed the point, you said they hardly got much in return for the investment in Hendriks. In this very response you are like OK FINE LETS TALK ABOUT BUMMER KELLY ETC. man, YOU brought Hendriks up and YOU said he hardly provided a return. Not me or anyone else. Now you wanna act all mad when I say that’s BS he provided all star level production for two seasons before cancer, and you immediately change to a dollar per WAR.

  4. If he makes no contact on any pitches did he truly make an appearance ? That's my tree falling in the forest analogy.

  5. In a season you're going to lose 110 games having MiLB OF depth is critical.

  6. Crapra is absolutely terrible. Getz must really love infielders that are as bad as he was.

  7. I get it if they were playing veterans who might have value at the deadline. Rojas, Taylor, Slater? Nah.

  10. Just keep Lee and see if he matures a bit his arm is so good that imo you'd hate to give up on him because of a perceived roster crunch.

  11. If this is selling high, you may as well keep Lee. What you get back for Lee will probably be worse than Lee himself. I don’t mind 3 catchers on the roster when one can play 1B or DH.

  14. 12 walks in 2 games is tied for the most the Mets have allowed in any b2b games this season, shame they couldn't turn it into more runs and steal one of these.

  15. Maybe we can get another Dru Baker for Luis Robert?

  18. What sign would Tauchman be missing? He had 2 strikes and took one down the dick of the plate. He just...decided to strike out.

  19. Yuck. Thaiss is controllable. I would have rather have just carried 3 catchers for now. I'm sure this was the best offer, but it wasn't a good one.

  20. Gil Luna and iriarte still at the AZ biomech lab (Luna made an ACL appearance last night) OF Matt Hogan to WS after his rehab stint. LHP Tommy Vail up from Winston to Bham And most notably, Pallette up to Charlotte!

  21. I understand where you’re coming from, but if we’re seriously rebuilding towards contention, you absolutely should care what they get back for one of maybe three guys on this roster with any value to other teams. We need to hit on small moves like this.

  22. You needed to sign a catcher like him for this year at the start of the season. I consider it a win you got anything for him, instead of just outright releasing him once Quero was ready.

  23. Should have just kept him for now if this is the best offer but here we are.

  24. Can Baker replace Taylor? I assume Baker wouldn’t get picked off 2nd with the game on the line and then say it was the right move or whatever.

  26. In a situation like this you are quite literally taking the best offer. My guess is no one was offering any kind of lottery ticket, instead it was more like a 25 cents off butter coupon.

  34. Of all years to waste payroll dollars on a bullpen, coming off of a 41 win season is not it. This is the year for internal candidates and grabbing interesting waiver claims. Wins and losses won't matter for years, but getting longer term control guys will.

  35. You turned this into a dollar per WAR argument because your argument sucked so bad man. This s%*# is so tired with you. Sitting here trying to argue that Hendriks was a bad investment because he got cancer in the final year of his contract and wasn’t able to pitch is right on par with trying to start s%*# with Balta about Clevinger last week. don’t tell me what the point was. All you do is change yours

  36. Thanks for sharing. My whole point around Canario was that he was still relatively young when he was made available by the Cubs and Mets (24, turning 25), he played a position of long-term need for this team (corner OF), was once a highly touted prospect, and still had a plus power tool. Also, while not great it looks like his strikeout percentage didn’t blow up out of control yet going from the minors to the majors, holding at around 28.5%. And what team would have made all the sense in the world to give a guy like Canario at bats? A crappy team like the Sox! And at his relatively young age, you might have added a starting, platoon, or backup outfielder for beyond 2025 and/or the next good Sox team. But I guess you wouldn’t want to block the Tauchman’s and Slater’s of the world who will be gone at the end of the season, if not earlier. Getz has also already employed numerous bums like Jankowski, Maton, Capra, Amaya, Dalbec, etc. this season so I can’t believe anyone would rip on the idea of adding a guy like Canario. Even sadder is how Austin Hays is currently hitting (.950 OPS). Most posters wanted him starting in RF as the best and relatively cheap comeback player candidate available before Getz inexplicably jumped on Slater as his self-proclaimed top free agent target of the offseason. The Reds signed Hays for $1 million more than what Getz paid for Slater + Tauchman and the Reds will likely be able to get decent prospect for Hays at the deadline. Slater and Tauchman aren’t going to return jack squat.

  37. Hard to maintain focus on the need for a Closer when the Sox only score one run. On that note, bring up Kyle Teel.

  38. Man this s%*# is ridiculous to even argue with you because this is so normal, but before he was so inconvenienced by Cancer as to ruin the investment of the third year, he was coming off 2 seasons where he saved 75 games with an ERA of 2.6 and was an all star both seasons. I would say up until his extremely unfortunate diagnosis, he was worth every penny

  41. Well, they hardly got much of a return on investment in Hendriks (health/TJS/cancer), Kimbrel (which led to Pollock with led to Benintendi signing), Graveman, Kelly, Bummer, etc. At one point in 2021-2022, they had the most expensive bullpen in MLB history, in fact.

  43. The solution is for new ownership to bring in competent people at all levels and areas who know how to judge talent, acquire talent, refine talent and keep talent healthy. Until then we get crap. End of story.

  44. He was flying way open in his delivery and his stuff wasn't as good. That's why he needed to go to Arizona for biomechanics work. They didn't have an issue with delivery otherwise
