Main 2024 international signing Eduardo Herrera (signed for $1.8m as a third baseman but playing mainly first this year) had a disappointing first season in the DSL, hitting just .197/.323/.250. However he was 4-4 with 2 HR today and is now hitting a ridiculous .438/.690/.1000 for 2025 over 29 PA.3 points

Split the season series, made Valdez work for his 5IP, made a top end closer sweat, and even then it took some plus defensive plays for the Astros to win by 1 at home. Can't expect much vs. DeGrom but hopefully Tauch and the youngins can stay reasonably hot until (hopefully) Baldwin and Sosa rejoin the squad for the homestand.2 points

Zach Franklin with 7K in 2.0 IP of relief for the Barons, his strikeout numbers in the minors are great, sleeper bullpen prospect2 points

that was a nasty pitch. gotta hit the hangers at the MLB level or ur cooked.2 points

At this point I'm not even concerned with what teams are interested. You aren't getting anything worthwhile enough to even look at team's prospects lists.2 points

Where would the Mets have been prior to their current owner? Ishbia cannot take over soon enough.2 points

Oh it’s 100% the owner. We got the best uniforms, Sox logo is iconic, it’s FN Chicago. On the flip side, the owner refuses to pay market rates, they don’t make serious hires, far behind the times of today’s game. JR is killing this franchise.2 points

Elko deciding not to swing on fastballs down the plate is certainly a bad choice2 points

Having left-handed Kyle Teel pinch hit for Slater would have been an all-time insane managerial decision. Slater has had a decent season but had a bad game against some of the league's best pitchers. Best not to overthink it1 point

No reason for Capra or Palacios to play another game with the big league team. Wasted ABs taking away from Teel/Quero with Palacios. Baldwin should be up tomorrow. Slater may have played the worst game I’ve ever seen. Vargas is heating back up which is fun. Astros played out of their mind defensively, insanely unlucky game for the Sox.1 point

Great plate coverage taking practice swings before the actual pitch is thrown. Meidroth is going to have to start driving more balls to the gaps unless he wants the corner outfielders to keep crowding him...that's ONE way to do it, two tough luck outs tonight for Chase.1 point

Nice bounce back inning from Dart there. Feels better if Meidroth's liner drops in right, but alas.1 point

Elko is really good with the glove, a shame he can’t get it done with the bat.1 point

Did you know that Vargas made adjustments at the end of April? John Schriffen knows.1 point

Slider down and in versus down and away is something new for Robert...but you think he'd accidentally run into one against a LHP.1 point

? Vargas is good, its a good story, and the Sox haven’t had many of those.1 point

This is where I’m at. I don’t want them to admit this year sucked, double down and pickup the option and try again next year.1 point

Colson and Vaughn with nearly identical lines... Also, don't think there's been a game all season where Clevinger and Nastrini both didn't give up an earned run. And what did Getz see in this Baker guy again?1 point

Good piece here on how risky Jace is. Also sounds like he's destined for a corner OF spot. I'm terrified at his profile. I think I'd prefer one of the college pitchers to him. An aside, he sure sounds like an Orioles draft pick. See Vance Honeycutt and Jud Fabian. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/could-this-one-2025-stat-hurt-jace-laviolettes-mlb-draft-status/1 point

I honestly think organizations get a reputation of "losers" and dysfunctional. That perception, which ins baseball's case is easy to confirm based on W-L records, gets around. Players that do come to the Sox know all about it and when they actually see what's happening that has got to impact them mentally, often to where if they go someplace else they just can't produce anymore.1 point

I’d be shocked if they took Tyler Bremner. He doesn’t get much extension and that’s a big Bannister thing. Steele Hall makes a lot of sense though and would likely be a discount.1 point

Good post. I wonder what the long-term solution is. I bet those kids you coach don't watch cable tv either. A few years ago I asked my nieces in high school and jr high if they ever watch MTV and they looked at me confused. Outside of a few things like the NFL, there's no more monoculture and everything is becoming its own niche.1 point

What doesn't make sense? Xfinity and all cable companies are losing customers at an accelerated rate. One of the biggest reasons remaining customers keep their cable is for live sports. If the customers can just get it for free over the air, there is no reason to keep or sign up for their service and cable will die even sooner. The NBA finals were over the air because they are the NBA Finals. The World Series will be over the air as well. CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox aren't airing random regular season NBA or MLB games on a weekday night. Back in the day, they always blacked out the internet feed during games and you had to buy the radio version of mlb.tv (mlb at bat?). I noticed a year or two ago they just began airing the games on the feed. Interesting that they are choosing to enforce that again.1 point

I don’t disagree with this. I didn’t care about OTA, I didn’t want it, I just wanted CHSN to be a part of my programming again and knew that your closing sentence was true, and they were gonna pull the rug. I have Comcast because I need the internet for work and I get my cable for an extra hundred twenty or so. I’m fine with what I have but I understand Comcast doesn’t work for everyone. My entire gripe about the entire scenario was the Reinsdorfs and Wirtz went into the venture like a naive puppy and expected everyone to just give them what they wanted, and weren’t ready when NBC Sports went off the air. And none of this even addresses how bad two of the three teams (and the mediocrity of the 3rd) were lol Also noticed recently that mlb is no longer allowing Audacy to broadcast the cubs games on the score (and Sox games over espn.com) over the app due to broadcasting blackout rules which for some reason weren’t being enforced last month and last year. Some weird stuff going on with that1 point

It's honestly absolutely amazing that what all of these networks and sports teams are doing is .....encouraging their customers and fanbase to pirate their product. Outstanding business acumen.1 point

The Sox don't have a fan base anymore. Between the failures on the field, the substandard ballpark experience and the debacle that has been the new TV network there's not much to retain in their current location. Anyone objectively looking at the Sox right now would likely lean that a departure from Chicago(land) for a new location is probably the best course of action. Moving to AH would still likely lead to increased visibility and attendance, but the Sox are effectively starting from zero now.1 point
