Robert is getting traded guys. I don’t want to try to police what people can post about here, but debating the merits of extending Robert is an exercise in futility. Jerry doesn’t want to pay him, the front office has lost confidence in him, and he now has Scott Boras as his agent. Unless he gets injured or suspended in the next 10 days, he will not end the season on the White Sox.7 points

From watching Plesac for years on MLB Network, the one thing that is most obvious is that he really does not take himself seriously at all. And I mean that in the positive sense. He takes his job seriously but he's not too good for anybody.5 points

This list is terrible. There’s no world in which Caleb Bonemer is a better prospect than Billy Carlson. Thorpe isn’t prospect eligible anymore and there are too many relievers on here. McDougal and Oppor both firmly top 105 points

I don't think it's far fetched to think that, after being away from each other for 5 days, they had a meeting that was akin to "we want to be better in the second half than we were in the first half." That doesn't mean there was clubhouse issues. Holding each other accountable doesn't mean there was an issue to begin with necessarily. They possibly just want to stay focused and be better for this final stretch.5 points

Just checked the box score....is it time to consider being buyers at the deadline???4 points

Plesac is awesome. Reminds me of an uncle that would mispronounce names every time, but he means well.4 points

Kinda. Don't really know why some people were running with the idea that it was about effort or something. https://soxmachine.com/2025/07/white-sox-7-pirates-2-opening-second-half-with-first-sweep4 points

Fun Brooks Baldwin fact: he has homers in both of the MiLB ballparks in rotation this season (Steinbrenner and SAC) and in both cases was the first Sox to hit one.4 points

That was roughly enough for Miguel "the Swing Change" Vargas to become the anointed savior for some.4 points

Considering we have seen absolutely zero evidence of there being any problems, both on and off the field, I think you are putting too much weight into that word being used and swinging it in a negative direction.4 points

Robert with a 120 wRC+ over his last 100 PAs with an ISO at his career average and a BABIP just below his historical norms.3 points

Not that the White Sox are swimming in high value assets or anything, but just a reminder that zero top 100 prospects were moved at last season's trade deadline.3 points

Let’s hope the likes of Vaughn, Sheets and Moncada turning things around getting rescued from White Sox help raise Robert’s trade value.3 points

I like Brooks, dude needs to be starting every day. I think he is going to be a good starter3 points

He’s better off taking a 1-year, at least $10M offer somewhere and proving he’s the guy that people think he can be to try to get a better multi-year deal than you tossed out.3 points

Whoa, Teel AND Quero in the lineup at the same time? Now you're just being ridiculous.3 points

I think we often look at things through whatever the opposite of rose-colored glasses is. Take away the jersey, look at the stats, and think about what that player could do for a contender. Tauchman, Slater, Houser, Wilson, and even M. Taylor and Robert could help other teams. I agree that other teams have similar and maybe even better players available, but the demand will most likely exceed the supply. The Sox probably won't get any surprise returns, but to discount their potential trade pieces as fodder is short-sighted.3 points

I can't imagine making a crack that some guy "throws like a girl" to my daughter without her losing a ton of respect for me. The thing is, someone doesn't need to have a daughter to think such a comment is wrong. I don't know about others, but I try to live my life in such a way that I don't go around thinking anything that doesn't affect me personally doesn't matter.3 points

Who said there was a problem? Since it was Friday sounds like a "here are the goals for the second half" type of thing.3 points

The Sosa thing wasn’t from a legit source. Mets have more infielders than they need.2 points

4/40 isn't a reasonable offer for either party and multiple people here have explained why.2 points

Nothing about it is confusing. Robert can accept a new offer if he chooses. The WS can choose to make an offer...pick up the 20 M option to retain his services, or buy him out for the 2 M option, or trade him to any interested party. I suggest we make a reasonable offer (4 years at 10M). If he doesn't accept the new contract proposal...trade him for the best offer.2 points

I do agree that we should wait and see how they handle playing time after the deadline before assuming too much. I like Sosa despite his flaws, but there is reason to believe he doesn’t fit the Getz mold and Harold’s commentary seems to support that. As such, they could be showcasing him a bit to prove he can handle 2B without being a total disaster there.2 points

There's also about 8 teams in playoff contention for whom Sosa would be a definite offensive upgrade at 2nd, if that's a thing being bandied about.2 points

I saw enough last year to know how bad these two are. That is why I am not watching this year. I can't take these two. Schriffen is just bad and Stone is a bitter old man. I hope for a change but that won't happen. I've been a fan a long time and recall some bad broadcasting. But none this bad.2 points

These two things can be true at the same time... Austin Slater would be valuable to a playoff team. Austin Slater is not worth much in a trade.2 points

To be fair, you really didn't hear that under Hahn/Williams/Griffol/LaRussa either, you only heard players get trashed on their way out the door, which continues to this day. The closest you would ever come is a mad explayer. The Chicago media doesn't have the stones to actually report on this team, only to parrot what they are told to say.2 points

A big reason for lack of success is the failure of Number 1 draft choices to excel. Other than Crochet, Sox have not done well. Now our two recent Number 1 left handed pitcher draft picks are both struggling in the minors. Colson is on the Sox roster, but there have been negative vibes along the way. Gonzalez hangs in there in AA. Vaughn, Madrigal, Burger.... I could go back to Courtney Hawkins. I have no problem with the Carlson pick, but he might.2 points

The casual fan is not running the team. Jerry is. Do you really think Jerry is going to approve Getz picking up Robert’s $20 million dollar option for next season after he has had two down years in a row? No, Robert is going the way of either Eloy or Moncada. He will likely be moved before the trade deadline. If somehow Robert is still on the Sox after the trade deadline, he will go the way of Moncada. His buyout will be picked up as soon as it can be and he will become a free agent. I mean, how can this even be in question for you?!? Just look at history.2 points
