  1. Yeah it is what it is, the White Sox are trotting out pretty putrid offenses over the past couple years and if you have anything short of a fantastic reliever you're going to see a lot of painful outings for whoever is asked to defend a bunch of small leads. Last year, Jordan faced higher leverage situations than anyone on the team and did fine even if that meant on numerous occasions it didn't go well. This year it's been bad so far and we'll just have to see how it goes but he still doesn't really stand out to me as a very important problem with the team. Sox can hand over the third-best-righty-reliever duties to Tyler Davis or Wikelman or whoever but it's small potatoes IMO. FWIW, this year Seranthony leads MLB in highest leverage appearances. He deserves scrutiny as a highly paid veteran but he's also had a pretty tough set of circumstances to pitch in. But again, in his case that is exactly what the Sox paid him for even if a better team wouldn't so constantly be holding on for dear life. He was down a full mph today with worse movement on his pitches than normal so I wonder what that's about. I'm frankly not super worried about him though.
  2. They aren't terrible losses in the grand scheme of things, but especially coming off of a pretty impressive road trip, you'd like to see them start winning more of these coin flips. 3 runs in regulation wins yesterday, and 1 in regulation wins today. Just 1 hit with RISP could have flipped either game. So many complaints about the pitching, but they handed the offense a sweepable series. Lack of execution at the plate and it's two losses in extras instead.
  3. Thome also was named Thome, so we can only compare Munetaka Murakami to other Japanese hitters named Munetaka Murakami.
  4. I think we aren’t too far from the Sox having to be honest with themselves. Who knows if next season gets played. Everyone is looking for power. They need to determine if they are going to be in the ballpark when he can get offers from other teams. If not, they should consider trading him. If they could get a Crochet like package, as much of bummer it would be to see him leave, that’s 3 or 4 really good prospects acquired just because other teams weren’t sure he could play. That’s a big win.

I will say I jumped off the Gonzalez train relatively quickly because he didn't show enough at any stop in the minors, but I'll need to see an extended run of success in AAA before I come off that hill. Like James said, definitely expect to see him in the majors at some point due to the draft spot/pedigree, but I suppose getting a UTIL guy is better than nothing.
  6. Oh. did you invite Reese over for a BBQ??
  7. So glad we took less on the Robert trade so we could "afford" him.
  8. I think there are a couple of guys who really want the big "moment" for the home crowd and it takes them away from their approach. Colson for example. He often looks like he's trying to hit the big homer that gets the huge home crowd pop...but he's more likely to get the job done when he's not pressing so hard for it. On the road, he's 6-19 (3 XBH) with RISP. Nearly 1.000 OPS and 10 RBI....But at home he's 1-12 with 1 RBI and 6K. I think he'll sort it out though, and I care far more about that than what the various filler bats do.
  9. Why Hill? League average hitter, great defense. Acuña's really the black hole on this team.
  10. Doesn't really matter what the pen does when you score 0
  11. Nice catch and effort. Kelenic currently driving to the airport :)
  12. Hasn't been worth harping on, but Luisangel's batted ball luck has been pisspoor this season. Not so much that he's lowkey hitting well or anything crazy like that. But his xwOBA is above the likes of Tanner Murray and Edgar Quero and will be ahead of Tristan Peters after today.
  13. Just dfa him and bring up Kelenic.

@Sleepy Harold @Y2Jimmy0 What are your thoughts on Jacob Gonzalez? Ever since he was drafted I've read people say how bad of a pick it was and that he will bust. He certainly hasn't performed well for a 1st round pick throughout his minor league career so far and didn't even make the FutureSox top 30. He's off to a great start so far. Maybe he finally put it together. Do you think his start so far is smoke and mirrors, or can he still be a good player? Thanks again for all the great work you guys do. You are second to none when it comes to minor league coverage.
  15. Here's a blog on a passenger rail advocacy group's website by one of its directors about Ishbia's efforts to by the Amtrak rail yard for a possible Sox stadium. There's no new information here, but it was a nice read from a life-long Sox fan who grew up a couple of blocks from Sox Park. Take Me Out to the Train Yard | Rail Passengers Association
  16. Romo did not play well.

Thanks Ron. I think he plays in the majors for sure. I'd rather see him than Tanner Murray for example. I'm not sure he ever becomes a regular though.
  19. Helmet has to be in contact with the player to count as a tag.
  20. he was john splaining how the Red Sox shouldn't have fired Cora because at 10-18 there's plenty of ball left.
  21. Stop bunting! The 6-9 in today’s order should be so embarrassing for Getz
  22. this fucking team sucks
  23. 11 straight scoreless outings for Hudson. Griffin compensates for a lack of velo with a deep 7 pitch mix, and it’s been working so far this season. He has spent the past couple seasons in NPB so maybe Mune has some tips. Griffin certainly had a pretty accurate scouting report on Mune: Griffin has allowed 0 runs in the 1st inning through 5 starts so far, and just 10 runs total through 26.2 IP (3.38 ERA). But he’s got a 5.40 ERA after the 3rd inning, and allows a 1.000+ OPS third time through. Gives up a lot of slug on the cutter/curve/4seam, and has allowed at least 1 HR in every start except for a night game in MIL with the roof closed.
  24. Got to like the long term depth behind Montgomery, Vargas and Meidroth. Antnacci, Bonemer, Carlson, Gonzalez, Bergolla, then if you pencil Cholowosky. Big difference between that and 2020 rebuild where you had Moncada, Eloy, Robert, TA, Vaughn, etc with little to nothing behind them. Catcher should be good with Teel/Quero/Romo. With Zavala back to looking like a legit prospect and Braden looking more and more like a cant miss, OF outlook seems a bit better than I thought. Pereira/Zavala/Montgomery could be pretty good down the line.
  25. Reports on the demise of Samuel Zavala and Jacob Gonzalez appear to have been premature. Seems to me Zavala in actuality is a top ten Sox prospect at minimum, rather than out side of the top 30 as was widely reported. Gonzalez appears closer to prospect he was considered at time of draft. Admittedly that was underwhelming for the pick. He looks likes hes back to actual prospect status at least
  26. People are stupid. It's actually nothing.
  27. This is a BS reply and you know it is. Nobody needs to list off the DTs and Edges taken between the 2nd and final round to justify it, there were plenty of names chosen with those positions. In three months you are gonna be “squinting and seeing” some undrafted guy who is never going to see the field and we are still gonna be wondering if Booker can play, because we have only seen a small sample size of the guy. The Bears need to spend actual money now if they plan on filling those gaps
  28. If you take away their series against the team that should have won the World Series last year, focusing on the portion of the schedule in which they weren’t 1-5, then they have had top five easiest schedules thus far. They’ve been approximately.500 against everyone that finished fourth or fifth last season.
  29. There's also a bit of a Sox/Cubs dynamic with the Yakult Swallows and the Yomiuri Giants, including the Swallows stadium being the more southern one in Tokyo
  30. They've had the 18th hardest schedule so far. They have the 14th hardest schedule remaining... Basically middle of the pack in both cases. The way you described it, I figured they had one of the top 5 easiest schedules so far.

I'd replace Acuna with Kelenic and if he doesn't make it through waivers oh well.
  33. I’m in IT. I don’t need a VPN excuse for not being able to access this site or any site. The issues with this site are specifically related to Verizon’s network, and likely their DNS routing.
  34. You should update us all on Acuna as well.
  35. Why are we comparing Pereira to Robert? They weren’t involved in the same trade and play different positions. The obvious comparison is Acuna and Robert as they both play CF and were traded for each other. Yes, Robert has slumped lately but the Sox could have Robert in CF and Pereira in RF right now.
  36. "Hey buddy, your favorite team finally isn't embarrassing themselves anymore for the last few games. I bet you feel really stupid huh" - yeah, you really got me there lol
  37. And there it is…never a fucking doubt
  38. Yesssss!!!!!! From doubt to certainty! Wowza! The old white sox ways shifting into something brighter? Nice work Getz!!
  39. Murakami should be making his decision today. Sung-mun Song’s posting window was supposed to end today at 4pm CST and news of him agreeing to a deal with the Padres came out about 2 1/2 days beforehand. Given a deal has to be signed by 4pm tomorrow and there is always a lot of fine print that needs to be reviewed by legal teams, a deal needs to be agreed to in principle before the end of the day. As such, we’re officially in the end game. In just a few hours, we’re going to make up for past wrongs and land the Japanese Babe Ruth. Dude is going to be hitting bombs on the South Side for years to come. Get fucking amped bro’s.
  40. Very good sign a source is telling Merkin!
  41. Then I guess I should get busy posting "I'm okay if they sign him or don't - there's good arguments for either" over and over and over on every string, just to hammer home the narrative that I'm good either way.
  42. This thread is fucking hot! We are less than 48 hours out now! Keep them rumors coming!
  43. Okamoto hits righty. Looking at their roster, they already have at least 3 R/R 1b/3b. Murakami fits what they said they were looking for much better.
  44. https://sports.yahoo.com/videos/favorable-market-emerging-white-sox-180752958.html 👀
  45. Every player a club signs comes with risk. This should be a relatively easy decision. Getting fans into 2026 should be a motive enough.
  46. I was looking at the bat speed of the players projected to be on this roster and we have very few guys who above average. Colson & Robert are both elite, but the latter will likely be gone before the end of next season. After that, we’re just left with Mead & Sosa, who are both just slightly above average. Everyone else on the roster is about average to well below. Point is this team is going to need some power. Roch, Braden, & Bonemer will all help eventually, but we really need a thumber in the near-term that can slot into 1B or DH. Murakami can be a mini Schwarber. People keep acting like his K rate and zone contact rate are death sentences, but they are both better than Ohtani’s were in Japan. In a suppressed market, this is a swing you take if you’re the White Sox and I honestly think they will when it’s all said and done.
