  1. The Sox had ZERO BUSINESS winning that game and the Mariners had ZERO BUSINESS losing it. One of those games that can flip a season come October. I'll have more later, still on cloud 9. I got home from the park in 10 minutes on a $2.50 scooter ride too. Gotta love modern convenience.
  2. You're a Sox fan. Your life IS suffering.
  3. I know the fun thing is to hate on Benny. But when he's DHing and especially lately it's not bad.
  4. Yeah but you think they look awful almost always.
  5. Dropped $100 on them to win the division a few weeks ago when it was +2000. Think I mostly did it because I was offended that they had Minnesota +900 but I'm starting to believe it's possible
  6. We also don't need to swing for the fences here. We have a very solid IF already. Would you rather a 80% chance at a 4 WAR player with a 15% chance of a bust or a 25% chance at a 6 WAR player with a 35% chance of a bust, to give a hypothetical.
  7. The hunt for Soxtober is on
  8. Shoulda told the ball to suck its fuckin dick, b****!

Big George with a BB, Double and a Triple. Feel like he's turned the corner lately.
  10. If that stolen base was officiated correctly, you not only get a run back, but you never need to go to Jordan Hicks because you're not losing at that point
  11. Let's sweep em instead.....too greedy??
  12. Don't know why you let Acuna lead-off ahead of your best hitters there. Then again not sure why hes on the team.

No, that is absolutely not a collection of a title contending arms. Most of those guys completely stink. Anthony Kay has an xERA of 5.94, a FIP of 5.34 and 6.6K/4.27BB 9. It's been fun having some things go this teams way for the first time in what feels like forever, but lets not mistaken that for things like Anthony Kay has a future on a contending team.
  14. Glad you're back. Feel free to poke around the other draft thread as well. Lots of good info there.
  15. The top of this draft feels akin to the “a boat’s a boat, but the mystery box could even be anything…it could even be a boat” Family Guy joke. Everything I have read is that Emerson may have a slightly higher ceiling than Roch but a much lower floor and further distance to the majors. IMO, don’t overthink this, if the two players are close in terms of ceiling, always take the college player.

Bro I hope you are able to find a good solution as we have definitely missed you here.

If you get it to work and they start playing bad then I’m sorry but you gotta go.
  18. Nice wake up this morning, White Sox winner!!

    This worked for me:
  20. I also want to shout out Venable for the rotation shuffle earlier in this stretch that set Kay up to face SEA twice. SEA has a .587 OPS vs. lefties (compared to .731 vs. RHP). Held the Mariners to 1 run in 3 out of 5 games, and two of those were Kay starts.
  21. Yep, not your older brother’s Yermin Mercedes team.
  22. Just have to appreciate this year’s team competes.
  23. That pitch was literally right down the middle.
  24. Once again some of you have never watched a game this year it seems.
  25. So sick of every blown call costing the Sox runs
  26. Our Italian connection ties it up !
  27. Ive exhausted this bit and argument so wont keep it going too much, but you wont find another elite (top 3) defensive shortstop in the past 50 years who jumped around positions.
  28. Colson starting at a position not named shortstop again. Reset the counter. It's been 0 days since the White Sox did something inexplicable.

I fully disagree with you here. They are legit competing right now (whether it lasts is a TBD given health of pitching depth) and there are plenty of ways for the pitching staff to improve next year between our top two prospects, Sandlin, a rebound from S. Smith, the TJS guys coming back, and free agency. We have zero financial commitments beyond 2027…a veteran SP of impact is an obvious move next offseason and one I expect us to actually make. Let me ask you this, is the following not enough SP depth to potentially compete next year with a positional group that should be even better: Free agent Martin Schultz Burke S. Smith McDougel H. Smith A. Kay Sandlin D. Thorpe K. Bush M. Adams
  30. my mariners doppelganger lmfao
  31. Oh no. You are going to summon @GreenSox.
  32. IMO, the draft playbook should be Roch at the 1.01 followed by two high ceiling prep prospects. Giving Roch say an even $10M and the 5% overage should give us a combined ~$2.2M to elevate our 2nd & 3rd picks. For perspective, if used entirely on our 3rd round pick (77th overall), that would allow us to boost the bonus amount to $3.3M or 29th overall money. There is also an opportunity to punt a couple picks in round 6 to 10 to add another $400k to $600k of pool. We could ultimately have enough to pay late 1st round money two prep players with our 2nd & 3rd picks, still make most of our top 10 selections, and still go $150k on a bunch of guys after round 10. To me, this is the way.
  33. Sorry for lacking sources, but I saw an interview with Jacob Gonzalez recently in which he expressed interest in playing the outfield. Said he felt comfortable doing so thanks to experience from his amateur days. He probably would like a taste of those big league paychecks so he might be willing to say such a thing even if he doesn't mean it, lol
  34. Closer should have been in to start that inning 100%

I'm with Ray on this one. Not sure Getz has the nuts to trade off what looks like a dominant high leverage arm for a haul though. Especially while in the midst of a competitive season (so far). If they still think starting is in the plan, hold.

Make him the closer this year, no matter to me. If we enter next year and Grant Taylor is in the bullpen for the White Sox, they have failed. Bullpen arms are like running backs. You don't have to spend assets to find an elite one, and most of their reigns are very short because of the volatility.

Meidroth is the heart and soul of this team, no way we can trade him
  38. 2 points
Sox really can't blow the Taylor situation. If he is going to be a reliever, they need to trade him this deadline and get an absolute haul for him. I still want him to start, but the more entrenched he gets in the bullpen the less likely that is. He can net more than anyone that will be available this year and they need to capitalize on that market now.
  39. He was so pumped when the Sox took the lead last night. What an asshole.
  40. I don't know what either. I'm learning French on Soxtalk. Who says we don't got class. This one was the polar opposite of the Sunday game. Purty AND had a great personality.
  41. good lord the Mariners blog has devolved into people talking about their mental health and the most upvoted reply in the post game is telling someone to take a step back. If you want to know why late aughts style blogging about baseball never really stood the test of time that's exhibit A. It's a game man. At the end of the day as a fan if your life is that tied up in a game you need to get a grip.
  42. Hes leading the minor leagues in HR
  43. Happy to add a mysterious victory to the tally. Ten 1 run wins is T-1 in MLB. Sox have the 4th best record in the AL (and top 10 in MLB) at 25-23 on May 20. Last year on May 20, they were also playing the middle game of a series vs. SEA and won...improving their record to 15-34. Crazy what a year can do.
  44. Bonemer is in A ball. Please don't rush him. Gonzales needs to get a look later this year.
  45. Way to keep grinding and finding a way to win!!!
  46. Robin Ventura had a better career than some guys in the Hall of Fame. That kind of turnout would be fantastic.
