  1. Sox improve to 29-27 on the season, 17-11 at home, and 8-3 in division. 3 GB of Cleveland who host Boston next. 2 game lead for WC2. 4th best record in the AL, 5th best run diff at breakeven. White Sox SP this series: 25 IP, 5 ER, 22 K, 5 BB. Combined 1.80 ERA and .640 WHIP while all going 6+. Exactly what the team and bullpen needed in this stretch. Davis Martin is tied for the MLB lead with 8 wins as a starter. The bullpen was also solid in regulation. Outside of the extra inning game, Twins scored just 7 runs for the series. The offense did their part too, going 40-138 with a .796 series OPS. Could have been a sweep with better breaks down the stretch of game 2.
  2. Lately it's been April so we'll take it.
  3. Sweet, a client just found out I was a Sox fan and gave me two Teel rookie cards, it's all coming up Sox!
  4. Team played great this series. Could have easily been a sweep if we didn't get so unlucky in the 10th on Tuesday.
  5. After years of misery, us Sox fans are finally enjoying good baseball on the southside. We should sweep Detroit this weekend with how banged up they are and with how bad they are playing. But 2 out of 3 would be good too. I’m really excited for the gauntlet in June against Philadelphia, Atlanta, LAD, NYY and Cleveland. It’s going to give this team an opportunity to show the rest of the baseball world what they are capable of. Really show they’ve turned the corner and are no longer the laughing stock. I mean it could also show how far they still have to go. But I’m opting to believe in the former, it’s much more fun. And damn, we’re doing all this without Kyle Teel. What a time to be alive.
  6. His xERA for yesterday was 1.37 per Statcast with a xBA of .141. So yes he got lucky, but not nearly to the degree you are suggesting.
  7. Twins, go home and think about what you did. Go on now, git
  8. Couldn't watch while at work. We are now the 2nd highest scoring team in the AL. This season so far is nothing short of a minor miracle. We legitimately can make the playoffs. Maybe Getz has a clue.
  9. this team hasn't seemed to play up or down to competition, they have just been steady across the board. I think that month isn't as daunting as you think. Philly is up and down. and the Braves, dodgers and yanks all have injuries. Detroit is a cakewalk and KC and Minny have been proven beatable. IF they come out of June still hovering around .500 they are clearly in the WC chase.
  10. We were due for an explosion by the offense but they need to win the series today taking 3 of 4 with the Tigers up next.
  11. I wanted to give this guy his due. We've had a lot of really s%*# managers lately. Maybe they were good at good at one thing, or even a few, but they weren't good at managing the clubhouse and getting the most out of the role players. Now clearly some of that is just luck, but Will is the type of guy to PH three straight times into a HR -- you gotta respect that sort of roto managing, but he's also far from a nerd in other ways like emotional IQ: Handles the media: Protects his young starter pulling him at peak success then has a great answer in the press, just perfect. Today, had one lineup ready to go then quickly adjusted it fairly optimally when their starter was scratched. I thought he did a great job last year too managing all the youth coming in, this year he's got a foreign import star, a half dozen guys under 26 otherwise to try and play everyday and a deep bench -- he probably thinks it's easy mode. He's doing a good job making it look that way.
  12. While it is a bit early to start thinking this way. It's fun to imagine a rotation of Martin, Burke, Sandlin, Schultz and Shane Smith finding his stuff again. Then if anyone falters maybe Hagen Smith McDougal ,and Oppor overcome their obstacles and a few more develop. Things never turn out the way we think they will but Getz has done things with 0 money to work with just snatching bodies and arms and learning how to wheel and deal like a poor street kid. He hustles. He's playing 3 card Monte , street craps & picking pockets . He's the Artful Dodger from Dicken's Oliver Twist starring JR as F a g i n. Edit : I had to spell it with the spaces otherwise it changed it to f**in. I had no idea that character from the Dicken's novel would get flagged as inappropriate because it starts with F A G
  13. Nice. Didn't expect it this soon.
  14. For so long I would sit down to watch the game with a feeling of doom hanging over me. Now I kinda expect them to win. So refreshing. I forgot how good it feels. Have I started to believe? Maybe. For the first time on this date in May since 2021 they do not have a negative run differential. A very good sign of doing things right on both sides of the ball.
  15. Could have been a sweep but can’t be mad at taking 3 of 4 from those fucking geeks.
  16. Nice - glad to see them get back home and take the 4 game series. Now lets take the next series. One game at a time - lets go Sox!!!
  17. No, but he did look like he has some future in the league which would be a small win. Fastball velocity was solid, but shape and command were not very good. He threw a lot of non-competitive pitches out of 61, and the Twins helped him out by being aggressive. Didn't have too many swinging strikes, and his zone contact rate was really high (meaning he wasn't really fooling anyone with strikes). His out of zone contact rate was also really high (would be top 5 in baseball), so in general he was pretty hittable but ran a .000 BABIP. Honestly, kind of similar to this years version of Sean Burke with less swing and miss through one start.
  18. You’re just a kid, I’ve been a fan since 1952.
  19. Maybe context matters, maybe when it’s 3 years of 100 losses it pisses long time fans off. You embraced the rebuild, I did not. Regardless of how each of us approached it, here we are 4 years later finally coming out of the weeds and we both like the same team. I don’t hold anything against anyone who thought this rebuild sucked ass, because it absolutely did coming on the heels of another rebuild. Lots of gray area here. The insults you took are just as dumb as the glum chums you keep trying to make happen. At the end of the day everyone in this thread wants them to win (except Ron. Jk) To get back to the thread, thank you for getting rid of Luis Robert, he is hurt just like always and it’s great to not be doing that roster crunch because of him every year
  20. I find it funny that there were people who took victory laps after every single loss, after every error and strikeout by Dominic Fletcher, spent their entire days looking for any comments that weren't screaming for Getz to be fired to accuse those people of performing sex acts upon Getz. Every spring outing by Cristian Mena drew proclamations that he gained 5-7 mph on his fastball just by walking out of Sox camp. Now, those of us who were the recipients of that are pushing back a little. Like, you, WS23, don't have 8 people making up BS for you to defend for literal pages, then 3-4 drive-bys of dudes showing up just to tell you you're s%*#, and your thoughts don't matter. You have to read one or two comments of people crowing that they weren't actually wrong. Maybe SoxTalk should have a special Crisis Counselor String for the mad-heads to get support in the face of the rush of good news.
  21. Looking at the Sox schedule for June and damn its tough. You have at Minn for 3, at Philly for 3, Braves for 3, Dodgers for 3, at Yanks for 3, at Det for 3, Clev for 3, and KC for 3. Were going to know by July 1st if this team is a contender or pretender.
  22. 3 points
I am going to keep chanting, "All progress isn't linear".
  23. Cathartic is the word that comes to mind getting rid of those three. Trading Vaughn cleared space at first to go after Murakami. I was glad to see Getz trade Sosa and open up another spot on the 40 man roster. If Getz he could get the green light to move Benintendi I would cheer that move also. The Sox are on a roll with call ups making huge contributions, they aren't done yet.
  24. It was really nice to see Sandlin not get flustered after the lead-off home run. He didn't just brush it off, he completely shut down the Twins after that. It has been so long since the Sox had a player as exciting as Murakami. He's exceeding pretty much all expectations, and you know there are multiple teams kicking themselves. By the way, how did he hit a 432 foot opposite field home run with such a casual swing? How about Meidroth with the power? What a great win. Let's hope they saved a few runs for the final game.
  25. I skipped a word in my excitement apparently. Hit 99, averaged 97.7.
  26. f*** yeah!!!! Great timing for this fun one too! A lot more games against the central coming up and the guys seemed like they were starting to play a little tight
  27. Red Sox have been making terrible moves the last couple of years (no, I'm not talking about the Crochet one). Edit: was just thinkin about how they dumped the face of their franchise for nothing and all of those guys have now moved on (including adding a prospect to dump Hicks haha). The Kyle Harrison deal is also a big time fumble. Also traded Tibbs for a couple of months of a bad Dustin May.
  28. Hill & Acuna out and lineup reshuffled.
  29. And the lineup has changed: Antonacci, LF (L) Murakami, 1B (L) Vargas, 3B (R) Montgomery, SS (L) Meidroth, 2B (R) Peters, CF (L) Grichuk, DH (R) Nishida, RF (L) Quero, CA (S)
  30. Feels like we need to change this lineup now. No way Acuna should be playing at minimum and I’d definitely move Antonacci back to the leadoff spot.
  31. Early to jump on Sandlin this quick - lets see what happens when he gets a few more starts under his belt. Great first outing though and if he can be even a middle of the rotation guy, that would be great value / great get for picking up Hicks contract.
  32. Only if you apologize for the nickname you are trying to force on poor Sam Antonacci.
  33. Davis Martin pitching should mean a victory. The only thing that concerns me is when a team explodes like the Sox did last night, the next day, offense is many times hard to come by.
  34. The Sox are -157 which has to be a season high. That scares me.
  35. 🤣 During the bad times I was outgunned by almost the whole board telling me I was a water carrier and stan for Getz drinking Sox koolaid. I always preached patience and wait for the kids to arrive. Id make points that so many disagreed with I had to just pick 1 to respond to or else I'd be here 24/7 . These were things everyone said during the 1st rebuild but it spectacularly collapse and everyone got bitter. Now you want to play white knight because the side you were part of is getting a little reminder that things were indeed trending up and that it would take time to come up from rock bottom ? You're a freaking saint buddy.
  36. This was a legit question and the response was typically laughed at looking at the emojis from the haters. Getz turned that money into multiple players who have had varying degrees of impact but overall it's been positive. Sandlin, Hicks , Hays ,Dominquez. The total lack of foresight astounds me at times but that's what happens when people makes their minds that everything is terrible. How anyone could think Robert could have another 4 or 5 War season inside him somewhere is crazy. Anyone who thinks I'm carrying water for Getz would be wrong. I have posted that I thought the biggest mistake Getz made was not trading Robert the same time he was trading Cease after the 2023 season. Then even the Getz haters started saying the same . Getz should have traded him after 2023 season as part of their Fire Getz campaigns. At that time pretty much the whole board thought he was Uber valuable and he was ,compared to what he ended up being traded for. So maybe he put out some feelers and asked a lot for him and got no real nibbles.Other GM knew the talent but it was his 1st season ( and only 1 ) that he played over 140 games so maybe not enough of a track record to get a kings ransom for him .That kind of how Cease got viewed too.Sure there was talent but 1 season removed from his near Cy Young year he didn't come close to repeating it. The two seasons after 2023 the most fWAR Robert, JR could muster was 1.3. Dude just couldn't stay on the field.
  37. That nickname only works when under a 3.50 ERA lol. Since Alec Hansen never made it, here's hoping this former OU Sooner/Royal does.
  38. I apologize if I’m being an idiot, but what does this mean? Did he hit 99? Or was 97.7 his top speed? Also, I wasn’t able to watch a single pitch tonight, but I’m catching up on everything now. Wow, what great game.
  39. So I was beaten to the Metallica Enter Sandman video but here's a substitute.
  40. That's a helluva track, I had know idea that sound really existed that way at that time. Huh. Learn something new every day.
