  1. Final month of the regular season. Feeling a laugher for the Good Guys tonight. I think we'll wake up with a smile on our face when September ends. Go take this division!
  2. At least until he actually did it, then it would have been the greatest move ever.
  3. 5 points
    Trade him for Boston Smith
  4. He's in the box at 8 seconds and is in the process of looking towards the pitcher when the clock is at 8 seconds. Ump just decided to be an asshole..
  5. I rarely use such language but these FUCKING RETARDED ASS UMPS CAN f*** OFF
  6. Pham gonna tell Colson to stop venturing into LF to increase his WAR.
  7. Crain's Chicago Business did some good reporting on the various federal programs that Ishbia is trying to tap into to redevelop the current Amtrak site - and possibly the adjoining BNSF site - along the river. His company has applied for a $1.8 billion loan through the Railroad Rehabilitation & Improvement Financing (RRIF) program which offers friendly lending terms. There's also pending legislation in Congress that would make any Amtrak property exempt from property taxes and sales taxes on construction materials if it's redeveloped through the RRIF program. So lots of opportunities here to get government help without making a substantial ask in the state legislature or city hall. https://www.chicagobusiness.com/real-estate/commercial/ccb-justin-ishbia-amtrak-south-loop-20260814/?utm_id=gfta-ur-260814&share-code=RSXFGSVDONBBLMWZF7I6IV2CEU&user_id=2284762&customer_secondary_source=ccb_articleGifting
  8. Hey ump! Go f*** yourself. Great effort by Sean. Offense did enough.
  9. Your first place Chicago White Sox improve to 73-65, officially ruling out a 90+ loss season. Nice bounce back outing for Burke with 5.2 scoreless, 1 hit innings. Velo was still down a little but he worked through it. Colson also continues to look much improved at the plate. Martin and Mune following suit would be really helpful for a strong, momentum-building September. Hat tip to the Grichuktendi vet duo for their consistent contributions. Hopefully the boys grab another win or two here despite the ump crew's best efforts and Cease throws a CGSO tomorrow.
  10. .103 xBA for the Astros in this game. Sox pitching did very well. A ball that would be about 5 steps in front of the warning track in Chicago is all they got.
  11. f*** YOU CHEATER FUCKS. LETS KEEP IT GOIN TOMORROW
  12. Hopefully this is a sign Burke has it figured out again. desperately needed if so. Good win
  13. Way to bounce back Burke and nice to see another good game for Colson. I think Mune is close - we are about to see a streak of Muneshots!
  14. Look, I need them to give Taylor a sick-ass intro at home.
  15. Why is it when we go up by 5 or more in a game we almost always end up using Taylor?
  16. Tristan can't complain because he's had some pretty lucky ones.
  17. "I like watching the LPGA" yea now i hate you again Schriff
  18. Just when I thought I was completely done with him, he wins me over.
  19. Schriff just called Altuve retarded instead of retired
  20. I think it’s him trying to turn up his own intensity because of where they are in the season. He’s corny but he’s always been corny. Now it’s like he’s trying to become more focused yet it’s still corny and still incredibly surface level analysis. It just really amplifies his lack of knowledge about the game. He’s been a cheerleader for 2 1/2 years, just like Hawk was, which is fine, but at least Hawk knew what hell was talking about.
  21. I don't care if he's off on the pitch, you don't run on that when the ball is that close to the infield.
  22. I think many things are consequential when the season could come down to a single game being the difference between making & missing the playoffs. I’d prefer someone who wasn’t 20% below league average against LHP last year and may ultimately not be an upgrade over what we currently have. Is it our biggest problem at the moment? Obviously not, but it’s a bit more frustrating because we had other better solutions in house throughout the season.
  23. If only the Rangers had waived Nicky Lopez (wishful thinking for a playoff contender, I know). Getz needs better scouts and advisors (both internal and external).
  24. FWIW next scheduled LHP is 9/11 vs Cardinals. Pham leading off would be the worse thing to ever happen on that day (yes, sarcasm)
  25. It’s strange because they supposedly loved him prior to 2025. I think this is more Venable adores Pham.
  26. Biggest issue I have is that he’s just not good anymore. Hate this habit of acquiring players who are having terrible seasons and putting them into a pennant race.
  27. The role makes sense. He’s been below average against LHP the last two years though, so just questioning the fit.
  28. I mean that’s literally his job why is this controversial
  29. I feel like this move has way too much oxygen here and people are making way too many grand statements about its importance and meaning. Tommy Pham isn’t coming here to displace a starting outfielder for the final month. He is a bat and occasionally a glove at the end of the bench. Yes, I would rather rewind time and have Derek hill all season. No, that will not happen.
  30. So someone from Bridgeport is afraid to go downtown? Do you actually expect someone to believe this "story"
  31. Could you imagine if DeBartolo was allowed to buy the White Sox and JR wound up buying the Cubs a year later? They would have moved out of Wrigley. Old park, no lights at that time, and no parking lots as far as the eye can see. They would be playing in a suburban ballmall (one word Marriotti got right) with a Pittsburgh Pirates like payroll.
  32. 2 points
With all due respect I need to see a few years of solid play out of Peters before I am convinced he's for real.
  33. I really don't think Pham is going to replace Grichuk in LF against lefties. He might replace Braden in the starting lineup but I doubt it. They want him to get those at bats I'd imagine for his growth. Also then your outfield defense is pretty horrible. Pham is likely just to give them another right handed hitter option off the bench to play matchup games with in later innings.
  34. He is a sub maybe once or twice a week. Maybe. It’s incredible to read the hand wringing
  35. Please for the love of god win a game or two. My stress level and overall mood can't take the losing
  36. We all know that players choke occasionally; can GM's choke, too?
  37. McDougal’s line in Charlotte since being sent back down: 4.2 IP | 3 K | 6 BB | 10 H | 11 R | 7 R | 3 HR | 13.50 ERA | 14.44 FIP Definitely the guy who should get the call to solve our pitching woes!
  38. I don’t get this move at all. Pham hasn’t been above average against LHP since 2023 and is now 38 years old. He is also a below average defensive OF and has lost a lot of his speed. What does he bring to the table exactly? More importantly, whose roster spot is he taking? It’s pretty wild that we gave away Hill, Periera, & Hays for nothing and now are rolling the dice an old, likely broken player. And yes, broken could also probably describe Hays and maybe even Periera to some extent, although Everson at least killed LHP when healthy.
  39. That's the risk you take if you have to rely or hope that someone else can help you out. Who you play, when you play them and what the circumstances are all come intro play and it can work against you. There's a way to avoid all this...win games yourself.
  40. Do you have a 1.2 fWAR? How many YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH buddies do you have?
