  1. Never underestimate how fucking annoying the Guardians are.
  2. If the Sox go 5-1 this week they probably win the division. So go do that.
  3. The 1987 World Champion Twins won 85 games. The 2006 World Champion Cardinals won 83 games. the White Sox, if they make the playoffs, have nothing to apologize for.
  4. I mean seriously, we have a dude saying I DO NOT WANT TAXPAYER MONEY, I GOT THIS, and somehow it is a bad thing. No more welfare queen billionaire hand outs sounds great to me.
  5. Famous last words. No sox fan should ever be confident about anything until the clincher.
  6. I don't see the Red Sox laying down for a series against a team they could face in the playoffs in a couple weeks. They still have six games to go against two tough teams and I'm sure don't want to limp into the playoffs on a losing streak. They may be a bit more conservative with pitching but this should be a tough series for Cleveland.
  7. 1) Jerry claimed the current location is not economically viable and wanted to move the team to the 78 closing in on 3 years ago (January 2024) - long before Ishbia entered the picture as a possible successor to him. His ask was ~$1B in taxpayer money for the ballpark. 2) Amtrak identified the Bridgeport railyard parcels as their desired location for a modernized maintenance yard several years ago - again, long before Ishbia entered the picture. 3) Ishbia was working on buying the Twins and not part of the Sox future ownership plans while the first two items were happening. I mean, those are actual facts of what happened. The only thing that is opinion here is JR's assertion that the Sox cannot compete at the current site. That's open to debate, but the rest is just plain and simple facts of what has transpired. All the meltdowns, lashing out, manufactured motives, and laugh emojis can't change reality. I suspect the singular, irrational hatred of Ishbia stems from the fact that he is the one guy who has the wealth to provide enough private investment to make this happen. Ishbia’s wealth enabling this to happen is probably true. If this were up to the Reinsdorfs, as rich as they are, they don't have the personal liquidity to make this happen, so the South Loop stadium would probably remain a pipe dream. Almost all other new stadiums include hundreds of millions in public money to build the thing (including for the A's, Rays, and Royals). Here, Ishbia is suggesting that he'll privately finance the ballpark. I'd imaging that is welcome news to most fans and most taxpayers. Are residents suppose to be outraged because he'd also benefit from such an enormous private investment? What do residents of Nevada, Tampa, and KC think about a stadium being proposed in Chicago where the only public funding is for infrastructure?
  8. 80+ wins - Successful Playoff berth - Very successful Win a playoff game - Very successful and exciting Advance past the first round of the playoffs - Holy s%*#
  9. I keep landing on if they don’t make the playoffs, they’ll be both a success and a disappointment. Success: Going by the whole “If you told me in March that this team would be 4 games over .500 and fighting for a playoff spot etc etc etc” thing, it’s clearly a success. Disappointment: Basically it’s too late to not make the playoffs now. They played too well for too long. It’s sort of like that “accidentally became important at work” meme. They messed around and made themselves a contender and you just can’t collapse and miss the playoffs after all that. Can they be both a success and a disappointment at the same time? I’m open to someone telling me why this logic is stupid.
  10. Great win, but man I'm hungry for the division and hungrier for the second bye. At the end of the day, I just want this young team to get a taste of the playoffs so they know what they're chasing/playing for every year.

  12. Explain to me why long before Ishbia got into the picture, that it was Jerry who was first pushing for a stadium on this site? Also, do you really not understand why a team that isn't dead last in MLB in overall revenues might actually be great for the future success of the franchise? The Cubs made an estimated $552 million last season. The Sox made $224m. Do you enjoy having a historically awful team? I know I don't. I would love to be able to do things like sign real free agents instead of D listers like Andrew Benitendi. Your singular hatred of one person, for no good reason, blinds you to literally every single objective thought about the future of this franchise.
  13. I mean all you need to do is look at his numbers YoY over the last few years. His velocities are down, his hard hit and line drive percentages are up. He's throwing less ground balls. His K rate has dropped significantly. The red flags have been there when combined with his age and historic work load.
  14. Now is exactly the time to be playing hurt. I’m sure everyone involved in the decision making, especially the player, agrees with that statement. Well maybe not the doctor but he’s probably a nerd anyway.
  15. Let's hope the question soon becomes a moot point. Getting hot now and marching thru the playoffs is a real possibility. How's that for success? Let's question the seasons' success after the season. Don't stop now, boys.
  16. I really like the Eckersley comparison. Castillo has very good postseason stats, seems fair to say he has another gear, maybe he re-discovers his stuff out of the bullpen and the trade isn't a total bust. All things considered, I'd probably still have more confidence in Castillo to pitch well in the postseason than Mason Adams or McDougal.
  17. Or, hear me out: 0-6 and they miss the playoffs completely
  18. That's just not true. No one know what he would become, but he was a player with a lot of tools and potential. The international guys knew that and warned Rick Hahn not to trade him....Preller knew talent and, in particular international talent. The point is that you never ever trade high potential for low upside. Even had Shields pitched like Shields, you are just getting an average innings-eater.
  19. According to Les Grossman he thinks it's going to take a G5 airplane and lots of money....playaaaa!
  20. If they fail to make the playoffs, it wasn't a successful season. I wouldn't have made that proclamation in March of 2026, but expectations change, and as we sit here on September 21st....this team should make the playoffs, and if they don't, it was a large let down. Additionally, even if they make the playoffs, I actually feel worse about this team than I did in say July. With the way the 2nd half has gone, there are way more question marks about the future of this team than there was even a few months ago. C - Teel basically had a lost season and isn't going to see more than 150 AB's this year. On top of it, he's going to end the season batting below .200. Quero spent more time in AAA than MLB and put up a -0.8 WAR when he was in Chicago. The catching situation is not in as good of a spot as I thought when the season started. 1B - Murakami has been one of, if not the worst hitter in MLB during the 2nd half. Fantastic first half story, but we simply don't know who he is at this point. And makes the contract extension talks much more complicated moving forward. 2B - I like Meidroth and think he's got a place on the team moving forward. Ideally he's a super sub that still gets 450-500 AB's all over, but he's fine starting at 2B SS - Most disappointing player on the team. Colson took a huge step backwards in his development in 2026. I honestly don't know if you can consider him a "core" piece moving forward, especially with Caleb/Carlson/Roch in the system. 3B - If this is the real Vargas, think the Sox are fine at 3B for the next few years. LF - Good rookie year from Antonacci, especially playing out of his natural position, but want to see more overall production from the LF spot. Not his fault, but they need more from that position CF - Pretty remarkable season from Peters, came out of nowhere, but can we expect it again next season? Big unknown, but we're all rooting for him to succeed. RF - Again, we all want him to be successful, but not a good rookie campaign from Braden. Going to need drastic improvement from him moving forward. I'm not going to go through all the starters, but they have a collection of No. 3/4 starters on this team, and no one misses bats. Burke is on the borderline of being a No. 2, but need to see more. Hagen and Taylor were both great out of the pen, but long term hope has to be one, if not both of them getting a starting opportunity. Schultz had an incredibly disappointing 2026, as did pretty much every pitching prospect in the Sox system. tldr: Teel, Murakami, Colson, Branden all had high hopes for 2026, and don't know if we feel better about any of them as the season ends. If those guys aren't producing for the Sox over the next 2-3 years, this thing goes nowhere fast.
  21. Lmao some of you are so excited to s%*# on a playoff run
  22. Yes, but I'm not ready to go there mentally. It's winning time.
  23. It's very likely the Sox are going to exceed expectations of literally everyone on the board. So in that sense it's a "sucessful season". But as as the season progressed expectations were revised. Especially with where we sit now 3 up in the WC with 6 to play, gotta make the playoffs for me to consider it a "success".
  24. i think if they faded out of the division and playoff lead a few weeks ago, and they finished with 81 or 82 wins, then you could definitely consider it a successful season. If, however, they now fade out of the playoffs, to me it's not successful. You sold playoff tickets, and least use some.
  25. Oh, Miguel Vargas is #1 in fWAR for 3B in the game. Meidroth's #5 for 2B. Tristan Peters is #8 for CF. Peters, Antonacci and Grichuk have put up 3.8 fWAR in LF play.

That's. rap. Thanks for doing this all season, Doc!
  27. It’s the Cubs series that is going to have trouble, and I hope it’s as miserable as possible for both of them. For the Cleveland series, give me clear skies and the Guards getting their ass whooped.
  28. Not sure why you would assume that. Age probably has more to do with his decline.
  29. Important to remember is that we own the tiebreaker with Cleveland.
  30. He's easily the most important guy to lock up long term. I guess it depends on if they feel he is the long term solution at 3B - his defense is still very much below average. What a great developmental win for the Sox though. He's not a FA until 2030. Probably better to wait, even if you need that forces them to pay him more a few years from now. I'd argue the greatest blunder Hahn made was paying everyone in advance, running up payroll, and preventing additional FA moves to plug holes.

People conflate him painting his nails to being soft. This guy played the PAC 12 championship on a grade 2 hamstring strain.
  32. #1 second baseman in the AL in fwar (2nd in bwar), 4th in MLB 2b war....."super sub"....."he's fine". Dude gets zero respect for what he's done.
  33. If the sox take care of business they will have every chance to win the division as Cleveland is slated to face ....... BOSTON: G1: Payton Tolle G2: Sonny Gray G3: Ranger Suarez KC: G1: Nick Cameron G2: Michael Wacha G3: Lynch That is 5 really good pitchers they have to face
  34. 2 points
Which is incredibly stupid. He didn't know at the time how serious it was. You're telling me that you can feel what grade of hamstring tear you got? Bullshit.
  35. Massive improvement from the past three years and probably a couple years ahead of "schedule". That's a very successful season. But with the playoffs well within reach, it would be disappointing if they didn't at least get in via the wild card.
  36. This really looks like a GameThread
  37. No, 2026 is not a success without a playoff berth. Good gracious we only need 84 wins.
  38. Resounding success no matter what. A large driver in me thinking that way goes beyond simple wins and losses. This team blew away all expectations and are on the brink of making the playoffs despite going into the season with a roster that was clearly not built to contend. The starting rotation was a joke and there was very little money thrown at making it whole last offseason. Tried to beef up the pen a bit with Dominguez, but no one looked at that pen full of castaways and thought they'd be worth a damn. There was nothing invested in the line-up. Tristan Peters as a starting OF?! A rookie RF, hoping for Quero to hit to cover for Teel's injury, Mune a complete unknown, moving Sam to LF? Them getting to .500 with those questions and that roster heading into the season was something no one could have predicted. Then you look at the deadline and the way Getz kinda HAD to handle it. With such a top heavy farm, he could not sacrifice those top prospects to get the types of players we needed to become a true contender. Improve the roster? Sure, but he wasn't going to build a contender. Turns out, the deadline was an abject disaster. So this team, so bad for years and a s%*# roster this season, no midseason help, still ends up .500 or better? That's a win and should make us all excited for the future.
  39. Anything can happen in 6 games. Sox just gotta take care of their own business and keep winning.
  40. Bases loaded in Boston and El Duque to the rescue, man I was sweating that one out.
  41. Don’t even have to to that far. What about El Duque? He was dismissed on this board as a washed starter and turned in the most memorable relief appearance in the history of White Sox baseball
  42. 2 points
Baseball Reference and CBS Sports this morning prediction odds have the Sox and Guards tying for the Division of course with the Sox winning because of the tie breaker, I guess they think the Sox have the easier schedule but you still have to play the games and for me 1967 is still fresh in my mind.
  43. I took away some positives from yesterday's game. I thought I saw Brazoban hit 97 on the gun yesterday. He looks healthy and is another option in the pen. Castillo was throwing strikes in his inning of work; he could also be an option for the pen now that his role has changed. Peters pinch ran and then played left for the ninth inning, great news there. Martin pitched great and was pulled for precaution on a lower body issue. No further injury just playing it safe, so that good news. Brandon had 2 hits, Doyle beats out an infield single to keep the inning alive and motors home from 1st on Brandon's hit, Chase and Sam were fantastic, Colson got a hit and 2 walks. The boys came up big when the pressure was on knowing Cleveland had won earlier in the day. They are gamers !
  44. You forgot to mention that Getz and co fixed Castillo. He was on display tonight.
  45. Props to the fans who stayed out there…can’t say I’d do the same. Should’ve swept them, but good win and good series. Cleveland with 3 against Boston, our best chance to overtake them. Bats are getting going again and my man Doyle is looking a million times better in the box (still chasing some non-competitive pitches). BP rested, especially with an off day tomorrow. Let’s do this s%*#.
  46. Maybe she's going to run for public office again.
  47. Yes, I for one would be outraged if the White Sox went to the World Series, and I’m sure most on this White Sox fan board would agree.
  48. Sure, but Tatis Jr. turned out to be better than everyone Hahn acquired for stripping down the entire team. That turned out to be a Top Ten bad trade of all time.
