  1. So...I guess different managers do different things.
  2. Sad but probably true.
  3. This is where I'm at. A HOF manager should retire with some dignity.
  4. Smart teams don't keep the 20-million-dollar aging player while trading the cheap young stud. I like that JR is loyal to his people but the Konerko farewell tour was not enjoyable. I hope the WS hire a talent evaluator GM and RH can serve as a contract specialist or leave. Williams is long past his prime and should retire as he has wanted to do for years.
  5. I tend to agree with you. Bill couldn't afford to play the money game with the big boys. Veeck made up for his lack of money with tons of wheeler-dealer trades. Trades are a fan favorite and he understood that. The current FO doesn't make anywhere near the number of deals that fans like. We seem conservative and cheap to the average fan. I don't think we are cheap at all but we spend the money poorly.
  6. My guess is that LaRussa will be "promoted." I would love a house cleaning of the FO, manager, and coaches. Hire from outside the organization a President of Operations and give him a budget. The three-headed monster that is our FO (JR, KW, and RH) leaves no one responsible for getting results. I hate watching players who don't hustle and cannot stay on the field because they are made of glass. I would happily take the number 2 man from Tampa and take my chances.
  7. The "give a shit" improvement you mention would be most helpful IMO. We have been out-hustled in virtually every game.
  8. You named my two favorite managers and the reason why.
  9. Harrison...brain cramp.
  10. I enjoyed last night's lineup with neither Leury nor Hendricks in it. Their replacement looked competent instead of "peppy".
  11. His act has worn thin. Not a fan.
  12. Sending a runner like Grandal (slow with bad knees) with no outs is third-base coach malpractice.
  13. Injuries to Leury and Grandal have improved the team substantially IMO.
  14. The injuries to Leury and Grandal are forcing RH to improve the team with Andrus and Perez. Even God has seen enough.
  15. Hopefully, a new FO will make that decision.
  16. I hope you are right. The odds aren't exactly with you but that's what being a fan is about. You need to believe.
  17. Take 3 out of 4 from Houston and the bandwagon will be back and rolling.
  18. Teams that run out every play and steal bases whenever possible make us look bad. This team needs swagger but we look intimidated.
  19. We need to move on from this whole coaching staff. Watching a low-energy team play out the string is of little interest to me. The Royals looked for all to see like the better baseball team. I have defended the FO and ownership more than most but this has been brutal. I honestly feel that almost any average fan could put together better lineups and make in-game decisions equal to or better than LaRussa. I didn't like him the first time and he is far worst this go-round. Jerry's first responsibility should be to the fan who supports this franchise, not some employee he regrets firing 35 years ago. Tony's HOF plaque says "master of maneuvering lineups and managing bullpens"---give me a break.
  20. Comfortable in a low-pressure environment.
  21. Whenever a pitcher slows it up like he is afraid to throw the ball...disaster is about to happen.
