Not really. They have a plan and didn't want to risk blowing it up by offering $18M to an injury waiting to happen so they could draft the 75th best player in this years draft. That would have been really really stupid.4 points

Wonder how he looks without spider junk. He had a career resurgence after going to the Astros.3 points

Ah the classic GreenSox post. Shitting on Hahn for players you don’t approve of, yet never saying who you would like to acquire, or what the plan should be. You’re the guy that goes to his boss and complains about a problem, but never offers a solution. Just wants to b****.2 points

Because the Twins were in the exact same situation with Buxton and Berrios. In the end, the White Sox have enough position player talent to overcome pretty much anything the next couple of seasons, but they have also clearly fallen far short of the Astros/Royals/Cubs models in terms of having early breakthroughs in their competitive windows. Something has to give. Until we at least win a playoff series, we're not any better off than the Twins or Indians...except a much more "profitable" or valuable franchise due to the Chicago market.2 points

So he had two innings of adrenaline-fueled velocity while having no sharpness to his slider for the last few months of the season. It was obvious to anyone who’s watched him that he wasn’t right.2 points

Which is why we should wait and see what they do this offseason or what kind of contract Rodon gets before we declare them idiots. If they have higher hopes than Carlos for that last rotation spot, then it probably wasn’t worth offering him the QO if there was any level of risk he would accept. Also, who is to say Carlos wouldn’t have pulled a Thor by trying to get a quick deal and then using the QO as a fallback if he couldn’t pass a physical? We just don’t have enough info right now to say it was a stupid decision or not.2 points

God we're starting with this and only one disappointing non signing so far. Going to be a long offseason.2 points

We’re going to be dumpster diving a lot this off season aren’t we?2 points

13-1 rejected but some how Rodon would 've accepted it in Never, Neverland.2 points

How great can a track record really be when 3 of the last 5 years he didn't pitch over 30 innings ? Sounds like a sure fire 21M contract to me. Rodon pitched like an ace for 130 innings in 2021. Last time Noah pitched significant innings was 2018. OK 2019 but he wasn't an ace by any stretch then missed the following 2 years.2 points

Scientists still have not discovered why we sleep entirely. Researchers have been able to measure brain waves and find out a little bit about what is going on in our brains, but they still don’t know why sleep is necessary for humans2 points

The cynic in me wonders if this is JR getting the "look, we tried" piece out there, but the optimist in me wonders if having TLR around is extra motivation for JR to spend. Either way, it's fun to entertain the possibility.2 points

Don’t know who this Bob Ostroski guy is but it sounds like he’s saying it’s for Kimbrel. He misspelled his name wrong. This is very weird. Probably just another silly rumor.2 points

Just saw an article segura wiped all things Phillies on social media and trade is incoming. Is that the swap for Kimbrell?2 points

This is a bad take. Wishing for the rise of competition in the AL Central is a bad idea. The more shots we have at the playoffs the more likely we are to go further. The better the competition the more likely we are to watch the playoffs from a spectator standpoint instead of as a participant.2 points

I saw a couple games and here are my thoughts: Jose Rodriguez Util: I kinda liked this kid. He's a tough out w/a simple quick compact stroke and plus bat to ball skills. He uses the middle of the field and really grinds out his AB's. It's 30 power but at only 20 years old he has time to get a stronger. He has solid avg actions and arm strength. His range is fringy so he may not be an option at SS but he can handle 2B/3B and likely a corner OF spot in a pinch. He's a high floor/low ceiling guy who could be an everyday player on a non-contending team or a solid bench guy on a championship level team. Acquire Yoelqui Cespedes LF: He has the tools to be a big leaguer but needs to find an approach to even stay in the big leagues let alone to be a productive everyday player. He's not tall but he's strong w/a muscular build. He's an (early) early action player looking to ambush the first pitch he sees. He has solid avg bat to ball skills, plus bat speed and above avg raw but doesn't make nearly enough consistent hard contact. His defensive actions are decent w/fringe avg arm strength. He won't kill you in RF but profiles best in LF. It all depends on if he can develop some plate discipline and work the count in his favor so he can consistently drive the baseball but at 24 years old the clock is ticking. Do not acquire McKinley Moore RHP: He was ok. 94-95 w/some life thru the zone. Hard curveball has decent shape and bottom. The cutter is hard w/some late break. He threw strikes with all 3 pitches and got swings and misses on the breaking balls. It's a different pitch mix and he could end up as a middle reliever/low leverage guy. Do not acquire Johan Dominguez RHP: He got knocked around. He's a hard thrower but it's straight w/no deception. The slider flashes plus but is inconsistent and the change is below avg. He has avg control but lives in the middle of the plate. He's got up and down guy written all over him. Do not acquire2 points

All true, but I would grade it as "great" simply in comparison to my expectation/fear here, which is no SP of any consequence.1 point

The weird trick that obliterates 90% of unfair critiques on this board. "Interesting. And how does that compare to other MLB teams?"1 point
