  2. i got to say tho, TA be a bit of a diva. if that was Moncada he would have spit on it and tried to play until jose talked him out of it.

  3. let him come in tomorrow as a pinch runner, but don’t let him run.

  5. Thinking anderson should have seen that third was the play there is an interesting take. This one is on Yoan - he needs to be yelling 3 there. That ball was hit deep enough in the hole that anderson cant be taking his eye off the ball to check third and he did not have any time to check it before the play to one. Yoan needs to be aggressive and loud there as he is Timmy's eyes on that play because tim had to focus on the ball.. since that's kinda important and all.

  6. Screw Ozzie. Hire Ditka. Unfortunately, Ricky will be here until he screws up JR's Dunkin Donuts order multiple times.

  8. dude I uh, have had two fully ruptured patella tendons, at the same time. There's like 5 of those in the entire US every year. I was a presige charity case for my surgeon and I have blown past the best case outcome (full recovery to all activity basically). also have had a completely shattered foot requiring 4 pins and months off it. I know pain and I know athletes in pain. If all he has is a really an ankle sprain (yea had a lot of those too) and had to be helped off like that I can say that's a bit of a diva move. i love TA man, but I call it like I see it. anyways go sox and go TA!

  9. God bless those of you who can pay an ounce of attention to the actual game, cuz I sure as hell cant.

  10. This whole ridiculous mess with pitching is not Renteria's fault. I might be in the minority as I think Ricky has done a nice job with this club and the young guys

  11. Well we sign those guys to be starters here.

  12. Abreu chasing out of the zone pitches is getting chronic. I would drop him in the order to 5th or 6th.

  13. Another reason not to do a bullpen day...Ruiz sucks and shouldn’t pitch in close games. Sox management really has their heads up their asses right now

  14. So sick of TA crappy defense being babied from everyone in the organization, saying he had a good night.

  15. I don't see how you can come here and constantly play the martyr but here we are. No debate class, just annoyed at your constant playing the victim, dismissal of anyone who actually brings facts to a discussion, and you calling people haters and sabes many, MANY, people on this site have spent hours writing long form posts that's debate things that you dismiss and barely skim. So happy for you that avi is finally having a good season, it's so great that it took 5 years of fucking around in a white Sox uniform to actually have another good season. Yay avi. Yay

  16. I’m tired of Ricky and the front office. The only thing that keeps me watching is the progress of Yoan, Eloy, Tim, McCann and Giolito

  18. Ozzie? I have never seen a manager, in any sport, quit on his team worse than Ozzie. He managed in a way so that he would be fired and allowed to take a position with a different team. That should never be forgiven. He burned the bridge.

  19. This is what I would like the White Sox do for a change. If they think they need to change managers, give it some real thought, interview more than one guy, and even consider baseball men outside the organization. In fact, they should make up their minds and hire someone who has never been connected to the team. For once, treat this job as if it was important and approach the hiring that way.

  20. Anderson has been 98, 78 and 85 in wRC+ before this season. Is he going to stay at 120 for the rest of this season? Probably not. Is he one of the best ten or twelve SS’s in baseball? Undoubtedly, despite the brain cramps, routine play blunders and occasional overaggressiveness when caution is called for on the basepaths. Like Jose Valentin, he makes up for those blunders with his range and arm. In the end, it’s a huge win to get 3-4 fWAR out of him on a consistent basis. He’s one of our five young core position players moving forward. He’s also probably not the superstar he looked like the first six weeks, and walk rates will always suppress his full offensive value. Finally, replacing your SS is probably the hardest move you can make as an organization...along with developing a young catcher who can both hit and field. Being objective about a player on your team is far from being a hater. My point was that moving him to the outfield creates an even bigger hole to fill at SS.

  21. No....just no. The clamoring for Ozzie by several White Sox fans because of what he did 14 years ago is flabbergasting.

  22. Well I found something different we can spend some money on: For any who don't know, Boddy is the guy who runs Driveline. Let's use some of that money we have lying around to revamp our player development staff.

  23. Thought this would be a fun discussion. What are some of your favorite interactions that you have had with players? Or the best players that you have met? I briefly got to meet Frank Thomas at a signing a few years ago. I now live in Charlotte (which is also close to Winston-Salem and Kannapolis), so I have met most of all the top prospects since the rebuild started (Jimenez, Cease, Kopech, Giolito, Moncada, Robert, Madrigal, Burger, and Gonzalez). I also met Jose Contreras at the Kannapolis Intimidators game last season. He was there while Rodon was on rehab assignment. I was able to take a picture with him, get a baseball signed, and he threw me a ball during the game. One guy that I always wished I was able to meet was Magglio Ordonez. He was my favorite player growing up.

  25. This... 15 ks to 1 bb today for our batters. This happens way too often. Steverson should be looked at.

  26. Yeah.. reality check. Can't win mlb baseball games with no starting pitching and a thing ass bullpen. And a team with players that set team mlb record for strikeouts last season. So tired of our players hacking at shit pitches... we do it way worse than anyone we play against. It's infuriating.

  27. Jimenez has played a passable left field IMO. I sure don't want him on the bench for National League home games in the playoffs.

  28. I could feel the hope of 2020 leaving my body. Didn’t know it was possible to be giddy about an ankle sprain.

  29. He’s back and on fire. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a two-run home run and scored two runs in a win over the Orioles on Tuesday. Orioles starter Jimmy Yacabonis hung a breaking ball in the second inning that Tatis skied to center field, just eluding the outstretched glove of center fielder Keon Broxton for a two-run blast. The homer was his ninth of the season, giving him 25 RBI and 34 runs scored to go with nine steals. The 20-year-old has been as advertised through the season's first half, batting a robust .323/.392/.585 in 44 games played.

  37. Ozzie woulda let these umpires have it. Ricky, not so much
    1 point
  38. Yup. and if they were to all of a sudden demand more it would look really bad to all the other teams. If you cant trust them you wont draft him or work with his agent in the future. He would be really dumb to pull a move like that. My guess is they are waiting for a home weekend series so they can have a Vaughn day, where he gets to throw out the 1st pitch and be celebrated.

  44. Why just another year or two? We should give up on him if he doesn't improve in a year or two? Let him go? The guy had a .781 OPS in his age 21 season at a level where most were older than him.

  45. I would like to see Ricky experiment with Abreu lower in the batting order. He swings at way to many out of zone pitches based on his desire to be the rbi guy. When he is swinging under control he is still a dangerous hitter.

  46. The White Sox 2016 class is pretty promising and there are some interesting guys (Jose Rodriguez) in the AZL from the last couple years. Allocating resources in this manner is a bit puzzling but they must see something in the bat of Sanchez. They saw him a lot since he was teammates with Robert.

  47. Last I heard, pitch framing sabermetrics have been a subject of debate for a while. However, if I am wrong about that - I digress. I never watch a game and fall under the impression that McCann is anything but a solid pitch framer. I know his CS% is elite and that his defensive WAR is currently the equivalent to Austin Hedges defensive WAR.
