White Sox baseball sure is fun lately. Imagine if we had more than one real starting pitcher.3 points

Just don’t like Keuchel at this point. I think you could probably get Wood on a pillow contract for a fraction of the cost and he just might outproduce him in 2020.2 points

Next 15 games should be a good test for our important players. Wins are nice, but I want good fundamental baseball and if it’s only 6-9 or 7-8, that might be good enough for this team.2 points

I will take the career 770 PA over his 43 PA this season. Alonso fucking blows against LHP.2 points

Except on this night: July 31, 1991 - The white hot White Sox capped off a sizzling month with one of the most dramatic moments in team history. The Sox trailed the Rangers 8-6 going into the bottom of the ninth inning. Texas brought in former Sox All Star pitcher Rich "Goose" Gossage to close things out. But the goose got cooked on this night as with two out, Robin Ventura hammered a grand slam into the right field stands winning the game 10-8. A full house, which included noted Cub fan Bill Murray sitting almost behind home plate, went wild as Ventura was bodily lifted off the ground by massive Frank Thomas in a celebration hug at home plate.2 points

Wood makes sense as a secondary addition. Would be very underwhelming if he was the main get this offseason.2 points

It's not the overall numbers but the progress they make throughout the season. Most prospects take time to adjust to the level. They are there to learn and improve. They do it at individual rates.2 points

The Rickets family is a bunch of neo-nazi Christo-racist scumbags. No POC, LGBTQ, or ally should every be a Cub fan.2 points

I can't wait get another prospect from one of these "flip" trades that will go into the system and no one will ever hear about again.1 point

At some point you just got to start enjoying life and say “fuck it” to some extent.1 point

I try not to watch his AB's - as the predictability of it all is just way too frustrating. I can't wait until he's gone. At least Benetti has eased up on the whole "But his exit velocity says he's so unlucky!" shtick. Alonso pounding the ball on a line or into the ground directly into the shift is the equivalent of wide receiver consistently getting open only to drop the ball 80+% of the time. At a point, it becomes totally irrelevant... and we've blown FAR past that point.1 point

I agree. I think the organizational thought is to not give more than 5 years to pitchers. The Danks contract kind of anchored that consensus.1 point

Not realistic at all. But the Sox are fucking idiots if they're unwilling to pay Cole $150M+. This rotation badly needs an anchor. Cole would be that guy. Shifting Gio, Kopech and Cease down a notch is imperative if they actually want to build a sustained winner over this 2020-2025 window. The Sox could add $80M in payroll next season and still be under league average. Its time to act like they're actually trying. I agree with you that it probably won't happen, but since they saved $250M trying to be cute (just cheap, really) with Machado, its time they actually spend some money and starting filling in the gaps.1 point

Hope so. In 2005 it appeared the Sox could make permanent inroads on the relative sizes of the fanbases but obviously things went another way. It appears the Cubs' window is closing and the Sox' is opening perhaps the next few years can create some new Sox fans.1 point

Cole AND Wood would be ideal. Allows Sox to take it slow with Kopech as well.1 point

Disco Demolition isn’t something to celebrate, especially in a diverse city like Chicago during Pride Month of all months. Disco Demolition was a fearful response to the growing popularity of artist who were either black, hispanic, gay or female. That’s nothing to proud of. It’s rather shameful.1 point

Unpopular opinion: I don't really care if Gio pitches in the All Star Game. It's cool, but being selected is what matters. I kind of would prefer he rest over the break1 point

All 3 of those guys started off horrendous but have started to turn it around recently. While those numbers aren't good they are dramatically better than how they started.1 point

I love Abreu, he’s been a fantastic player and an even better representative of the franchise. I personally believe the money could be better spent elsewhere. I won’t hate it if he’s extended, but will hate it if that’s their big offseason move.1 point
-
Abreu has 52 RBI and 16 HRs. I realize these stats mean nothing nowadays but they should. His production is better than Machado for gosh sakes. I'm a little surprised you think he's only "good for the clubhouse." Thought you were more fair than that.1 point
-
He’s clearly off to a great start in AA, as he seems to be adjusting well. Still have massive concerns about his ability to hit the ball over the head of the outfielders.1 point

I agree with this guy, wiht his emoji, what he says about the original post that started this thread. It seems that we get one of these threads on here every two or three weeks and they're just stupid. I've said it over and over: Abreu is our best player. All-Star starter last year, only all-star. Only White Sox listed as one of top-100 players in the league at start of season (I admit that this list would probably include a couple more now). The original poster said, "It is no secret that he is on the decline." This is so stupid. Abreu seems well on his way to have career best in home runs and RBIs. How is that on a "decline"? It's ridiculous to make that claim. Yes, his batting average is down, but Steve Stone addressed that saying that he's scarificing batting average for power and RBIs, launch angle and all that. He is tied for the league lead for RBIs and you talk like we should just let him go because he's falling apart? It makes no sense. You act like we'll just bring Collins up and he'll do what "declining" Abreu has been doing. Collins with his .262 average and 9 home runs in AAA? Probably the funniest thing he said was that the Sox will just sign J. D. Martinez next year. Have you been following the White Sox organization at all? Could you please return to earth with the rest of us. And what bothers me the most is the people on here agreeing with this yutz.1 point

Seriously, a 29 year old, LH hitting, decently fielding, overpaid right fielder is available from the North Side. If you picked up $50 million of the $86 million he has remaining they'd probably give you him for the equivalent of Alex Call.1 point

Great interview Clinton. Thx for the good content this week. My only nitpick is just watch the background noise - it was fairly distracting at times, but not a dealbreaker. Thanks!1 point
