His ceiling is a consistent top 5 talent in all of baseball. One excerpt since so many people are concerned about his base running value with the lack of steals: "The only players with a higher BsR and wRC+ than Moncada this season are Mike Trout and Christian Yelich" You get more baserunning value from taking extra bases and etc than you do for stealing bags. Also, one other interesting nugget is that Yoan Moncada is the third best hitter in all of baseball when he makes contact.

Moving Anderson to RF is crazy talk. Either he is the SS for this team or you trade him. What makes Tim valuable is his bat at SS and the potential to be a good defender. Having him relearn a completely different position is just bonkers.

Meh. He definitely has too many mental lapses, but he gets to balls most SS can’t even dream of and has an absolute cannon for an arm. He is amazing on pop outs in foul ground. Great on the transfer. Hes not perfect, but he’s still young and can improve and has the talent to do so. Im not moving him to RF for a 30 year old stop gap.

The Abreu hatred is so strange. He's a really good hitter, who has played in a terrible lineup most of his career. I would also like to see what his career numbers look like with some protection. There are much bigger problems on this roster than Jose. Everyone knows he's pretty bad defensively, but he plays first base......

Hate to tell you bro.. but coming in Tim Anderson had a negative dwar raiting. Before tonight.. Tim makes some flashy plays sometimes - but overall he is a poor defensive shortstop.

The Sox definitely need to upgrade defensively at shortstop if they ever intend to be a serious World Series contender.

I agree with your analysis of Jose's strengths and weaknesses. Also, I agree with your take on stats both traditional and new. My grade is B+ and the Sox have bigger things to accomplish this offseason than finding a replacement for Jose.

Then you make terrible decisions. Jose may not be the best player, but he is far from a DFA candidate. This is ridiculous. Oh, and while he isn't the best player, he is probably the best hitter on this team, and has been for years, you could make an argument for Moncada, but it isn't clear cut. And pretty much everyone else is clearly behind him.

If “discounted price”, “bounce back”, “resigning for cheap”, “low OBP” or “always injured” are used by Hahn relative to any FA targets this winter he should be fired. The time for that crap has passed.

Just scouting the line score, there have been a lot of line outs. I still question his wood bat power, but I'm not worried about his ability to hit for average and a ton of doubles.
