This team quit after the 10 game losing streak back in April. Grifol lost the team at that point. Getz could talk to me until I’m blue in the face and tell me that Grifol is the right guy to manage the Sox and he will get one hell of a fight from me and probably 99% of Sox fans. The man doesn’t have a clue and has no business managing a MLB team.8 points

Brother - I am simply fucking with you. Pedro is the biggest embarrassment of the season and that’s really saying something. Getz retaining him is a major red flag to his credibility.4 points

9-17 for a 100 loss season. But the new GM is bringing back Grifol. Makes sense.3 points

Trading Burger was nuts. I have yet to meet any White Sox fan who liked him being moved. He filled the hole of third base for the team. We're now stuck with Moncada for another year. Burger has already hit 28 home runs this year. Moncada won't hit 28 home runs the rest of his career. I was hoping that Burger would be the starting third baseman and Moncada would be released. The Cubs released Jason Heyward this past off season and ate his last year of his big contract. The White Sox should of done the same thing with Moncada. It said in todays paper that Moncada wants to stay here next year. Unfortunately we are stuck with him for another year. He has no power anymore. I have no doubt in my mind that 2024 will be the last year of Moncada in MLB. We received a sore arm pitcher for Burger. Hopefully that pitcher will help the team next year. Hahn traded Tatis Jr, Madrigal and now Burger. Three good hitters and has received nothing in return for them. This team has scored 3 or less runs in more than half of their games. It has trouble hitting and scoring runs. If Hahn hadn't trade these 3 players we would be scoring more runs. Hahn was either baseball stupid or wanted to hurt the team intentionally. Him being a lifelong Cubs fan, I wouldn't of put it past him.3 points

Typical Bruce defending Jerry for being out on Ohtani and not signing players to over 100m. Saying spending like that doesn't help you win. Said how the past couple years that fingers have been pointed at the coaches and now upper management, when they should have been pointed at the players. Apparently we haven't been blaming the players enough? The poor front office, being blamed for putting together this awful team. What a piece of s%*#.3 points

Maybe the roster sucks, and the manager sucks, and the dopes that built the roster suck, and the new guy sucks, and the owner too…2 points

He's the one responsible for the overall approach. The team identity. He's the one responsible for holding players accountable. Establishing the culture and work ethic. Putting players in the best position to succeed. I call bullshit. He's a terrible manager, and I bet he's out of managing in the MLB as soon as he's fired by the Sox. Edit: Asking a White Sox fan to "be a bit more patient" is fucking hilarious. We have been patient with this disgraceful organization for almost 20 years. They can shove patience up their ass.2 points

Pedro didn’t build the roster though. And he’s not up there swinging the bat or throwing the pitches. He’s been telling the players exactly what they should be doing…it’s not his fault they don’t listen. Once we trade for Salvy, Pedro will have his enforcer in the clubhouse and players won’t have a choice but listen or risk a verbal beat-down from Salvy. Just need to be a bit more patient here brother.2 points

He's a symptom of the disease. I don't give a s%*# that he's a first year manager. He was hired to manage a supposed CONTENDER. I also don't give a s%*# that he might figure it out in a few seasons. It's just more prototypical White Sox BULLSHIT. He never should have been hired. You also don't need a few seasons to see he has no leadership ability, and none of the players respect him. NOTHING has changed for the positive with this team since he was hired. He has only gotten worse. I'm glad Detroit is embarrassing them. They deserve it.2 points
-
It’s not Grifol fault…he’s a first year manager. Give him a few seasons to figure this s%*# out. If we’re still losing a 100 games a season come 2025, then maybe you let him go. Until then everybody should get wayyyyyyyyyyy off his back.2 points

Just checked the score. It's a good thing Pedro's job is safe. He's truly changing the culture and getting the best out of everyone.2 points

Stop. The first organization to have a Black manager and general manager at the same time (Manuel and Williams) is not opposed to diversity. There are so many things to be upset over, this is not one of them. I get that had they done it, an actual search would be required rather than internal garbage, I get that. But Jerry has always prided himself on diversity and rightfully so. It's okay though, because now they'll be forced to take on a diverse hire for another leadership role whether they deserve it or not.2 points

JR pretty much said as much in his press conference when he said they were going to start policing players' offseason plans instead of just taking their word for it. To me, that is a not-so-subtle way of saying at least some of these guys aren't doing what they should be doing to prepare themselves for the season.2 points

While the Sox were making changes - FutureSox.com has also made a change, returning to its independent roots after an 18 month partnership with SoxMachine. While we appreciated the partnership we had with SoxMachine and the whole team there, I am personally excited for FutureSox's return as a true independent, with Mike Rankin, James Fox and the rest of the amazing cast and characters (Steve Hasman (aka Sleepy Harold), Ken Sawilchik, Jeff Cohen, Julie Brady, Elijah Evans, Jasper Roos, Jeff Feverer, Jason Lowenthal, Rob Young, and Dan Santaromita (aka one of the original godfater(s) of FutureSox) continuing to do what they do best - delivering the absolute BEST White Sox focused minor league content on the planet. And one ask, this whole crew puts a ton of blood, sweat and tears into producing this content, so for anyone willing and able, who loves the great content FutureSox has been providing for 20+ years now, please support their efforts through its Patreon site. Excited to see the continued growth of the franchise, brand, and the quality and insights the entire team delivers to Sox fans everywhere (no matter how sad all of us are at the current state of the franchise). Note: I also personally apologize, because as the superstitious individual I am, I can't help but notice a correlation to the White Sox performance during that timeframe1 point

It wasn't a mistake huh?? OK. Let's look back at the full chain of events. So Jerry boy wants to claim that since we won the division in 2021 that the LaRussa rehiring made sense. OK, why did we win in 2021? Here's why. We won the division that year because for the first half of the season, Rodon and Lynn were at the very least 2 of the top 4 starters in the AL. This despite Robert and Jimenez being out the whole first half. So the attitude then was, "gee if we're this good now, just think how good we'll be when they come back!!" Well now the LaRussa affect came in to play. Partly because no one was good enough to make a run at us, he treated the entire second half of the year like one long spring training by putting "C" team lineups out there, giving all the regulars constant days off, especially during the last games of series's. He continued this stupid trend into 2022. Except we didn't have a 12 game lead to sit back on while doing this. He never would have done this in 1983. He never put out a lineup with Fisk, Baines, Luzinski and Kittle all not in it. But he did now. He defended this by saying he wanted to keep his players "fresh." Again, he never did this before. In St.Louis, Albert Pujols missed a total of 3 games in 2 years. How was THAT keeping him fresh?? He managed like a tired, old man. Which is what he is. Therefore, we played like a tired, old team. Except we weren't old. So that just created a lazy attitude and atmosphere around this team. For God's sake, he even publicly said "don't run out ground balls too hard so you won't get hurt!!!!" Can you imagine a manager telling his team not to play hard??? OK. So now LaRussa's gone. We needed to change that laissez Faire attitude with a kick in the a## type manager. We did that before. When the corpse like Manuel was fired after 2003, we brought in Guillen to be that way. But instead after LaRussa and his laissez faire ways did we bring in a manager to change that? No. We bring in Grifol. Now maybe, to be fair, Grifol may turn out to be a decent manager some day. Not saying he will, just giving the benefit of the doubt. But he wasn't the right man for this job. We needed a Billy Martin or Dick Williams type to kick this team in the a## and change this Laissez Faire way. He didn't. Instead he's cemented it. So it's not the slightest bit surprising to hear Middleton tell stories of pitchers falling asleep in the bullpen and no discipline. Now a lot's gone horribly wrong the last few years. From injuries, to players underperforming, to Reinsdorf's cheapness, to Hahn's incompetence.....There's a lot of blame to go around. But bringing LaRussa back has been a major part of it. And so for idiot Jerry boy to defend the rehiring of his old buddy LaRussa. That's flat out stupid. And can't be disputed. So I ask Jerry boy again. Why was it right to bring LaRussa back?????1 point

I like Lee behind the plate. He's quiet and sits low w/good lateral movement. He has strong hands and receives the ball real nice. I'm sure pitchers love throwing to him because of this. He's got a strong arm but he's not accurate enough. All in all it's pretty good but he has some things he needs to clean up.1 point

I’m so bummed out that Grifol and probably all the coaches will still be with us, this is just plain unacceptable and I’ve had just about all I can take with the franchise.1 point

As much as I disliked RR he may have been a good fit for the time and possibly got better as a manager. Tony not so. Odd for a HOF manager to walk a player with 1-2 count. You'd think some of the things he did was from dimentia. Maybe the Yermin incident did more harm than thought. I don;t ever recall a manger ever doing that.1 point

I am 65. Lifelong Sox fan. I'm as pissed off about this season and this GM hire as anyone. But you don't just stop being a fan of a team you have loved your whole life. I will give Getz a chance to show who he is and what he can do. But there better be noticeable positive changes very quickly.1 point
