  1. Nice call, dumb ass. I get 'em wrong plenty, but this was an all-time miss. Houser has looked really good, and not smoke and mirrors either.

  2. If we are talking about a mere year into the future, I am pouring millions into turning White Sox operations into the developement envy of the league. Poach the best minds in scouting, developement, data, etc. Whatever it takes. I leave FA alone for the most part until there is a homegrown foundation in place.

  3. I love reading through game threads at work without knowing the score and trying to determine what is happening.

  4. Let's be honest, they pretty much need everything, except maybe Catcher.

  5. They're picking in a weird. It just depends on the craziness in front of them. None of these players are worth the slot values so teams will be deal hunting early. He didn't. Best player on the board though.

  6. 100% here. See what Mike Rizzo wants for starters.

  7. last year after 93 games 26-67, this year 31-62. Also last year on July 10th was the start of the 21 game losing streak. I doubt they do that again this year

  8. It seems that Venable likes the "high leverage reliever" concept. Taylor faced the more difficult part of the order. Last time they tried to have him do multiple innings it didn't go so well.

  9. I really hope he is the next dude in the booth, and hopefully really soon.

  10. They aren't going to say anything publicly until a deal is done. Good businessmen don't negotiate in public.

  11. where are they gonna get that?

  12. 20K to 2 BB in 9.2 innings over his last 2 starts

  13. I hope that the Sox sign Houser on a one or two year deal. He is the clear Ace of the staff now and should be next season. He has only gotten better and is fastball is even up 2mph. Trading him when he only he has a few months of control will draw interest from the top contending teams, but ,,,,they may not value him as much as teams would next season if he is under contract and the Sox could also decide to keep him if he keeps dealing. If the Sox want to stop losing a record number of games, start by spending money on this pitcher.

  14. We continue to create our own problems.

  15. There's an easy and obvious solution, but these dumbasses would rather one of their two most promising prospects sit every night. s%*# like this is why I just can't take Getz & Co. seriously.

  16. It seems pretty easy to bring up Lee, who can provide pop you need anyway, and have him on the team with Lee and Quero.

  17. I was very indifferent to this signing and he has been a revelation. It’s crazy that Maddux couldn’t get this out of him in Texas but clearly he found something here that works for him. edit: my bad I thought he played in Texas last year. Mets and Brewers couldn’t get this out of him

  18. It's a great man who can admit his mistakes.....Me, I still think Steele Walker is gonna be a stud RF!!!

  19. And past history has shown that most people who leave here continue to be just as bad.
    2 points
  20. Yeah that isn't correct. They were 26-67 at this time last year, and lost for like 3 straight weeks going forward.
    2 points
  21. It's really not. He's facing left handed pitching and Bauers RH. Vaughn could always hold his own against lefties.

  22. A season split where they won the road series and lost the home series is surprising given the splits for the Sox this season, but I'll take it.

  23. Not bad by Leasure. For where this team is, I'll take winning 1 of 3 from the hottest team in baseball and ending their winning streak. Would've been nice to score more than 7 runs in 3 games, but that's a lot of pitchers with ERAs in the 2s and 3s to face in a series.

  24. Why doesn’t Venable have our guys guarding the lines with leads late in games?
    2 points
  25. It was much more fun when there was a chance they would win the game in the end and the games actually meant something so there were 15 pages of Fathom going off just to find them up 5-3 in B8. Let's get something straight Fathom was not wrong but there was some good mixed in there.

  26. We need everything. You have to draft best player available......if that's a pitcher then you take the pitcher. You can never have enough pitching.

  27. The Reinsdorf era can't end soon enough for me. At least he might be doing one good thing for this franchise on his way out in getting a local, deep-pocketed billionaire lined up to be the next owner.

  28. Imo Meidroths ceiling is a utility infielder while Sosa has a much higher offensive ceiling at 2B and hopefully his defense improves

  29. Local product/ACE alum could be worth a look in later rounds. Merk highlighted him in a recent newsletter.

  30. Was wondering if you were referring to Reinsdorf

  31. I truly do think he's the number 1 change of scenery candidate of all the guys that busted out over the past few years. If I were A GM, Robert would be an awesome wildcard to acquire because he could flat out carry.
    2 points
  32. I still think that they should make a first basemen out of Teel, make Quero the primary catcher with Lee as the backup. BTW, Quero is in today’s lineup.
    2 points
  33. I was listening to the Score yesterday and they mentioned Venable mentioned that he’s using them as a platoon? Just dumb. (yes, I know Quero is in lineup today but they both should be)

  34. Dude, Message board opinions are just that, opinions. You get so worked up on this site about what other people think and that’s like 90 percent of your arguments. “Group opinion” lmao, you love to just put everyone in a blob against you. Chicago White Sox can say what he wants I’m not sure why you feel like it feeds into some actual weighted opinion that will affect the trade. i listen to Jon Heyman when he calls into the score (🤮) and he keeps talking about how little value Robert has and how the Sox will have to be creative to move him. Is his opinion not national? I don’t give a s%*# what he thinks but it’s the truth, we all know Robert is CAPABLE of being better but he is not playing good, or even mediocre, and any return for him will be most likely disappointing considering the talent in Robert
    2 points
  35. To be clear, Robert has been a major disappointment and stinks. A 108 wRC+ as a CF with + defense and base running is a 4 WAR player. Far from sucking. That doesn't change the fact that he's a lost player now who is in between and looking like he'll never come out of it.

  36. He does look like he's mailing it in. Beni, not God.

  37. The "not being on the White Sox" effect is likely to help him way more.
    2 points
  38. I disagree. He knows how bad this team is and yet he still takes his kids to Sox games. It’s his own twisted form of punishment when his kids don’t get straight A’s or eat all of their vegetables.
    2 points
  39. Those have to be his major league stats. Future Sox podcast today was talking about how he's still murdering the ball as much as ever. Edit: yeah BR has him at 1.500 OPS in the last week and .946 OPS last month. Still sitting at a 35% k rate over the last month though so that hasn't changed.

  40. I think they'd take Steele Hall in this scenario.

  41. If you would look at his last 30/last 15/Last 7 days on his MILB page, you would not be led to believe that he figured things out

  42. I wish Robert jr. had as much trade interest as Byron Buxton.
    1 point
  43. Lol…let’s just completely ignore position, defense, and handedness. If you think a 108 wRC+ against same side pitching is somehow mediocre for a gold glove caliber CF then you’re either being purposely ignorant or complaining just to complain. As for the “why exclude his current season”, his current season against RHP is a massive outlier and he’s been productive against them historically. If you are an opposing GM looking at acquiring him, you have to decide if this is a start of a new trend or a one-time blurb that can be fixed. Packaging it all together and saying “see he’s always been bat against RHP” is both untrue and lazy analysis.

  44. Kudos to fathom. He has posted a long time and yet never offends anybody or acts like a know it all. Some of us have poster flaws on occasion. Fathom is an MVP poster IMO.

  45. I don’t think they’re interested in Bremner. He doesn’t get any extension. Not their type. For any player who submitted medicals, teams have to go 75% of slot value. Sox slot is $6.2 million. They could do Schoolcraft for like $4.5ish million but that’s the lowest. He’s not in their mix at 10 according to the scouting director. I have no idea what Bauer’s number is.

  46. Getz clearly has no idea how to identify offensive talent. This is what happens when you hire from within when the offense is already failing.

  47. Bring back Plesac. He pretended to care about the product on the field.

  48. And 1/2 of the starting 10 for this rebuilding team is 30 or over. It's ridiculous. They just aren't serious.

  49. I right there with you on those guys also, good riddance.
