Bananas are one of the better things going for baseball, pro or otherwise. I don't agree at all with the "get off my lawn" types. The Harlem Globetrotters never claimed to be the 91-92 Bulls but they sure as hell helped spread basketball.6 points

nice a .420 winning percentage across 162 games, if you round up, is 69 wins. just saying.4 points

Average: 30th OBP: 29th Slugging: 29th OPS: 29th Reminder, there are only 30 teams in the league. So no, the lineup isn't good Greg.4 points

The Sox should be in the business of trading 30something relievers for 18 year olds, and not the flip side.4 points

The Cease trade deserves criticism. People ripping the Sox or Getz over Vaughn being traded and then magically being good is revisionist history at its finest. The dude sucked for years with us, every single poster here wanted him gone, and it’s almost all but a certainty he wasn’t willing to change with us. People ripping Fuller when there is empirical evidence of Fuller driving meaningful change in getting guys to lift and pull is the cherry on top. Also, not sure what people expected to get for a bad, one-dimensional, RH 1B who could only put up a 78 wRC+ after being demoted to AAA. Civale isn’t good, but they got him to eat innings done the stretch which was a better use of salary than the s%*# production they were getting from Andrew.3 points

If I got tickets to this for $40 bucks a pop, as cool as it is, I’m selling them for 10 times as much if I can and watching it on an ESPN2 stream. 🤣3 points

A few days ago it was .420 ball since May 1st.... I guarantee if guys get shut down for innings and etc at end of the year and they finish similar to how they started in April, we'll be hearing how "when they played their guys, they were actually a 65 win team" and that "the end of the season should be thrown away." You are what your record says. They're on pace to lose 103 games. Will be the 4th time in 55 years that they've lost 100+ games, and twice were under Captain Getz.3 points

Jang wasn't signing with the Sox whether they traded pool money or not. I have no idea why a random player was even brought up there other than caulfielding.3 points

He's doing it at the expense of the long-term. He's got Taylor and Rojas on this team for no reason at all. Pushing players out to make room for Martin Perez? What the heck?? Trade Robert? When? The best Robert has played in the last 2 seasons were the 4 weeks leading up to the trade deadline. Getz' demand of a starting position player from a contender was patently ridiculous; Okay, they wanted to do Tauchman a solid - fine - but his value will never be as high as it was in July. Getz refused to trade Civale. He trades Houser for a declining prospect who has no real upside. Up until the deadline, Getz was a flawed GM, but it looked like he had a plan and was trying. But now, it looks like his goal is to bring a 70 win team to Chicago. A dog and pony show2 points

Most people didn’t like the Mena trade at the time and were even more pissed off when his velocity was higher then anticipated2 points

Which almost no scout agreed was his long term position. Watch Mason Winn and compare how many outside he register on arm strength alone. Meidroth is serviceable there.2 points

Huh? How do you know this? Are we just making stuff up to defend Getz now? A better player would have provided more hope for the clubhouse than crappy Little Nicky.2 points

Say you’re running your own business. You hire someone and invest heavy resources into the new hire, and they’ve been recommended to you by others in your company. They are a total disappointment. There is no development, they aren’t getting better, failing at their job. You eventually fire that person, they go to work for a competitor, and later learn they’re having tremendous success at this competitor. Two things stand out to me: 1. You’ve most likely made your organization better because at the end of the day said employee was not producing for you, and you can replace that person with someone who is much more productive 2. I would question my own organization that this person couldn’t find success with my company, but came highly recommended and is finding success with my competitor. Why couldn’t we get the same kind of production? Both things can be true, but simply throwing roses at the Sox because Andrew Vaughn sucked for them is naive2 points

we all knew Vaughn had to go, but it still plays into the national perception that the Sox are a terrible organization2 points

Every fan base besides didn’t watch the dude suck for 2,400+ PA’s with us and is clinging to a high 1st pedigree that was really never warranted with hindsight. The reality is Fuller has done some nice work this year at the major league level. This is the first time in years I can see meaningful change in approaches across multiple players and where guys come up and actually have some semblance of a plan of attack. Andrew Vaughn was rumored to be stubborn and anti analytics. I don’t buy for a second that he’s suddenly Barry Bonds, but if he is, then maybe we should point the finger at the player himself. Dude was given endless opportunities and was pure garbage for most of his tenure. Honestly, dude can go f*** himself for not even finding a way to be respectable bad when he was here.2 points

Random aside but this heater the Brewers are on is legendary. Down 8-1 after 2 and now in the lead in the 6th. They keep it up and tonight will be 13 in a row.2 points

They should definitely travel and play at all the empty stadiums during the 2027 lockout. We'll only have that and MiLB (minus 40-man guys).2 points

I truly wish there was a question mark reaction, because the only person in our interactions that starts belittling and name calling is you. Also, what do the Sox do well that I'm supposed to be angry about?2 points

Nah, I know PCA turns off a lot of people with his show, but we'd be jerking him off if he was a White Sox.2 points

I'm telling you, setting the bar as low as Getz did last year has genuinely helped him with some fans. Anchoring works, as has been proven time and time again, and Getz anchored himself to the worst record in baseball history at the time. I heard an interview with Thorpe a few days ago and they asked him... "how is the locker room and how are the guys this year" and he talked about how much better it is in there and how they're so much better than last year. This is the second worst team in baseball 😂 Jerry has found his dream match in Getz. He used to think he had to do well enough to finish in 2nd place and keep the fanbase engaged. Now he realizes he can just be so bad that any semblance of competency will lead to some fans endlessly talking about a bright future.2 points

So sox went with an arm in round 1 because Fuller wasnt here so it was safer but the lack of fuller didn't scare them because they took bats 4 of 6. Also, drafting an arm is never safer than drafting bat. Thats called talking out of both sides of your mouth, which happens when you spend so much time making excuses for bad decisions.2 points

Sox got Aldrin Batista in that trade. I would do that every day and twice on Sunday.2 points

We've been trending a lot better without Vaughn, Amaya, Palacios, Capra, etc. Obviously small sample size but last 30 days: Average: 6th OBP: 15th Slugging: 4th OPS: 4th Gives me the slightest glimmer of hope cause this is with 6+ guys who will most likely be in lineup next year. I'm not sure if they can keep that up but i'll definitely be interested to see 1st half vs. 2nd half comparisons after the season.2 points

The top take away should clearly be that you can never have enough prospect strength. Teams that are almost always near the top of the ranks go aggressively EVERYWHERE. US, Latin America, Asia, etc. Leave no stone unturned. There is no so such thing as "too much" when it comes to the minor leagues.2 points

Hope you're doing well now, Eddy. The Ron Gant bit is interesting. ATL cut him and paid him 0 dollars of the $4.5mil remaining on his deal. He missed a season then went on to produce ~15 WAR the rest of his career, 6.5 the following two years after the injury. Not like Atlanta needed him, they won the WS, but he doubled up the production of the guy who replaced him (Klesko). Probably could've used the production in 1996 over rookie Jermaine Dye who OPS'd under .300 in the World Series and was traded anyway. Reminds me of the Bulls second overall pick in 2002, Jay Williams, who got hurt almost exactly the same way after a lackluster rookie season (really lousy draft in hindsight). The Bulls cut him for violating his contract and because they needed the roster spot, but still paid him ~$3mil, roughly half of his remaining salary, and he never played in the NBA again. The buyout was finalized in January 2004; did the good karma result in a White Sox World Series win in 2005? The bad karma clearly didn't hurt the Braves. The contract stipulations make sense when you're being paid millions of dollars to play with a ball, but the human element seems important; it's more than a game n all that and sometimes 22-year-olds make stupid decisions. The Braves as an organization probably would've benefited on the field if they had just kept Gant too. Probably one of my favorite things things the Bulls/Sox have done. Not really related to this discussion at all. 5th rounder Antonacci looks really good. Adams is obviously legit. Hagen is still probably the most 'legit', but underwhelming. Most of the guys slumming it there are selections from the previous regime or otherwise players you don't expect anything out of. I thought Veras, Tatum or Gladney would see MLB time before Elko, but they all fell off a cliff and were never very good or touted to begin with. At A+, Zavala has looked better, Jeral Perez seems pretty good. Oppor and Ziehl should earn a promotion. A and Rookie league seem to have some actual blue chip talent. Bonemer has made himself into a top tier prospect, Blake Larson is an intriguing prospect. Don't sleep on Shane Murphy. All of these guys and more pass the vibe check and, as we all know, the sport is 90% vibes. This team is clearly less doomed than it was in 2022 in terms of a potential future The real test will be if the org can get the most out Carlson's potential 5-tool kit or if he's the Christian Pache of shortstops. It bears repeating that many on this board figured Crochet couldn't be a starter (he never threw more than 50 innings!!!), but somehow the non-starter returned two top 50 prospects (one will be a superstar), another guy who clearly belongs in MLB, and a fourth player who will probably be an MLB player. Being so incredibly wrong about Crochet and Colson causes me to doubt the talent evaluation of some around these parts. Being a pessimist and also being wrong is an interesting combination. Couldn't be me. I would also just totally ignore MLB.com's system rankings. Nobody actually believes the Dodgers have the best farm system, right? It's marketing BS.2 points

Payroll is certainly a factor but then again Miami is on pace for 19 more wins than the Sox with a lower payroll.2 points

Our everyday lineup is good and full of potential. Our pitching reeks. Not Getz's fault. No $$s. I think this season he grades A-minus. Jerry grades F2 points

The 3 most recently posted threads on this forum all go back to the same thing - Chris Getz hasn't been very good at his jobs in the Sox organization. Wake me up when we have a new owner who hires people based on merit instead of loyalty. I'll set my alarm clock for 2029.2 points
