  1. I’ve been quiet on this for the most part, but as a Sox fan, there are only two things I care about with the stadium: Will it keep the team in Chicagoland area Will it help raise payroll to make team more competitive
  2. This is on Venable though. Had he pulled Kay when he was struggling in the 5th before that 3 run home run, Sox would most probably have won this game. You're not gonna score 7 runs every game, putting up 3 in the first and managing Kay whom we all know runs into disastrous innings, had he pulled him before he completely imploded in the 5th, the Sox would have won tonight. The bullpen only gave up 1 more run, Kay gave up 5... that's unacceptable considering the bullpen isn't shot. Tomorrow you can throw out Urquidy to give you 3 or 4 innings but at least winning tonight would be taking 2/3 and trying to sweep instead we probably lose 2 of 3 vs an average Twins team. Venable sucks at in game managing. We all saw Kay was throwing trash in the 5th FFS after already struggling the inning before giving up 2 runs.
  3. Yeah I'm for a dome only if it's a retractable roof..
  4. How can you credibly say that a view of the skyline “means nothing to Chicagoans”? It means a lot to this Chicagoan, and many other Chicagoans who are my friends and neighbors. By the way, are you currently a Chicagoan?
  5. If they do it like Seattle to where it slides and you still have a little opening maybe, but I'd still prefer just open air, if it rains it rains.
  6. I lived in Bridgeport and love the neighborhood, but the fact is that the teams been there for a hundred years and there’s f*** all to do after a game or before a game.
  7. The design looks terrific, hope he can get it done.
  8. Yup, and Ishbia is going to finance the bulk of it himself. The Sox aren’t staying at the current location, so while I feel bad for Bridgeport residents, this day was always coming. At least now, the new stadium will remain in Chicago, at a better location to attract casuals & out of towners, and will be an absolute stunner.
  9. Burke pushed back a game. I bet this is done to set up the Guardians series.
  10. How about you go f*** off bro. This would be an incredible outcome for Sox fans and the city of Chicago and yet you continue to make ridiculously stupid statements like”Ishbia doesn’t know where Sox fans live” in a desperate attempt to discredit his vision.
  11. Looking at these proposed photos/maps this would be a great thing for the franchise AND the City of Chicago. With many businesses fleeing the city you have someone willing to develop millions of dollars into the city. This stadium could also have a positive impact on State Street, it would bring more people downtown.
  12. Here's some more rendering pics for those that aren't Crains subscribers.
  13. It doesn’t matter if it’s true, you always want more access to possible fans, not less because of perceived fandom percentage
  14. Fedde has a 1.04 ERA in 5 starts vs. MIN as a Sox (2024 and 2026). 26 IP, 3 ER, 24 Ks to 7 BB, and a 4-0 record. He's held them to a .416 OPS this season. Solid 3.00 ERA overall since June, that's some quality innings for a value price.
  15. You aren't going to win a lot of games giving up 6 runs
  16. Every time Teel has been with the club every swing is an attempt to make up for lost time. He needs to relax and let his timing take shape.
  17. This is legit the single dumbest post I have ever read in my 25+ years on this website. Nowhere in your incoherent rambling did you ever utter something that could be considered rational thought. I award you no points and may god have mercy on your soul.
  18. Looked to see how pissed off Tray would be and it didn't disappoint.
  19. The renderings are just a VERY vague idea of what is being proposed...that is all! Hell...there is a set of lights directly behind home plate! That isn't happening! The story is WHERE Mr Ishbia is planning to build...and what he planning to build! Critiquing the renderings is a waste of time at the moment...the vision is there...it is going to happen...and it is going to be spectacular!
  20. Would literally be second best thing to ever happen to the franchise in our lifetime. First being letting Benetti go, of course
  21. Here are some noteworthy items from the Crain's article. Some were already mentioned above. The full project site covers more than 80 acres. Ishbia paid $20M earlier this year in separate transactions for sites at the NE corner of 18th and Canal. Ishbia has told people he would privately finance a new stadium. Tentative plans include a new Metra station Ishbia met with the Mayor yesterday to discuss his plan. Note that Ishbia is careful to be aware that he does not yet own the Sox: "If feasible, this plan could be presented to Chicago White Sox leadership for consideration as one of the team’s ballpark options when its current lease in the state-owned ballpark ends."
  22. It's just the ramblings of a mad man. He doesn't speak for anyone but himself.
  23. Mune is going to have a multi homer game tonight!
  24. That is going to be so sick. Will be tremendous for the franchise.
  25. Anyway long live private equity. Long live real estate.
  26. He would have been better than TLR. That’s for sure.
  27. And I'm not going to karaoke until 11pm
  28. I hate to say it but out of our big bats, Mune is the least one I want to see, strikes out waaay too much. At least put the ball in play, good things could happen...a strike out if the worst outcome.
  29. The "Railyards" stadium as depicted is substandard, even in terms of an open-air stadium. The RF dimension is substantially limited by the distance between BNSF railroad tracks and the canal. The CF scoreboard is minimized to a great degree, apparently in order to preserve a view of the high rise buildings in the loop. What a joke. In short, the rail yards concept was limited to fit on land that Ishbia has an option to purchase... and that just isn't right. Why limit a stadium to fit on land he can acquire? Further, that option is contingent on approval by the City of moving a 60 acre railroad yard (in size, think about 60 football fields) to the parking lots of Rate field. That is insanity. The Reinsdorfs should have made (and if possible. still should make) the prospective purchase of the White Sox franchise contingent on purchasing Rate Field and the surrounding land from the ISFA (IL tax payers). That would benefit the public (taxpayers) and changed the dynamic from what is happening now - a billionaire not caring one iota about the South side home of the White Sox, and, to add an insulting blow, desecrating the area forever with a massive rail road yard. And all for what? A billionaire to build a substandard stadium on a tract he has an option to purchase? The Amtrak and BNSF rail yards were placed where they are for good reasons, and they should remain there, not be relocated to the neighborhoods of Chicago. This guy has gone too far with this. Hopefully Sox ownership, the City of Chicago, the ISFA ..should stop him in his tracks.
  30. I would have voted Hell Yes, but it wasn't an option. Good vibes for the future, love it.
  31. Rumor has it that 14th St is only about 2 miles north of 35th St and is still south of Madison St.
  32. Sox can't hope and pray Cleveland loses. Just got to win and put it away themselves. Just win baby!
  33. Thanks for the poll. Are you able to add an option to vote for a retractable roof as opposed to a dome?
  34. Sounds like it’s very possible that shovels will be in the ground around this time next year. Bridgeport can fight the new Amtrak maintenance building all they want, but the eminent domain powers of the railroad will push it to reality no matter what. The new stadium and surrounding entertainment area will bring a huge boost to the future of the Sox. I can’t wait to be able to take my son to a game there. Very exciting times for the franchise and fans.
  35. When it first opened, it was way worse. I hate to give credit to JR but the make over starting in 2003 improved the place immensely.
  36. I made a quick edit of Ishbia’s proposed plan overlaid on a current satellite view of the area (to scale). Honestly, I don’t think tailgating will be lost. As 77 Hitmen pointed out, the area northeast of 18th and Canal St. is full of empty lots. Additionally, the area between Lumber St. and the river was left unchanged. Notice, just north of it, the winding road that leads to nowhere. I’m thinking that road actually goes under the railroad bridges and leads to Lumber St. Although it could just as easily be turned into a riverside park (such as Ping Tom Park, which is right across the river from it), as of now, that whole area has the potential to be used for parking.
  37. The Sox entrance to the upper deck was the issue. If the entrance was in the middle of the upper deck and you walked up or walked down to your aisle would have solved the problem. Nobody complains about Dodger Stadium.
  38. The Sox are in the playoff hunt right now. There is no guarantee that the Sox will be in this same position next season. That’s why the trade already looks terrible. Also, Castillo is only here for one more expensive year. There’s no way to shine this turd of a trade.
  39. How the hell do you know what Ishbia does or doesn’t understand or is/isn’t seeking to do? Do you have some insight or insider access that the rest of us don’t have?
  40. The McDonald's Park development includes a 1200-space parking garage and (for now) a surface lot just south of the stadium. I see no reason why that parking wouldn't be available for a Sox stadium since they can easily make sure the scheduling is such that there isn't a Fire and Sox game at the same time. The renderings released today didn't provide details of what all those structures would be aside from one building that says Northwestern Medicine on it, but there should be plenty of room to include more parking structures as part of such a massive development. And then there's this item from the Crain's article: "Ishbia has also recently acquired properties adjacent to the railyard sites. Public records show ventures he leads paid $20 million in separate transactions earlier this year for development sites at the northeast corner of Canal and 18th Streets, which are not shown in images of The Railyards." Could this be available for a surface lot that could accommodate tailgating? That's just pure speculation on my part. Here's the land on a map:
  41. from the Crain's article: "It’s unclear if the project would call for public financial support for infrastructure, though tentative plans include a new Metra station, according to an Ishbia spokeswoman." I'll also note that, while the BNSF is the main Metra line running through those tracks, the Metra SWS (to Orland Park/New Lenox/Frankfort) and Heritage Corridor (to Joliet) lines also use those tracks heading into Union Station's south platforms.
  42. I know it is a blue sky rendering, but I love it. They seem to have learned from history
  43. https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2026/09/05/new-sox-park-future-owner-announces-proposal-for-riverside-stadium-at-the-railyards
  44. If Castillo starts 5 more games, Sox will finish behind Cleveland.
  45. Don’t worry. Once all of Getz’s great deadline trades pan out, the Sox will hit whatever win total WestEddy changes his prediction to.
