  1. Honestly I think you should just say that you don't accept an apology or statement from him because he is involved in a cheating scandal(whether peripherally or intimately) and leave it at that. There will never be a punishment levied that will satisfy you, you weren't satisfied with Melkys apology or any other players and you don't like cheating or gaming the system. And that's fine. but trying to twist it that everyone accepts and approves of Keuchels supposed cheating is not getting anywhere. Nobody here approves of cheating and nobody wants the Sox to cheat, signing Keuchel and being excited for the signing doesn't mean that we approve.

  3. I can't believe a scandal involing the Astros has somehow in some way spun into a negative against the Sox. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised by this with some of our posters.

  5. Can't wait for the follow up in a few days when he clears waivers and ends up in Charlotte 😂

  6. There's a 99% chance he would be told to shut the fuck up and go pitch. And again, for the 9000th time, we have no idea who spoke up against it internally.

  7. Thanks for that awesome game in Boston where you out dueled our old friend, Chris Sale. If he clears waivers and ends up in Charlotte, fine. If not, good luck to you sir.

  8. Again, what is constantly hounding him about it because he has a bad April era going to do? Gonna make you feel better? Ok great. You are happy because he keeps getting asked about it. Then he stops doing interviews and it goes away that way. Either way, no reporter is going to ask him every interview about it just because fans are mad that MLB didn't punish the players.

  9. Some people say if you aren't cheating , you're not trying. I'll bet they all voted for Trump. I think i'll keep my self respect instead.

  13. Except Castellanos can't play defense. Donaldson can. Twins are getting value with his bat and on defense.

  14. I would LOVE to see the Sox counter this by getting Castellanos.

  16. Morosi on MLB Tonight threw out the Sox as a possible suitor and dropped Moncada as a guy that could interest the Rockies. I’m not a big Morosi fan, so take it with a grain of salt.

  18. Moving away from Keuchel for a bit, is there a shadier person in baseball than Luhnow? His tenure in Houston: -accused of stealing Cardinals data on his way out to Houston -allowed cheating scandal that would end up being his legacy -traded for domestic abuser while he was still under investigation -handled the sexist actions of his staff by attempting to sweep it under the rug -gets suspended and fired for cheating before throwing players and employees under the bus Seriously what a piece of shit, what else am I missing?

  20. Melky had two seasons in Toronto after he was busted with PEDs and they were pretty good, and tbh his seasons with the Sox were pretty in line with his career outside of his Sf season

  21. Balta, I'm going to break some very sad news to you based on how you view people who "cheat" in baseball. Since the beginning of time, a vast majority of players have participated in some form of cheating. The game has been defined by players searching for questionably minute edges that fall within the gray area of legality. Pitchers used to use spit, batters used greenies. Some players corked their bats, while others put a substance on their hat to get a better grip on the baseball. Some players went on to use steroids, while others used video technology to steal signs. One team stole data from another, while another lied about how much they were paying players so they could acquire more of them. The Braves weren't alone in that either as it was a widely known way of skirting the international rules. Some teams even went as far as to pay agents to smuggle players and then give them the upper hand in signing them - using force in SOME cases. Every single era of baseball has had some form of cheating/one-upping to gain a competitive edge. If you told me as a senior in college that if I took steroids, I would have been a guaranteed big leaguer - supporting my family for generations to come via my income - I would have taken steroids I think. I like to tell myself I wouldn't, and for the record I have turned them down when offered but that was because the benefit wasn't guaranteed for me; had I been on the fringe of MLB, I would have absolutely done whatever it took to provide for my family. You view all these things through some moralistic lens, but things are much foggier than the clear choice you are painting this as. Keuchel was provided a tool by the team to increase his production and value; greatly improving his families livelihoods and elongating his career, and from his side of things, everyone was doing it. Veterans, rookies, and coaching staffs were pushing and promoting it. Keuchel did what was not only best for his career and his future, but also what he felt gave him an even playing field with everyone else. This isn't as simplistic as I don't cheat... these aren't decisions you've ever had to make in your life. I am not arguing that breaking the rules is OK, but I am certainly arguing that one voice speaking out against a culture of one-upsmaniship, in which everyone searches for questionable edges over their competition, was not going to change or do anything... and it doesn't make you a poor leader, it just makes you another player in the long line of players who did what they thought they had to do to maintain this life and to maintain this dream.

  23. Then they go to Hinch and say "This needs to stop, there's a line and we don't want to cross it." Instead, they looked the other way. And in that, we learn their character.

  24. Fiers spoke up because it was the right thing to do, and I truly believe he saw young guys get destroyed and had watched the Darvish situation unfold and he had enough; sure, them rocking him probably gave him a little boost, but I trust and believe Fiers when he said the reason why he did what he did. Saying he was butthurt is the PR spin the Astros placed on this; similarly to Luhnow trying to blame low level employees. There really is a disconnect and separation between pitchers and position players in baseball. They are operated as two separate units, and anything from workouts/weights to drills are typically done as a unit and not as a full team. A pitcher really wouldn't have much power in this situation; however difficult that is to believe or understand. Also, what would Keuchel or Fiers be capable of doing? Hinch already is claiming he didn't like it (he's full of shit), and if he couldn't stop it despite not liking it as manager, what the fuck is Dallas Keuchel going to do? If you go public as a member of the team mid-season, you get blackballed from the league possibly.

  25. My first inning of my first spring training was pitched by one Dylan Covey. Thanks dude I'll always have that moment in my fandom. It was a beautiful early March day at Camelback...and I believe he got absolutely shelled and was pulled after about an inning.

  26. I'll never forget spending $80 on a ticket last season to see Covey have an infinite era before being taken out.

  29. Nova was a good soldier. He was a guy alot of the young Sox pitchers complimented as a good mentor. If I'm not mistaken wasn't he the guy (or one of the guys) who had all the starters go to the bullpen to watch a teammate who was about to start the game throw? I wish him the best.

  31. Ozzie Guillen may have turned Garland's career around. I remember Garland the top prospect struggling mightily his first few years with the Sox, and at the first sign of danger he was always looking to the bullpen to see pitchers warming and shortly after was always removed from the game. I remember Garland telling a story about Ozzie where he loaded the bases in a 1 run game in the 5th inning (I believe) and nobody out. Garland looked to the bullpen to see no one warming and Ozzie took a walk to the mound and asked him what he was looking at... told him, it's his fucking problem and it's his to get out of. Walked off the mound, and Garland gave up 2 of the runs and the lead, but started the 6th inning as well. I believe the White Sox lost the game, but Garland stopped looking to the bullpen whenever he got in a jam. That kind of confidence Guillen showed his starters ended up paying off 1 year later in 2005 when Garland and the rest of the staff took huge leaps forward. It's one of the most underrated aspects of Guillen's coaching that I think was overlooked. Joe Maddon could have taken this out of Guillen's playbook with how he managed Hendricks.

  35. I haven't pulled up my 17-page opus, but here's one that came back to me for Haikus. Great Ozzie man say Pitching and defense the way To World Series play! This was written early in the season, mind you. I wrote at least a dozen more. They were super fun to write. Another tidbit about 2005. Wire to wire. In first place from the first game to the last.

  40. The Clevenger story sucks, mostly for the two kids involved, but there is always two sides to every story. And if you check out his ex-partner’s Twitter, she comes across as a total nut-bag.

  44. Why would anyone want that cloud/distraction over this franchise just when they look like they're going to start blossoming? Managers arent going to win you ballgames. They may lose you some, and perhaps Renteria qualifies as that, but doesnt mean we need to replace him with a cheat.

  46. I believe that AJ Hinch is a better manager than Ricky Renteria. I do not believe that managers are that valuable and being the team that hired back in AJ Hinch would make me mad. I would be against doing this, but not to the point that I would stop cheering for the team or anything.
