The Sox don't have a Moncada type and Montgomery might be too far away for the Nats to consider him a Top Ten Prospect but realistically that's where Montgomery is headed but he has to continue doing the things he's doing now for another season for him to reach the top 10. Colas isn't ranked in the Top 100 . He might get there at the end of the year if he continues to crush at AA. He had some good exposure getting to the Futures game and the players in that game are just the types the Nats want ,AA and AAA type high ranking players. Colas is older than Soto but a better athlete, better fielder easily, LH like Soto . He might have to crack the Top 50 prospects list but that isn't going to happen before the Nats trade him unless it doesn't happen by the deadline. Considering it's Cola's 1st year, he's adjusted well and hopefully he climbs through the system faster now. He's now at a level where he's age appropriate so raking at Birmingham would mean Colas might also be a fast riser and crack the Top 100 whenever they do them again in the winter. But as an older player in his 1st year , he just hasn't been around long enough and hadn't been seen throughout an American HS and College career to get highly ranked .He may already be a Top 50 guy by some scouts estimations but it won't show in rankings. The cost controlled salary Sale had means a lot more to potential suitors than Soto's whatever he gets in arbitration numbers means to his suitors . He has less years remaining than Sale did. But he is an everyday player whose hitting is so good it makes up for his fielding. He may never get to 7 fWAR again but for the next 2.5 he should be around 15 fWAR if he stays healthy which is always a concern . Sox got 1 great hitting and speed prospect and 1 very good pitching prospect a guy with a 50/50 chance of having a MLB career and a throw in pitcher who had 93 innings , nothing above A ball and nothing outstanding in his over all numbers but had a live arm. Trading Vaughn as the centerpiece of Soto allows the rest of the roster to fall into much better place, assuming that Abreu is going no where (probably safe assumption). I love AV. But that is a move I'd make.

I am incredibly pro going after Soto but I just don't see the point if you trade vaughn. Absolutely try to parlay Eloy into parts for Soto, but Vaughn? The point of going all in for soto is not to tread water.

This. Most of this board has lost all ability to look at Grandal objectively. I bet he comes back and looks much closer to late season 21 Grandal than early season 22 Grandal.

If Eloy is ready to go, and Vaughn and Robert are back, and you still have Pollock, the OF is full again. Once you get Grandal back, you get another LH power bat for the middle of the order. Abreu and Vaughn are your top 2 first basemen, with Grandal potentially getting time there. The same thing would happen at DH for whichever guy wasn't playing in the field. I would rather have another catcher than Sheets right now.

I really love what the Sox have done in the first ten rounds. Shultz -- Was in contention to be a top-15 pick before mono Pallette -- Was in contention to be a top-10 pick, some thought maybe even a shot at 1-1, before TJ Cannon -- Was in contention to be a first round pick before mono Sprinkle -- Was in contention to be a first round pick and the top SS taken before some swing changes messed up his offense There is an alternate reality where all four of these guys were off the board before the Sox even picked at 26. As an Alabama alum I might have preferred Prielipp over Shultz, but he fell pretty far so I wonder if there are concerns about his medicals. Either way, hard to complain about the upside in this draft.

I think if Vaughn had an extra year of control, him being the centerpiece for Soto would be much more appealing to the Nat’s. Instead we wasted a year of control to have him play in like three games over the first two weeks of last season.

Sheets has to go. He had that little streak after he was sent down but it didn't take long for pitchers to remember where all the holes are in his swing. The last week he hit .077/.143/.077. They absolutely can not continue to run this f'n guy out there.

Starting next year, I would bet that if you look and compare stats over the next ten years (again starting with the 2023 season on thru 2032) I would bet big bucks that Vaughn has a higher OPS, more RBIs, and a clearly better BA. I am confident that Vaughn is going to be that good.

Loidel has been making a mockery of DSL. Below are his stats, along with Luis Robert's DSL stats. Robert (19 years old): 28 games,3 HR, 22 BB, 23 SO, .310, .491, .536 (1.027 OPS) Chapelli (20 years old): 27 games, 8 HR, 19 BB, 15 SO, .375, .483, .729 (1.212 OPS) What can we get from these stats exactly? Obvious, he is too old and way too talented to be in the DSL right now. He's putting up even better stats than Robert was. I saw the updated Baseball America top 30 prospects list had him ranked 28 in the system (what a joke). Is this guy being slept on? Those are big time numbers. Maybe we struck gold and found a stud?

I just put Cease 2nd since he's been ridden pretty hard and could use an extra day of rest.
