Let's hope Ozzie isn't coming back. Yes, it is really time to move on.

It will never happen!

To be brought back you have to be one of Jerry's buddies and on his good side.

This is the quote published 5 years ago from Jerry:

"I feel very badly for him,'' Reinsdorf said in the interview. "Ozzie is a good manager. I've recommended Ozzie for several managerial positions that opened up, but his experience in Miami was costly.

"I hope he ends up somewhere. He can help somebody. He just can't come back here. He burned some bridges when he left here.''

After the last hiring NOTHING would surprise me with this hire.  Nobody is off the table.

Ventura was a terrible move and at the time Guillen was a head scratcher.

History is not kind to Jerry Reinsdorf hirings especially in the last 15 years.  I include the Bulls.

This is what I’m afraid of.  Who know who JR foists upon us this time.

Hiring Ozzie is like getting back with an ex after a disastrous second run with a different ex.

An ex that dumped you for someone else, immediately got dumped, then came crawling back begging for a 2nd chance.  And you’re just damaged and dysfunctional to consider it.

Ozzie seems to have matured a bit, but he walked out with a year on his contract, and then was so bad Loria paid him 3 years not to manage. He's great on the the pre and post. Let him stay there, because who knows what all that attention would do to him. Plus  the baggage of Oney. No need for him to return.

Anyone who is on camera under the same employer trying to take a job from someone else in the organization hasn't matured at all.  He is not at all trustworthy as an employee.  He is just as likely to burn the Sox to the ground as he is to have any kind of success with them.  Why?  We have already seen him do both to the Sox.

I'm half expecting  Hahn to be about ready to announce Espada as manager and then out of the blue we hear someone like Thome is the next manager.  That would be the White Sox way.

It still cannot possibly be worse than last time. A terrible hire is still a massive upgrade.

Didn't half the drama start because the Sox didn't draft Ozney in the higher rounds of the 2010 draft (he went in the 22nd round).

He never even made it to MiLB. Only flamed out in Indy ball.

Plus they had to hold their noses and look the other way when thinking about the stink Ozzie left when his time was up as a White Sox player. To think this time would be different is a reach. I wouldn't mind someone giving him a shot, just not the White Sox.

That's the other half.

Ozzie demanding a contract extension and feeling like he was treated differently from other coaches in the organization played a role as well. (He did not deserve a contract extension, that 2011 team collapsed under him after being totally unprepared for the season).

Where was Espada in 2017? Article I saw said he became bench coach in 2018.

Quote

After retiring, Espada became a coach in the Marlins' organization. He served as the hitting coach of the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the Class A South Atlantic League in 2006 and for the Jupiter Hammerheads of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League in 2007. Espada spent the next two seasons as the Marlins' minor league infield coordinator.[3]

The Marlins named Espada as their third base coach prior to the 2010 season. He also coached for the Puerto Rican national baseball team during the 2013 World Baseball Classic. Espada served as the Marlins' third base coach through the 2013 season. After the season, he was reassigned to manage Jupiter, as the Marlins wanted Espada to gain managerial experience.[3] Instead, Espada took a job with the New York Yankees as a special assistant to General Manager Brian Cashman.[1]

On January 11, 2015, the Yankees hired Espada to be the team's new infield coach and third base coach.[7] He manages the Gigantes de Carolina of the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente in winter baseball.[8] Espada again coached the Puerto Rican team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic.[9]

The Houston Astros hired Espada after the 2017 season to become their bench coach.[10] He interviewed for the Texas Rangers' managerial position after the 2018 season[11] and for the Chicago Cubs' managerial position after the 2019 season.[12]
