Quero Being Shopped

The Sox refusal to move their catchers around to different positions with literally no one worth blocking on the roster is just bizarre.  I get the Sox have some catching depth, but does the return justify the means?  We have to get another starting position player back who has AT LEAST 5 years of control to justify any deal here, unless a prospect deal of similar value can be put together.  This can't be another failed former top 100 prospect.

Definitely not a Top 50 prospect...

That said, there's no pressure for Getz just to trade him just for the sake of appearing to be doing something creative.

When Teel was added, their depth at catcher was being sold as one of the team's greatest advantages over other organizations.

Must purge everyone connected to Hahn.

Joking.

Just appears to be another attempt at roster churning like an actively trading mutual fund manager at the end of a very mixed quarter.  Have to be appearing to do at least SOMETHING if you're not going to sign anyone of significance.

What would Branch Rickey do???

How is this roster churning?  They have two catchers that should be starting 120+ games behind the plate and a third who appears to be a very capable backup who can slot in against LHP.  To me, this is 100% the right move if you can return a similarly valued young player at a different position.

As long as Getz doesn't just make a trade mostly for the sake of doing something.

Has to get back a starting pitcher, elite young pen arm/s or preferably an outfielder.  1B/DH as well.

As long as the return actually improves the future prospects of "the next White Sox playoff team."

Still not convinced about Lee.

I’ve been saying all along I wouldn’t be shocked. Can only play one. Commit to one and use the other one to fill another area of need.

Well sort of.  On this roster, there is no good reason why one of them couldn't be picking up a 1B glove to maximize their values both as a trade piece, and to the team.

How so? If you can get a promising OF in return then it's trading from a strength to improve a glaring weakness.

Or teal gets hurt or regresses and you're once again down to Lee at C. It doesn't make much sense to me to trade any good young player right now. It's not like anybody is being blocked.
